i couldn’t be any calmer. i was horizontal - danni

open 24 hours was perfect for us! we were there for thunderdome which meant we were out super late/ early hours and being able to come and go as we chose to was great but also meant if we needed anything there was always a helpful member of staff there to assist us. having the cafe below is very useful too any time we wanted snacks or drinks they had stuff there to choose from. There was a young man working the night who was absolutely lovely to us and asked us about our plans, super friendly and helpful.

we were on the first floor of the hotel and the stairs were so steep, manageable but kind of awkward to go up and down especially with big bags. the single beds were tiny definitely smaller than a single was very scared i’d fall off the top bunk ( didn’t though ) you also couldn’t really sit up on the bottom bunk my friend had a sore neck bless.

Convenient, comfy stay

The room is spacious and the beds comfortable. Close to Utrecht Centraal train station. There is a cafe on the bottom floor so easy to get something to eat.

The stairs are very challenging to get up and down, especially with luggage.

Great location, super attentive and kind staff.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and kind. The breakfast was very good for the price. It was fairly quiet at night.

I would have preferred a room with a shower rather than the bath as it was tricky to get in and out of and quite slippy.

There's a nearby bus stop going directly to the central station. For grocery needs, there's a JUMBO a few walks away from the hotel.

Well represented and helpful

I am registered as disabled with Ziekte Parkinson's and as a result my walking and general mobility is limited. However these challenges for me represented no problem to the staff at Chao. They treated me as a normal person; every request was met with kind accommodation - even plugging my scootmobile to the mains electricity. I am grateful for the assistance and courtesy. I shall stay there again.

Utter disgrace.

Absolutely nothing

Everything, this place is definitely not a hotel, it’s a death trap with a accident waiting to happen, 2 sets of extreme extremely steep narrow stairs for access and no fire escapes in any if the floors, the access to the rooms are through the fast food cafe by a very narrow door, the breakfast in the morning was disgusting, we booked a room for 2 and ended up in a attic room with for 3 with no room to move, the bath and sink were in the room itself. Also the photos on your site of my room looked nothing like what we ended up in. We paid 178 euros for this disgusting experience and if it was not being a non refundable payment I have walked out. A refund would be much appreciated, please could you let me know the hosts response. Very very unhappy and annoyed 😠 customer.

Budget solution

Room was clean and the staff was helpful. Check-in and Check-out was effortless. Tere was warm water, fridge and tv. It was easy to walk to the center.

The hotel was a little bit sketchy, it was upstars in a coffee restaurant. The room was very small and it was crowded not only with two beds but three. The bathroom was really small, I felt quite claustrophobic. The room was quite noisy because of the noise from the street below.

Functional and simple.

The cafeteria/restaurant in the entrance is open until 23h and offer snacks 24h. All the basics were covered, towels included and gel/shampoo too.

Beds were uncomfortable, especially the pillows were very bad. During the night some noises that may have been the neighbors.

Unrefined but practical stay for a couple days on a low budget

Bright room, large bench for opening luggage. Nice corner room with many windows from which you can see a lot of green WiFi was quite fast (above 100/50Mbps DL/UL) Kind staff

Switched off mini fridge used as a bed side table. Very low bed Awkward entrance through the reception that is also a restaurant / dining room Towel was not replaced Quite exposed to noise and there were people loitering just below my (first floor) windows at night.

Disappointing

It was allowed to travel with pets. The hotel is located not far from the city center.

Too small suit. Quite a steep stairs which make traveling with small kids or big suitcase near to impossible. The entrance to the hotel is inside of a cafe so you have to move through guests with all your stuff to get there. There no hangers in the bathroom. There is a poor ventilation in the suit.

The staff were helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

The room and bathroom were very small and not big enough for 5 people. The bathroom smelt of drains and the curtains were not long enough to make the room dark enough to sleep well. I emailed before arriving to extend my stay to 2 nights but when I checked in they wanted to charge me 300 euros for one night extra! I cancelled the second night. The stairs up to the room were dangerously steep and the building smelt of fried food as it was over a cafe/ take away restaurant.

Perfect place for the price

Awesome place. Really really clean. You enter through a cafeteria where there's always someone that also can sell you some food in case you're in the need. Mattress were really comfy and nice staff.

The rooms are not the biggest, same for the bathroom, but enough. We had two rooms (5 and 4 pax) and was enough.

Excellent Price-Performance-Ratio near a beautiful City Center

We had a nice bright room and the the staff was very friendly! It was a ten minute walk to the city center. Excellent Price-Performance Ratio. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

Location was good, close to a big park and surrounded by nice lanes and canals.

the reception is functional but not great, the rooms are above the cafe, which is a bit weird but seems to work.
