Accommodation was amazing and the best breakfast in Thailand !

The tree cover, cottage, and breakfast
Fairly self-contained, which is good or bad depending on your perspective.

Stunning views and beautiful "jungle-meets-sea" aesthetic.
Clean and charming rooms.
Immense potential for the location.
Massive discrepancy between luxury pricing (€1,000 per night) and guest experience.
Unprofessional dining service with hygiene concerns (waitress in dirty clothing, visible runny nose).
Poor food quality; Pad Thai had an off-putting smell and cold, overcooked squid in main most expensive dish.
Food arrived cold.
Bicycles rented for island tour were in poor condition, with both tires going flat.
Lack of timely assistance from hotel staff regarding bicycle issues.
Dismissive staff attitude upon returning the bike.
Significant noise from a nearby mosque disrupting the advertised "peaceful" atmosphere.
Overall poor management leading to unhappy staff and inadequate service.

Beyond expectations and very well maintained. The staff was lovely and cared for us well. They have golf carts to take you around leaving you to do very little walking so great for those with mobility issues too. Many families with kids were there, very safe and friendly.
Breakfast is exceptional and the spa is amazing too!
There may be stingrays at the beach and unfortunately I got stung by one. They should put signs up warning swimmers and children playing or canoeing in the water.

Very nice location, feels like you’re literally inside the jungle. Very comfy bed, very nice staff.
The rooms were pretty clean, but not the cleanest I’ve ever been to.

We had an amazing time at the Koh Yao Yay village. It was the first part of our trip and because of that we were tired and jet lagged but it was the perfect place to start. It is a small village in true sense and it has everything to offer. The villa is an absolute dream and very quiet. The breakfast was abundant, the restaurant ist very good. It is a bit pricey but a good value for the money. The only drawback would maybe be the location as it is around 30 minutes with the scooter from the main area but if you want a quiet stay than this is the place for you

The whole environment, the location the views, the staff and the accommodation. What a beautiful place.
A minor problem with a blocked toilet, and hot water which needed fixing. The staff sorted both issues very quickly, so it did not spoil our enjoyment.

Amazing staff, amazing place in the middle of the forest, amazing rooms, amazing food and facilities
Hot water wasn’t hot enough and there is some construction going on. It didn’t ruin our experience though thanks to all of the good things in this place!

This place was amazing, it was a special treat for our family. The staff were super accommodating with a request for an extra bed. The room was different to the pictures, an upgrade for us. More internal space, which was super handy with the kids. The pool is amazing. The breakfast buffet was also amazing and a highlight each day.
They have a bit of construction going on with low season, but they are trying to keep it quiet not to bother guests. It didn’t bother us.

Huge territory for walking. Super nice breakfast, manager Yam is very friendly and helpful, thanks to him to find out the “club cars”.
The room itself is pretty old. It is clean, but still. Also at reception they don’t provide full information upon check in. Many mosquitos are in the room.

This is the best resort on the island. The staff makes sure you feel comfortable and can enjoy every second. An outdoor shower is outstanding. We hope to come back one day.

The resort facilities were very good, well kept and perfect for a relaxing vibe. The breakfast buffet had great variety and quality, and the dinner menu was varied, delicious, and beautifully presented. Time by the pool was a delight, and the activities on offer were both interesting and well organised. Overall, it was very good value for the price. The island itself felt authentic and non-touristy, which we really enjoyed.
Staff were helpful in organising transport, but we ended up paying more than the price advertised at reception (1,500 THB vs 1,350 THB per person per transfer). With the extra buffer time they built in for traffic, we also had to wait 45 minutes between car and speedboat. Renovations were ongoing throughout our stay, and while staff provided a lunch voucher as compensation, we later found out other guests had been offered multiple vouchers valid for either lunch or dinner. After raising this, we were able to use ours for dinner. Service at dinner was mixed – some staff were a bit short, while others were lovely.

The setting and nature of the resort was very nice. Lots of trees, plants, …
Distance between rooms/restaurants/reception/beach. You can call a buggy ….
Quality of the food is mediocre. If you can eat for half the price in a decent restaurant just outside the resort then i would hire some of the local cooks as they prepare lovely food.

