La Capitainerie was a lovely place to stay overnight in Amboise. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and very conveniently located, making it easy to enjoy the town, the Loire, and the château. Bear in mind this is a very old building with huge character which some might find wanting...but it is old! We loved the decor. Amboise itself has a wonderful atmosphere, especially in the evening.
It was a very good stop on our journey, and we appreciated having such a pleasant base. We would happily recommend La Capitainerie to others visiting Amboise.
In a prolonged stay in a heatwave, people might appreciate air con, but retro fitting a building like this might make that hard.
