Comfortable stay.

The property was well equipped and comfortable, with a good amount of space. It was in a great location for our visit and the owner was very friendly.

There were a few cobwebs and dust in places but overall ok. Noise from neighbours upstairs.

Beautiful stay in Netherlands

The place was wonderful my kids loved it, relaxing and quiet area. Location was perfect for going to near cities like Rotterdam. The apartment was specious and clean I found every thing I needed for cooking.

Unfortunately there was so many mosquitoes.

Nice view, quiet and great location and central to most tourist places.

Location was great. Nice field view and interact with the animals. Very quiet although it’s a (milk) farm with many cows. Some karts, trampoline and swings for kids to play around. Host still met us at 11 pm when we arrived. Overall very good!

Smell can be overpowering with the amount of cows there. But if keeping windows shut you can’t smell it at all. The apartments were a bit dated but all was working.

A well-sized apartment with beautiful views. Staying on a working farm made the stay a unique one.

Staying on a working farm. Our 5 year old loved the trampoline and seeing the animals in the field every day. Apartment was a good size. Staff were really friendly and helpful. A beautiful location.

Mattress on bunk bed could do with being replaced. The kitchen is well resourced and there is a welcome kit e.g. washing up liquid, coffee filters, etc but it would have been a lovely touch to provide fresh milk for cereals and hot drinks as it is a dairy farm. Just a suggestion.

It was excellent for our family. We were able to rent a suite with 4 rooms. The living area was spacious and each bedroom had its own bathroom attached or very nearby. It felt luxurious. We are also from a dairy farming back ground so we enjoyed that it was a working farm with more than just milk cows but sheep, goats a pony and a sweet dog who greets you every morning. We have adult children but it also provided a swing, three wheeled low bikes, and trampoline for children( if they desire more than enjoying all of the animals)

Laundry was not included, and for those not used to farm smells and sounds( which did not bother us) you may want to take that into account. For us it was perfect.

A completely peaceful, relaxing country farm stay. One hour with bus & train to Amsterdam/ Gouda

We loved the quiet surroundings of the farm, its animals, views across the fields and the canal along the side of the road. The peace after Amsterdam was so refreshing. We had a car but took the bus and train into Amsterdam and other places. (Took about an hour) with easy connections, with a 20 min slow walk along the canal to bus stop, or drive to the bus stop and park free nearby. The air conditioner was really helpful as we struck a very hot spell. The host and family were very helpful and kind. Thanks !!!

Loved our stay! Plenty of space, beautiful scenery and even activities for kids to do.

The apartment had plenty of space for our family of eight. We needed a baby bed and it was already set up and ready for us when we arrived. The view outside the window was beautiful and there was ample outdoor seating. The kitchen was adequately stocked for dishes (and clearly labeled) giving us options for cooking when we wanted. Our kids loved the outside activities (pedal carts, swings and trampoline) and watching the animals. Loved our stay here - it is a fun, unique place to stay in the Netherlands. People looking to book should be aware that this property is outside of a main city connection (it is a dairy farm, after all). We didn’t mind that at all though. We had a car rental and it was nice to know we had a place to park and the beautiful Dutch country side to look forward to. Travel times to places are very reasonable (such as 30 minutes to keukenhof).

Great option

Superb location overlooking River Rijn! Beautiful apartment with spacious room, private entrance and lots of bathrooms.

We had first floor accommodation. We had kids with us and we were asked by other residents to keep them all quiet by 9.30pm as others are trying to sleep. I guess the insulation of the building is not great. If you have a family of excited kids with jetlag, ask for a ground floor apartment.

It was a pleasant stay, I would pick it again.

Off the main noisy roads and quiet, yet major cities/sites of interest are within 50 minute drive. Plenty of parking space. Two-bedroom apartment has plenty space, has a kitchenette, tv, couch, large table, all the necessary stuff. Gas/grocery store in some town to the east, 5 min drive. Restaurants/cafes in Leiden 10-ish minute drive.

Not a minus point, but worth a mention: occasional smell from the farm, but that's obviously expected. Absolutely no smell indoors though, if you keep the windows closed.

