Ryokan KANADE

Comfortable ryokan with spacious rooms. Quiet location. Close to Philosopher's path.

Impeccably clean and all materials were in a pristine state. Rooms were large with excellent views and amenities. Coming back to the ryokan at the end of a hot day felt peaceful, cozy. The staff was very courteous and offered clear explanations for our stay. Given the heat wave, the air conditioning was great!

1. The television VOD did not work. We would have liked to be able to order a movie. 2. There is only 1 small bath (outside) for the entire ryokan and you are obligated to pay for it. We would have preferred a more traditional onsen facility that is included in the price of the room.

Very friendly staff, beautiful location a bit more on the outskirts, so it was beautifully green and quiet. Big supermarket and coin laundry in close walking distance. Everything was very clean and neat, Japanese style room was really big with a beautiful and large bathroom area. Private onsen on the roof can be booked for very little money, was a lovely experience overall! Food at the ryokan is wonderful quality, prepared and served with dedication. Also lots of options for small local food spots in the area.

Literally nothing that we didn’t like about our stay!!

Room was adequate, garden was pretty. Bathroom was nice. Staff spoke great English. Nice Yukata to wear to participate in.

Food was the worst we have had in Japan. Unfortunately, highly disappointed for this half board meal plan. It seemed that much of the food was just assembled, or even dare I say premade/ packaged items arranged in some nice dishware. Our dessert for dinner was also quite strange. It was a syrup covered platter of fruit which made the fruit unappetizing to eat. It would have been much better to have this syrup on the side (one can only guess the reason for the syrup is because they know the fruit is not good to begin with). Better yet, replace fruit with a scoop of ice cream and that would have been 10 times better. After our dinner, we weren’t sure if the meal had concluded or if we were waiting for something else. Staff was nearby and standing in the dining area, but didn’t say anything, 10 minutes later, we ended up standing up and they said good night. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night, we even thought maybe the chef had quit and they had to have someone fill in, in which case we completely feel terrible that they are in this situation. The stay itself is ok, the meal plan was terrible.
