Mountain Range Cottage

This property has to have the best view in all of Ella! It’s off the beaten track, via a rather bumpy tuktuk ride but when you arrive and see the view it’s all worth it! Kumara and his wife couldn’t have been more welcoming with a lovely cup of tea to greet us. We had the most delicious dinner and breakfast with them. The accommodation is quite basic but charming and clean. We were visiting with our teenage daughters who were delighted to realise we were only a 5min walk through the tea bushes to the Flying Ravana Zip line. It’s out of the very busy central area of Ella which suited us perfectly.

The track to the accommodation is very bumpy and narrow which may worry some people but it’s all part of the adventure! It’s amazing how many people and stuff you can fit in a tuktuk!

The drive up in owner’s Tuk Tuk was frightening. Mud track with sheer drops. 30 min walk from town. No fridge. No bar. Very isolated spot.

Although the views were fantastic it was a difficult place to find and down a track, even difficult in a Tuktuk and too far to walk from town. The room was damp, smelly damp, TV didn’t work, sheets dirty bathroom floor sloppy when wet, no shower curtain. Cottage is work in progress and looks like a building site. We left after 1st night because of the damp smell.
