Aerie House

The location is exactly as advertised - in the heart of everything. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a restaurant next door but we chose Aerie House with that in mind. We actually sat on our balcony for an hour each evening just watching all the influencers fussing about the perfect shot. In the future we would stay somewhere a little more mellow with more of a local vibe, but that is no fault of this property. If you want to be in the Instagram “it” spot, this place delivers! This was also a great home base for walking down to Armeni and the Oia to Fira hike. Note - I only included photos taken from the property itself so you don’t have to wonder!

We knew there would be cats, and for the most part that was delightful. However, many many cats in a small location with no green space means exactly what you think it does - cat “evidence” at your front door. The outdoor furniture was fine, but just be mindful where you sit. We saw several cats marking their territory on the patio. The cats are not a fault of the property - just good to know. The dishwasher did not work from the moment we arrived. We like to shop local markets and bakeries when we travel and have a little picnic in the evenings which meant we actually used the kitchen and I don’t think this property expected that. The dishes on the shelves could have been cleaner and the first time we used the dishwasher it flashed an error. The host replied that she was unable to assist and to wash the dishes by hand which was fine except there were no dish towels (or even paper towels not that that would have been environmentally friendly). The trash bin was tiny and there wasn’t any recycling option. Again - I just think this place wasn’t expecting “dining in”. So if you travel like we do and want to bring wine,olives, fava, feta, AMAZING tomatoes, fruit, yogurt and olive oil back home - just pack a dish towel and an extra trash bag! (Worth noting that there are 2 excellent bakeries and a grocery mini mart nearby - the grocery store has way better prices on wine!)

Very nice location, nice host and easy to explore Oia by foot, wake up to blue dooms and Oia Caldera, Aegean Sea view was romantic and mesmerizing

A hot tub with Caldera view would add much!
