Tunnel Gap Homestay

Amazing location, so close to railway station and city centre. Amazing host, so friendly and accommodating, helped us with visa extension. Breakfast was delicious and so fresh. Room was so comfortable and had an amazing nights sleep. Wish we could have stayed longer.

So close to the centre of town but away from all the bustle. Surrounded by tea plantations. A lovely veranda to sit out on. Very friendly family with so many gorgeous cats, dogs and a kitten. Great cookery lesson.

We truly enjoyed every minute in this homestay. Great base location for our 3 days in Ella ; quite, nice outdoor facilities, wonderful breakfast.....and Sudha (the owner) was the cherry on the pie ! What a warm welcome and hospitality troughout our stay. Definitely to recommend if you're looking for a true Sir Lankian experience

The place is super close to the train station, and the house dog is really sweet. We got welcome tee and borrowed an umbrella.

The whole room smelled bad — mouldy and just unhealthy — including the pillows, the bed, and the bathroom. The bathroom was also dirty, which made it even worse. The bed was uncomfortable and too short for me, and the mosquito net was the awkward kind that hangs down and makes the small sleeping space feel even more cramped. There was even a little sign on the wall saying not to expect much from a budget room. I’ve stayed in plenty of budget hostels and homestays before, and this place was well below standard. I know accommodation in Ella is pricey, but even if this place cost 3000 a night, I’d give it a max 7 out of 10 — definitely not worth a higher rating.
