Wonderful hotel except the buffet

We were lucky to be in one of the recently renovated rooms. It was quite small, but fully equipped, including a kettle with tea and coffee. We didn't find the lift from the village on arrival, took the long way round up the hill, but once we'd found it, access to the village was very quick and convenient. The view from the hotel is magnificent.

The price of the dinner buffet left a sour taste. Neither my 14 year old daughter nor I drank the wine, but we were still charged full price, 49 CHF each, for a not very impressive buffet. It felt like a rip-off that we were subsidising other guests' wine consumption. Ate there once and not again.

Art-deco hotel with a view

The are two types of rooms. The first one is in the “old” building with small balcony and valley view. The view is great but the furnishings and moquette is a bit old-style. The second type of room is fully modern and clean looking in the new part of the hotel. Both were clean and silent. There is a hidden system of caves and lifts to bring you from the town level to the hotel up there. Luggage room with combination is also very nice. The staff is very friendly, including the waiters and the “maitre “ Claudiu, who took care of us while my gf had a ski accident. The evening restaurant is “buffet” style and has a fixed price, some meals were very good

There is a sauna coming with a fee for each guest.

A decent place in Engelberg

The location is great with an excellent view of the valley. The room was clean and very spacious.

There is no in-house restaurant. There is a buffet dinner on offer which is of mediocre quality at best and not worth the price. Breakfast too is just fine. There was no kettle in the room and no tea bags or coffee sachets, which I would expect a hotel of this type would provide.

Location was good. View from room was pretty. Comfy inside for the event I was attending.

Food (dinner) is not worth it. 50 CHF for essentially boiled chicken thigh. Restaurants nearby are much tastier.

Really nice area, beautiful views.

Breakfast was great, has a variety of options fresh food, hot food, coffee, juices. I liked crossaints. Excellent location near train station and bus stop.

Slow WiFi signal in the hotel room. Receptionist didn’t allow to eat in the waiting room but it was coffee available.

It could be better. If your main plan to visit mount of titils it worth they stay, but other than that, better to find a

Location, terrace view, free parking and breakfast, they gave us a free room upgrade.

No ironing or kettle services( you have to give a deposit of 20 franc each then it will be returned once your finished), no fridge, no water bottles, the breakfast is included but it was literally same every day during all our stays. The pillows were very small, no soundproof we hear our next room guest. The next room we asked for the usual room service, when we came back we found that they did not do anything, they just put the blanket on the bed just above our clothes without removing them. And they did not change the towel which was totally different than the service we got the day before.

I booked hotel as it had a restaurant, and you said it was open during my stay , in fact that’s a lie as it only open in summer and closed from sept . Booking .com need to makes sure the info on the site is correct as I check and it say open .

Relaxed, warm and friendly stay!

We stayed for two nights and had a great time. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The ladies at reception were helpful when we checked in and gave great recommendations for dining in the town. The gentleman who worked in the Gin bar was very knowledgeable and attentive. The servers at the breakfast buffet were lovely too! The hotel was very clean and access to the main town was very convenient.

The lighting in the bedroom was quite poor. There was no main light, just lamps above the beds. There were minimal plug outlets in the room.

Very enjoyable

Our stay at the Hotel Terrace in Engelberg was enjoyable, the staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast with both hot and cold buffet catered for all comers, my wife was provided with an amazing basket of allergy free products well beyond expectations. The rooms were a little small but adequate had a beautiful view over to Titlis and the cleaning service was excellent. The only disappointment was no restaurant on site, this was not mentioned on the Booking.com website and was most inconvenient especially when it was raining. The hotel explained that in summer they do not have a restaurant service due to lack of demand. The hotel website does give restaurant opening times for winter but does not say that there is no restaurant service in summer. This is something that should be corrected as visitors with young children or ones with a handicap may find visiting restaurants in town difficult.

Good Hotel with excellent view - could be better with rooms

Hotel is very good and breakfast is excellent. Only thing that room was of very old type of rooms. we would have loved the modern rooms which they have also. So when you book the rooms, ask them to book modern rooms not the very old room.

The best part was the view from room balcony. It was amazing, the best view of Engelberg can be experienced in this hotel only. Location of the hotel is great, 5-7 min walk from Engelberg train station. Staff was great, Ms Mukta Aktar gave us early check in , she is very kind & sweet.

Wifi didn’t work in the room otherwise everything was perfect. Even when we called at reception for wifi, they said it doesn’t well in the rooms.

Really nice hotel that feel like an old 5* which was downgraded to a 3*... not sure about the reason. That being said, it is of great value for the price given that parking and breakfast are included! The room was particularly clean! The breakfast was more than decent. You have a tunnel that links you to the town centre which is very useful

Only issue is that the floor creaks.

Beautiful location with a great Swiss welcome.

Beautiful large room with a balcony looking out at panorama of the mountains in Engelberg. Location was easily walkable from station and to gorgeous konditerei's, supermarkets for snacks and plenty of coffee shops/ restaurants nearby. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening which had lovely views over the town and the food was plentiful and a great buffet. The hotel seemed to be very family oriented with old school glamour. There was a quieter dining area for older children and smaller groups of adults as well as a large dining room where the buffet was which catered for larger groups. As well as the stunning location, genuinely of note were the Staff at the Terrace. They are a credit to the hotel management and all staff we met were warm, helpful and demonstrated high standards of customer service and care about their guests which really shone through. We really felt looked after and welcome throughout our stay. Thanks so much to Hotel Terrace team, especially the assistant manager receptionist who welcomed us guided us where to go to make the most of our short stay. We'd love to return for longer next time.