Perfect resort with amazing pools and private beach. The restaurants are great and the pool bars are even better. Rooms are open, nice and comfortable. Lots to do and see at the resort and island.
There was construction but they gave us a lunch voucher as compensation. Rooms are very open, can see in. The island is quiet but the resort can be busy.

Lunch one day at the resort. It was not freshly made and we believe we got stomach problems afterwards because of that

This was our second stay here and we loved it! It’s like paradise and the staff are lovely. So helpful.
On arrival you get a welcome drink, Thai snack and a cold towel which is perfect. Also they set up a cute decoration on our bed for our honeymoon.
As we stayed in low season, there was renovations, but each day they gave us a free gift. We got dinner and a picnic on the beach!
Nothing.

This was our second time staying at Koh Yao Yai Villages, first time was high season and very busy, this time in May was better, lots of spots at the pool, no queue at the pool bar! It was so tranquil and quiet. The bed was very comfy and the room clean. We had one rainy day but spent it on our daybed listening to the rain and cicadas. The buffet breakfast was also very good.

It was perfect. Transportation from the port to the hotel would have been great.

The remoteness of the resort, surrounded by rainforests, was outstanding. The deluxe villa was exceptional, the scent in the room upon arrival was beautiful. The breakfast was top class, plenty of choice. The massage beside the pool was the best I'd had on my trip. The view from he pool was 180°, superb A++

We stayed here for our anniversary and it was amazing! The suite was very clean & comfortable and the staff were brilliant, even putting a lovely 'Happy Anniversary' message on our bed for us! The food was great and the pool & views were stunning! You could rent a scooter from the hotel too which was very handy for exploring the gorgeous little island
There was only one thing we weren't keen on and that was that at breakfast some of the food (mainly meats) weren't covered so there were flies getting on to it.

3 core benefits: Friendly Staff, amazing breakfast, peaceful apartness. The rooms were nice and clean with open shower (if you like it). The bungalows are seperated and surrounded by plants and forest in order to avoid curious glances from the neighbors. Only birds, cicadas and lizzards keep watching you. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING compared to everything we´ve seen in Thailand so far in this price category. The long infinity pool is really cool and invites for a long swim. Pool lounges are comfty and towels are provided. The restaurant staff, reception, beachbar (bar 2), housekeeping and maintenance was very friendly and endeavored. They solved a technical room problem with a fair room change.
Staff at poolbar (bar 1) was not attentive, ignored us during happy hour and then came 1min after the happy our to tell us: "Happy hour is over now". Thanks for nothing, please look for another hotel, you don´t fit into the team.
Toilets are typical for all muslimic areas i´ve been to. They usually clog up quickly, so watch out.
The gym needs some attention as well but still it was usable.
The beach affected by low tide almost continuously, but this does not fall into my hotel rating. Luckily it was the cleanest beach i´ve seen over there so far. Thats a big plus.

The room is so comfortable and spacious, we really loved it! The setting is stunning and the pool is amazing. The spa is really nice too – on the expensive side for Thailand, but really good massages. There was a mixup with our booking and they booked us for the wrong service but it was still very nice.
The food is good (not great, but not bad), and the drinks were just okay (very weak). Most of the staff were friendly except a bartender who was very rude multiple times and made us feel uncomfortable. Another thing to note is that when the tide goes out, the beach isn't really one you will want to sit at or swim in.
Walking to and from the restaurant to the bungalow we were in at the back of the property was a long one (and uphill!). Doing that multiple times a day with a toddler got a little old, but it wasn't too big of a deal. I wish they had more staff offering rides in the golf carts!
One last thing to know is this resort is extremely isolated. There is one local restaurant within walking distance, but to get to areas with more going on you have to drive 20-30 minutes in one direction on a motorbike. That means you're kind of stuck at the resort unless you do a tour or rent a motorbike.

Nice environment, we felt very relaxed as soon as we arrived! Paddle boards and canoes available for use, great for our teenage kids. Friendly staff. We booked excursions via the hotel, stress free. I accidentally stepped onto sea urchin and driver took me to doctor and back with no fuss
The commute to get to the hotel.

The sea bass served in both restaurants was exquisite
Beach swimming not really possible
