We stayed in a beautiful gîte in the hotel grounds, amazing food, very helpful staff. Pretty woodland walks from the hotel.

A calm and enjoyable break

Fabulous breakfast with lots of choice, and charming staff. The location was lovely, calm and beautifully kept grounds. The indoor pool was much appreciated.

We would have liked a means of drying our towels. It was a wet week and the atmosphere was damp. We approved of the towels not being changed daily, but would have liked to have been able to dry them between showers. It would have been good to have had a lounge of some sort to sit in and read during the day. Admittedly, if the weather had ben fine we could have sat outside. Only one armchair in the room.

Very pleasant stay in an old fashioned hotel with a superb restaurant

Lovely hotel, very friendly helpful staff, couldn’t have been better The waiting staff in the restaurant were exceptionally professional. The whole dining experience was delightful, food was exceptional We travelled with our two dogs, and requested a room with access to the outside, we were given a room with a private garden! Brilliant! Overall a fabulous short stay.

Only a couple of niggles, (and really not an issue) The internet was very poor, especially in our room. I would have appreciated some way of getting music in the room, maybe tune the telly to a couple of music channels, or have a media player in the room.

The Manoir was full of character and well presented. The room contained everything I could wish for apart from an iron but I’m guessing that could be obtained from reception. Even had a nice coffee machine.

A real gem in a beautiful location

Wonderful location and surrounded by forestry. A short drive into town with a good variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was some of the best we've had in France. The restaurant isn't open on Mondays so we ate in town on our second night. Lovely swimming pool although a bit too warm for such hot weather. The only improvement would be to have air conditioning which we thought it had but it's not in all room types.

The location was excellent, not far from Bagnoles. The room was lovely and large with a good-sized balcony and views across the countryside. The bathroom was very well-appointed. The breakfast was very good with plenty of the items prepared in house. We enjoyed eating in the restaurant.

We were surprised that the bar was not open when we arrived at about 1.45pm. It would have been nice to be able to have a glass of wine while we were waiting to be able to access our room (we were early and were able to access it before the check-in time which was good). We did have tea though.

Lovely staff, but not quite the old hunting lodge atmosphere we were looking for.

Lovely staff. Nice location for access to town, although we would have preferred to be a little more remote. Great evening meal.

Dated decor, more like a conference hotel than a hunting lodge, rather pricey. Only a lift (which didn't always arrive) to the first floor, except for 'back stairs' disturbing diners. We could get no internet while we were there, but that might have been our server. Surprised to find piped music at a Relais de Silence.

Comfortable and quiet

Hotel comfortable and very quiet, located in lovely grounds outside Bagnoles. We chose the hotel for the restaurant which was good and we didn't use the pool which is obviously a good reason for the price. Plenty of parking. WiFi good but does not stay connected, you have to keep reconnecting.

No air conditioning. No tea and coffee maker in the room.

Disappointing stay at such a great place.

We had visited several times in the past and love the location. The gardens are well laid out and quite pretty. Breakfasts were well presented by a friendly courteous team. The bar area is attractive, but it does not compensate for off-hand service.

The room was oppressive with low sloping ceilings both in the sleeping area and hopelessly low in the bath/shower. It was a a long way from reception and was worryingly badly signed for the fire-escape. The restaurant was especially poor with limited choices at dinner and the self-satisfied staff were not helpful.

Beautiful property, delicious food spoilt by the arrogance met on arrival.

The property and room were very good. The food was excellent mind you mushrooms played a big part on the menu. The whole evening experience was a delight from start to finish one of the main reasons we booked we could not fault this and the older family were charming.

The welcome to the property was very very poor if we had not travelled all day we would have turned around and stayed somewhere else. The reception on arrival was very unwelcoming, manners cost nothing, arrogance is appalling presumably the two on the desk were family. The staff situation was saved by the delightful girl on the reservation desk the following day and the breakfast staff. We will not return but it was made obvious at the start it didn’t matter anyway!