Modern Apartment on a farm

Super friendly house master guided us to the apartment, water front with farm animals on the grass. This is a working farm, so the animal smell is not a surprise. But apartment was clean and very well kept. Heating worked well and the amount of natural light was excellent.

Could not have been more perfect.

We really loved it here. It was perfect. The accommodation is fantastic, pet friendly and with free parking. It is spacious and has great facilities itself. There are shops a short drive away so we could get food supplies and pubs and restaurants if we didn’t want to self cater. Great views of the countryside and the dike. Lovely for walking the dog morning and night. Lots to see and do, a great base for exploring the area. Will definitely use again.

Farmhouse setting in a working dairy farm. Owner/manager was the nicest guy. Well thought out experience with everything you need for the most pleasant stay. Facilities/bed were top notch.

Rooms were a little warm when we arrived but easily fixed with turning on air conditioning and opening the cool roof windows.

Excellent welcome by owners of this newly renovated and well equipped apartment on the site of their family run working dairy farm. We were encouraged to explore the site/animals which made the stay all the more interesting.

Exceptional

All what you need is in the apartment - up to smallest kitchen detail. Coffee packets, tea, stroopwafels... - you immediately get the feeling that here the owner takes care about guests. And he truly does! Since the apartments are located next to the farm, we asked if we could probably buy some milk from it. Mr. Horts have brought it to us for free! Such personal attitude is worthy. Absolutely recommend the place.

Beautiful location in the middle of the countryside

Beautiful location in the middle of the country side, the 2-bedroom apartment we stayed at had a terrace overlooking a small pond, meadows, with ducks, sheep and cattle. The apartments is confortable, simply decorated (some furniture could be renewed) and overall well equipped (kettle, microwave, dish-washer, washing machine). The owner Jan is very nice, welcoming and responsive. Overall a perfect, centrally located place for a relaxing time after city visits. Leiden, The Hague, Amsterdam and the coast are all within 30-min driving distance. It is to be noted though that the location requires a car to explore the neighboring cities since we did not find any convenient public transport. Overall a very enjoyable stay and excellent value for money!

We liked everything, but travellers should maybe be informed that the apartments are located at a dairy far, so the smell can be fairly intense, if one is sensitive to that.

great place, but had to cut our stay short due to bed bugs, which the owner said he will take care of when we brought it

Great location. it was very family friendly and the kids loved the trampoline, pedal carts, swings, and all the animals. we loved seeing the little lambs out playing. we wish we could have actually stayed here for our trip duration. Host was understanding and accommodating.

we didn’t like that we had to cut our stay here short because we found bed bugs. we were in a 3 bedroom apartment upstairs. the room that had our baby in a travel crib and our daughter had bed bugs. there was one sitting on the bed when our daughter went to go to sleep. we then stripped the 2 beds in that room and found more bed bugs on walls and the floor. even found one on the wall in the hallway. our other kids were already fast asleep in another room. we spent the next hour searching everywhere in the apartment to see where the bugs were. we deemed the one bedroom safe and put all 4 of our kids in that one bedroom and searched for hotels to move to. we couldn’t find anything and it was middle of the night so we were stuck for the night. we told the host in the morning and he understood we couldn’t stay and was also upset by the bed bugs. we know he will try to treat the problem, just hopefully realizes it’s a much bigger problem then just spraying some bug spray in there. I debated on whether to share our experience, as we loved this place and wanted to stay, but the inconvenience that was placed on us for that night and then the next several nights of us struggling to find a different place to stay during peak tulip season was stressful and we don’t want another family to have to go through what we did. we spent a lot more money trying to cover the last minute hotels and had to change a lot of our plans and it honestly ruined about half of our trip we had planned in the Netherlands. I truly wish we could stay here again, but I would be worried about the possibility of bed bugs the whole time. if you are thinking about staying here, just be sure to ask the owner about what he has done to remedy the bed bug issue. if he has done some serious treatments, then go and stay there because I’m sure you will love it there. so peaceful and quiet and such a great place for families.
