Good stay

There was no staff present to answer queries, there is no free or paid telephone service to call and enquire, I had to borrow phone from another guest to enquire as I do not have international calling on my mobile. Also room was not cleaned after checkout as I had to checkin at the same room.

A decent hotel to sleep overnight during a pitstop, but nothing more!

The location was great, checkin was smooth without any problems (I was very nervous about the checkin process, reading lots of bad reviews from others). The rooms were spacious, clean and had a safe, a tower fan (though not useful in cold October), disposable slippers, hangers (in a wardrobe) and a hair dryer. The location is good as well, situated next to a big church and a beautiful lake (300 metres downstream). Outside, a free electric charging is provided in the hotel car park. However, keep in mind that there are only 2 charging spots available for electric charging - and 1 normal parking spot, which means a total of 3 cars can be parked. If those are full, you would have to park somewhere else and then walk back to the hotel. However, there is ample free space to temporarily stop the card and unload your luggage - without blocking traffic, etc. Also a tip for other travellers: Remember there is no staff at the hotel, its human-staff-free hotel :) - except during breakfast in the morning, where some restaurant staff are visible for 2 hours.

However, the hotel facilities can certainly be improved. Despite the expensive rooms, there is no kettle to heat up water (for hot water), and no facility for a at-least a common microwave or fridge in the lobby. Also, keep in mind that there is no kitchenette, so absolutely no way of eating warm food/drink at this hotel in cold months. Its better if you carry your own kettle or a small induction cook top. The elevator wasn't working, so we had to carry our luggage all the way to the 3rd floor via stairs. The room views are misleading, not all rooms have great views. Many of the rooms are on the back side facing the building behind. So the only thing you are going to see out the windows is the other building on the back, and a big sycamore maple tree. Unfortunately, both the rooms we got faced other apartments and we had to close the curtains shut for privacy. Lastly, the complaints regarding the church bells were true. I actually liked the chime of the bells in the evening and night (upto 10 pm). However, in the morning it bothered me a bit in the morning, as I was in a work related call and it was annoying to have the loud bells going off every 15 minutes.

Nicely located in centrum of Sachseln. Rooms overall OK but not more. Self-check in worked without problems.

No staff to see, not even in the morning at breakfast (we just got a glimpse of one or two ladies which we believe to have been staff). Hallway rather smelly from old floor covering. Restaurant in the house was closed for several weeks. Breakfast OK but relatively basic.

Nice Experience

The location of the hotel if you have a car is great, 40 mins to Interlaken and the location of the hotel itself is very nice. we liked it.

Well elevator was not working and we were in the last floor and I had my kids and few bags and it was not really great experience. Also the hotel is bit on the expensive side.

Beautiful view

We loved self check-in. Room was good size. So happy they gave us a fan. Nice view out of the window.

Carpet was wet right outside the washroom. There was no staff so we couldn’t inform anyone. Next day we informed the staff at the breakfast all they said okay we will check but nothing happened.

The hotel is both historic and modern. The onsite restaurant is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is very easy to find and the transportation is convenient.

The hotel is too close to the clock tower, and the occasional bell sounds are a bit noisy.

Restaurant and restaurant staff were great! Totally recommend it.

No one at check in and it was not simple. Noisy! The person above us must have worn ski boots as bedroom slippers, and then we had people talking loudly in the hall around midnight! Bad night in uncomfortable beds, room was stuffy and humid with the windows open! Shower water kept changing temperature, cold and hot…Bad experience, we’ll never go back!

Location was alright

It was very old and outdated nothing like photos. Tv channels weren’t working and no option for streaming which is disappointing for any English speaking travellers due to non-English tv channels. No staff available it’s all self check in/out which was a bit annoying . The stairs! Don’t book if you have suitcase luggage. Stairs were a nightmare here. Overall not the best stay.

There was no mini fridge in the room and it was annoying especially as it was very hot at night. Also the self service - check in and check out was long and not intuitive - and there wasn't anyone that could do it for you if you wanted to. this is something that one would expect at a hostel / budget hotel and it can be inconvenient, especially when you travel with kids The baby cot was not in the room (even if I requested it beforehand via booking), we had to collect it ourselves from a service room and we also had to pay extra for it

Charming place

Great place to stay. Excellent location. Beautiful facility. Excellent view. Dinner was fabulous and breakfast was good. Clean, quiet, lovely place.

Automated check in was different. I would prefer to have a person to answer questions like where to park and how to access WiFi. I figured it out, but it took a little effort.

Spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean room. I skipped the breakfasts but enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the hotel restaurant. I loved that you have access to ironing board and other essentials

The employees smoke outdoors, at the back so if you have a back room with the windows open you will smell the smoke. Being sensitive to smells that was somewhat problematic for me.

The hotel is in the centre of a lovely village, right by the church and 5 minutes walk from the train station. The bed was comforthable and the bathroom well equipped. The one night the restaurant was open I had an excellent meal. The building has its origins around four hundred years ago but has been refurbished to modern standards

The hotel has lost the concept of personal service. I like to be greeted by a genial host or smiling reception staff to whom I can address any questions I might have. The replacement of real people by automated check-in facilities creates a soul-less environment which some people might like but I dislike. Furthermore to discover a week before I stayed there that the restaurant would be closed on two nights, as indeed were all others in the village. Without a fridge or kettle in the bedroom options were extremely limited. Despite the foregoing I would stay there again.
