Very happy overall!

The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. He assisted us with dinner reservations and was always willing to help us book activities He spoke perfect English and Spanish Our room (a loft) was very spacious!

We had dinner one evening at their hotel and the food was not the best This was actually our worst dinner in Varenna We also had to go to Hotel Victoria (a different property) for breakfast The breakfast was excellent though It was a bit cumbersome because we had bad weather for most of our stay on the lake Casa du Lac should serve breakfast for their guests in their property as well

It is a very tired hotel inside, and is therefore extremely expensive for what it is. You are paying for the view alone; the place needs a huge amount of investment to bring it up to date.

A beautiful suite with a terrace over the lake, it was a very relaxing place to spend a few nights. Breakfasts were excellent and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Strongly recommended.

Gorgeous hotel with exceptional staff.

Our original room (Double room #30) was right next to the lobby, and after the first night we realized it wouldn't be possible to sleep, with all the noise just outside. So we requested a room change and the staff was gracious enough to grant it. Their treatment changed the whole experience, as well as the incredible breakfast, and their overall amazing views throughout the hotel.

Double room #30 is unacceptably close to the lobby and the noise is literally inside the room. Only approved for VERY heavy sleepers.

Good but some issues that meant it’s too expensive for what was received

The location is absolutely incredible, best view we had on our travels around Como. Stunning!!!!!!! Room was beautiful, amazing linen, bed, decor and bathroom. The staff were helpful and the front of house manager really did try her best, in a situation where there were a few issues with the room. The staff at the grill restaurant and the bar went the extra mile for us.

We had some issues, electricity supply was temperamental, there was a problem with the hard wired fire alarm not working properly and frequent disruption in the room with trades/housekeeping. The breakfast was poor in terms of service and the availability. We didn’t like that we needed to change hotel every morning to have breakfast, very inconvenient and no real reason when they have the ability to offer it there. Given all of the above, We were quite unlucky with the rates paid, seemed to be extortionate that week at around £900 a night, it then dropped to £450 the next day so we would not stay at that price again, we would wait for it to be lower.

The most romantic place ever !!!

Amazing gem ,brand new renovated rooms, prime location, tremendous view from the room, good restaurant and the most perfect receptionist Alissio. Thank you for a great weekend.

I don't know if it happened because it is a new renovated room but there were some problems with the air condition , also the T.V didn't work, after asking to repair it, they did and it happened again the next day. No elevator !!!

Great place to stay in a beautiful quaint town.

The staff was kind and helpful. Our room had an amazing view and was reasonably close to center of activity and easy to get around to other places. The breakfast was a nice array and tasty; the service was great.

Breakfast location is seasonal, you walk up to the sister hotel. We were unaware until we checked in. Not a deal breaker but an inconvenience to get a cup of coffee. The restaurant on property was also seasonal. Better to know up front.

heavenly & gluten free

location, service, kindness, helpfulness. staff at reception were wonderful! wonderful gluten free breakfast with so much choice 😍, lovely lakeside terrace for a cup of tea in the dark with the gorgeous sound of the lake lapping. and an amazingly comfortable bed! slippers & bath robe included. seriously above my normal budget but well worth the treat, waking up to sunset creeping over the mountains with the almost full moon reflecting in the calm lake

The heart of Varenna in the heart of Varenna

The experience here was exceptional. The staff was communicative ahead of the visit and helpful throughout. The hotel is situated perfectly in a central location to access everything Varenna has to offer. The hotel offers full bar service, great food, excellent breakfast, and lakeside seating reserved for hotel guests. From check-in to check-out I felt well taken care of. If I ever make it back I will stay here again.

Lake Como is beautiful

All staff were extremely helpful and polite. If you are in this hotel in summer, you can swim from the platform. From the train station, you must walk down a flight of stairs and along the main road to get to the hotel, about 20 minutes. I did not call a taxi

Varenna is very very crowded on sunny days. The restaurants are full. If you must eat, you must make reservation beforehand

Excellent location and view!

The breakfast was amazing and well rounded - they gave a little tower of fruit, pastries and yogurt to each table. In addition we could order eggs and bacon. The room was spacious and the terrace was so amazing! Lots of space and very peaceful to sit out there and watch the lake while drinking. The staff was also amazing - we wanted to just drink and eat on our terrace and they opened our bottle of wine and walked upstairs to our room with wine glasses, plates and silverware. There was a train strike also the day we were supposed to arrive and the hotel actually reached out to let us know and reserved a taxi for us, which was so helpful because without them we may have ended up being stuck in Milan. I would definitely recommend a night here - the hotel, rooms, and service were just excellent!

Just perfect!

I wish I could give it 11/10! it’s right on the lake, there’s a platform where you can swim every morning when the lake is quiet and calm and the food was amazing and the staff are so friendly and helpful!

This is by far the best value in Varenna. Outstanding hospitality, great breakfast and aperitivo, and dedicated dock for swimming (away from the crowds), makes this a real gem.
