Old house with a comfy vibe but additional rooms added in the attic were modern and elegant.

My two Sons and I stayed here both en route to and return from the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2026, the location for which is perfect being far enough away from the circuit to avoid being overly expensive yet close enough to be convenient. Talking of location . . . . this farmhouse in the village of Champfrémont is in an idyllic position, beautiful scenery in a simply lovely countryside situ but even with satnav you may need a couple of moments to find the right house. There is parking out front for several vehicles. Your host, Jacky, speaks good English (as well as several other languages) and is the consummate host; he runs a tight house with excellent locally sourced produce (a point mentioned avidly in other reviews) that you will come across at both breakfast and, if requested, evening meals (charged separately). We asked in advance if an evening meal was available as we had a tight programme on both days and were very pleased we did. A fixed menu is available so it is prudent to check availability and what’s available in advance; you sit down with both Jacky and any other guests so expect an old-school evening of the very best traditional French fare, culture and conversation supplemented by local cheeses and a formidable selection of wines. We had the Junior suite which is upstairs in a deceptively more modern area (deceptively as the walls are extremely thick, more of which in a minute), two bedrooms feed off the well-equipped central bathroom. Although our rooms were not air-conditioned, we found that with careful positioning of the Velux windows prior to sleep a relatively good airflow could be maintained. Sometimes you find a special place you would return to in a heartbeat not only for its convenience but maybe more so for the enjoyment and the general overall experience – this is such a location.
One bedroom (as you enter) is slightly smaller with room for one whereas the second room is more spacious with a further single and double bed. WiFi is free and available throughout however, as mentioned previously, the walls are thick and reception is better in some parts of the building than others so a little persistence may be required.
