Basic, but affordable accommodation

No breakfast

The main issue was that when we arrived, someone had obviously immediately left the property before us as all the floors were soaking wet. It was probably just an old mop problem, but the flat smelled unpleasant and musty. I don’t actually believe that the bed in the front room had been changed fully, as there were hairs on the under sheet and it also smelt of body odour. The flat was generally well equipped and comfortable and after purchasing an air freshener and some Febreze, we managed to conquer the smell over the two days that we were there. However, because I felt that the sheets were not clean, I felt slightly uncomfortable for the whole trip. I’m not really sure that the flat can be described as modern.

As we were going to the Albert Hall the location was the most important thing.

Location was very good. We were going to the Albert Hall which was a 15 minute walk through the park. Plenty of tea making things which could be topped up from the lobby. Also a short walk from Paddington

Creepy and yucky

The staff came across as very friendly and couldn't do more to help.

Where to begin. 1. We experienced problems with the electronic door lock that even the guy who came to help had problems with it before he could fix it. We were locked out for two hours, at the end of the day and dying to use the bathroom. Had to walk back to town and back. 2. Had problems getting Netflix on the telly. Called the manager and the owner unexpectedly arrived (lives in the apartment above or some such), to fix it. We felt highly uncomfortable that he was in our space without consultation. He said then that he would investigate the door lock (at a later time) too, but I take that with a grain of salt because reading past reviews where he has promised to look at the tv and cleanliness and he obviously hasn't. 3. The place gave us the creeps due to the overpowering mustiness and lack of cleanliness. I didn't even like touching the walls (or anything really) and the carpet stank - on day two Mum started getting asthma and wheezing. The dishes and cutlery etc probably only ever get a cursory rinse, they were tacky to the touch. The uncomfortable couch was this weird fold up thing that had a hard back with the padding on the other side (?!!). The beds were just foam mattresses with rumpled, dark coloured, and what seemed to be none too clean sheets - it was just awful laying in bed. Had to really figure out how the shower worked. 4. The location really was in a sad and sorry part of town. Made us feel that Cardiff had been a big mistake in our itinerary. I believe wholeheartedly that Ella Fitzgerald would be turning in her grave if she knew her beautiful name had been pinned to this shocking accommodation. The owners should be ashamed of themselves.

Adequate place to stay but lacking a homely feel to it.

Nice bedding, decent shower and clean kitchen.

Wasn’t the easiest process to get in. Lack of bedding for the sofa bed despite requesting prior to stay. Feels like student accommodation in a slightly dodgy area of town. Quite a cold property (not sure the heating was working) and a lack of soft touches to make it feel homely.

Layout, decor, comfort all excellent. It was quiet & an easy walk to Cardiff centre & castle. Plenty of info & handy local facility maps in the info pack. Good amount of wardrobe space, comfy beds. VERY good/friendly communication with owner when a couple of queries arose.

Unfortunately not the tidiest of streets, but that's a tiny issue really. We couldn't find oven instructions (unfamiliar with electric/ fan ovens, so that would've been helpful).

Pleasant

Location was very close to the town centre. Layout of the flat is good and facilities are generally good. There are plenty of convenience stores, restaurants and take-aways close by. WiFi was good. Owner was very responsive.

General cleanliness was not great; dust/comwebs in places. Beds and pillows were not that comfirtable. Those in the flat upstairs were talking loudly in to the early hours.

Great location. Very spacious - a luxury for ONE person. Much better than a bland chain hotel.

The location was excellent - a short eight minutes from the town centre and station. Great to be quite central and with bonus of being far enough from any late night noise. A very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood.

I struggled to open the key lock on arrival and had to phone the owner for assistance. Also asked the waste- collection guy for help too. After some phone dialogue between them the Waste collection guy did manage to open the key-safe. A big THANK YOU to him. Didn’t like the shower curtain. They are a pet hate of mind. Looks as though a shower screen existed previously, and suspect someone broke it at some stage.

Fijne plek, dichtbij het centrum voor een goed prijs, mag wel wat aan comfort gedaan worden.

De ligging van het appartement ten opzichte van het centrum en het feit dat er (als was het niet zo een mooie) tuin bij was was ook een plus en de ruime slaapkamers en woonkamer, een goeie douche met meer dan genoeg kracht. Onze auto kon voor de deur parkeren omdat de hosts een parkeervergunning voor die dagen hadden aangevraagd, zeer fijn. de deur met code was ook handig. Er waren genoeg pubs/eetzaakjes en supermarktjes in de buurt op loopafstand. En het feit dat wij te vroeg arriveerden, maar wel meteen in het appartement mochten was ook super lief.

hHet was erg vochtig/schimmelig in het huis. Verwarming werkte niet er was wel een elektrische kachel maar daarvan werd de draad en stekker erg heet, dus niet erg betrouwbaar. De (slaap)bank in de kamer zat niet echt comfortabel en er is eigenlijk te weinig plek om te zitten voor 4 volwassenen. De krukken en bar zijn ook niet erg comfortabel had beter in plaats van dat een tafel met stoelen kunnen staan. Er lagen beschimmelde houten lepels in de la zodat we de hele la en bestek moesten schoonmaken voordat we het konden gebruiken. De bedden zijn zeer smal (was natuurlijk altijd kan) maar daarbij was de zijkant zo slap dat we allemaal steeds bijna uit bed vielen hahaha. de badkamer was vol met schimmel en het onderhoud aan de kapotte tegels en dergelijk was ook achterstallig.
