Teppanyaki House

This is a very unique property as it was a shop lot structure. The kitchen is like a Teppanyaki restaurant and the bath room is huge and pleasant! 4 of us had plenty of space. We were provided with nice coffee, tea, cooking oil and sauce, laundry detergent, record player and old records. Everything was amazing! The bus station right in front of the property where we could get bus to downtown Kyoto, super convenient! Tetsugaku no Michi is also very near the property. We just walked to visit some temples along Tetsugaku no Michi! Staff is very helpful and nice!

A taste of Japan. Great location

The stairs were quite slippery and railings sparse. Futons were thin not comfortable for an adult to sleep on.

It was located near the Philosphers Path a very good location to stay at. The kitchen was well furnished with Gas. Microwave, oven and electric kettle. The large bath tub was good for a family onsen.

There was one bed on the second floor room which had a low sloping roof and open railing . The first floor has a sleeping area with bedding on the ground. The kitchen and washroom and bath tub and toilet was on the ground floor. The single washroom and toilet on the ground floor was very inconvenient as the person on the second floor bed had to walk downstairs two floors to use the toilet at night.

The kitchen had everything we needed including a rice cooker and toaster oven. The host was so lovely and helpful. They even turned the lights and heating on for us on our arrival night so we didn’t arrive late in the evening to a cold house. So thoughtful! My kids loved the big bathroom and it was great to be able to do a load of washing too. It had everything we needed. There is a park 10 meters up the road and it’s very close to a beautiful walk to many of Kyoto’s lovely temples. Also there is a grocery store within walking distance. Plus a bus stop very close and you can get a taxi easily on Shirakawadori.

I prefer a softer bed but I’m a bit fussy. It really wasn’t that bad.
