Small room but had everything I needed and was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Great off-street parking facility. Helpful host.

Ok in a pinch

was able to book last-minute on a busy weekebd

located on a main road. One or two of the double-glazed window panes have failed and the road noise was louder than expected. One very drunk guest in the adjacent room gave the impression there is no acoustic insulation between the rooms. Given the lack of protection from noise I thought the room was pricey.

It suited my purpose and the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable.

There was no breakfast, but the whole place was very clean, and the room had everything you'd expect from a small hotel. The owner was great and very knowledgeable about the area, and recommended a nice breakfast place "The Missing Bean," and recommended a great local pub "The Magdalen Arms."

It was a little bit pricey for what you got, IMO. Oxford is expensive generally, but this hotel was 20% higher than it should have been.

The small single room was well designed and comfortable. The shower was small and narrow but fine for me.

Unfortunately the front room overlooks the busy Iffley street so there is traffic noise. I slept comfortably but did close the window.

A great budget stay if visiting South Oxford for work or play.

The Balkan Lodge was basic, but good value. It was perfect for us as we were attending a party about 20mins walk away on the river. It may be a little far out of town if you're wanting to be in Oxford centre, but otherwise a good budget hotel.

We like walking so it was fine, but if you struggle to do 15,000 steps a day, you'll need to take a taxi to town for a visit. Guy on the desk was very friendly and the accommodation basic, but great. Being on a main road, I was concerned it would be noisy, but it wan't bad at all.

room was clean and airy. tea kettle came in quite handy. liked the small feel of the lodge. very comfortable.

wish breakfast was back as an option. had to go out to eat. my room was near the street and with the windows open the noise was more than i expected. overall a good stay, though, and i would stay again.

Room was basic but looked like it had been recently refurbished and had all mod cons and enough hanging space.

There was no breakfast despite the description at booking.com I didn't mind going without it but I didn't like being misled by the description. When I pointed it out to the receptionist, I got the following responses: "What's booking.com?" "We haven't done breakfast for two years." "If you checked your confirmation e-mail you would have known."

Parking. On main bus route into town centre. Convenient for ring road.

Very basic for the cost. Staff pleasant but mostly not around. Walls thin so noise from fellow guests. Bed small. No breakfast. Downstairs sitting room but no facilities eg coffee machine. Run down area of Oxford.

Overnight stay for a gig

Location was main reason we chose Balkan Lodge as it’s within easy walking distance from City centre with places to eat nearby. Nearer or central accommodation was more expensive. Nice to have parking and location was quiet (our room was not overlooking the main road).

Because the bed was on wheels it moved every time you got in it or sat up. Shower was a bit weak. But these were minor points as it was only for one night.
