Royal treatment at the Hotel Royal Victoria!

The property is absolutely beautiful and right on the water. The staff is welcoming and professional. The breakfast was fabulous! We found our room to be extremely comfortable and had a balcony to look out on the water. We even loved our little fake fireplace, which made the room feel so cozy. Aziz, who works as head bartender, is warm and friendly and made us feel like we were long lost friends. We had dinner at their fancy restaurant and loved every minute of it.

It wasn’t a problem for us, but if you are not a fan of ringing bells, you might consider wearing earplugs at night. The bell tower is very near the hotel. We are used to this kind of thing, and it did not bother us at all.

A Gem in Beautiful Varenna

We were upgraded to a balcony room with an impeccable view of the lake. The room was clean and had a prosecco bottle and card to welcome us upon our arrival. The only thing I remarked was the small bathroom, although, clean and equipped with plush robes. The breakfast had a phenomenal view and many choices beautifully displayed. The staff, Marina and Francesca, were so friendly and polite. The pool area, bar areas, restaurants, and lobby were all maintained in pristine condition. The location was in a charming piazza next to Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero. Truly a gem in magnificent Varenna.

Nice location, great addition with pool

Fabulous location, but personally thought that the room was overpriced for a junior suite for two days! Really liked pool and the fact you could get into villa cipressi botanical garden too! Breakfast was good! Loved location in Varenna in the square and was quieter compared to that of Bellagio.

Overpriced, personally given the cost for the suite room - thought hotel needed a refresh including the suite which I felt wasn’t really a suite, more a larger room. Decor and style very mismatched.

the view from our suite was spectacular. we really had a full view 180 degrees on the lake. the breakfast is worth the money. so many choices from eggs to pastries...spectacular! we could hear an opera concert in the village from our room. So romantic! the pool is very nice and their is access to a public beach a few feet away form the property. You can swim in Lake Como!

Our stay at Hotel Royal Victoria in Varenna was a magnificent experience!

Everything about this hotel and our stay there was exceptional! The view was beyond description spectacular. The service from check-in to check-out was above expectation. The staff, especially Martina, Mario, Azziz, and Shady, as well as absolutely everyone, was professional and also caring and friendly. The food and drinks were the best of any hotel in which we have stayed anywhere. Location - best, in my opinion, of anywhere on Lake Como. We loved the size of the village and the size of the hotel versus others nearby. The hotel is beautiful, elegant, inviting, and not stuffy - it's perfect!

Ideal location beside the lake for a weeks stay which enabled easy access to surrounding towns

The view from our room (103) was superb looking out over the Lake. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was all you could ask for good with a wide variety of choice . The room was good with a large comfortable bed and lovely balcony.

Minor point but the hanging space could have been better to accommodate long dresses. Mirror position, which large enough was sited with the sun behind so difficult to see yourself.

Welcome drink would have been amazing if offered on the roof top bar, then we would have ordered a drink. Downstairs not as welcoming or as nice. Breakfast no welcome, no one to greet you and let you know where to sit. Staff seem stressed, not a pleasent vibe. Next day had breakfast in room, a lot nicer. Out of all hotels we stayed at on this trip, the breakfast offering was not as nice. Last night, dressing gowns were removed from room and not returned, was nice to sit on balcony in evening with the robe on, or if we wanted a swim earlier.

Our room was beautiful, and loved the special touches of welcome fizz and strawberries when we arrived.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we went across to Bellagio for the afternoon. I had hoped our cases would have been ready in our room when we got back.

The location is excellent and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bar & restaurant area is very nice and has clearly had some much needed investment . The rest of the hotel needs to catch up !

The cost of Eur 500 per night for a tiny, dark , pokey room with a minuscule bathroom (which you could only just squeeze into ) , plastic looking headboard & cheap art was atrocious value for money . The management must think we’re stupid .There wasn’t even a proper curtain over the window -just a voile in room 109. It should cost Eur 150 max. They should really knock two bedrooms into one . The hotel is very tired & in need of some much needed investment and some style .Resting on its laurels of history doesn’t cut it . The reception area has horrible old velvet chairs like an old peoples home with ugly old furniture . The terrace walls need painting and the cheap gravel needs upgrading .

Wonderful place to expierence Lake Como

Beautiful location. We had a balcony that over looked the lake. We were able to spend a rainy day in the room with beautiful views. Hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the ferry and train station. Breakfast was top tier. Concierge was extremely helpful with dinning recommendations, reservations and helping us navigate the train. We would definitely stay here again.

Breathtaking views and excellent service

The location is fantastic! The view from our balcony was breathtaking - straight across the lake! The hotel has a free shuttle bus that will pick you up and drop you back at the train station. The train from Milan Centrale is an easy hour journey to Varenna. From the hotel it is a 3 min walk to some restaurants and small souvenir shops - but fyi very steep steps (I held onto my mum! But she’s 77 and she made it up and down without too much bother). The hotel staff are so so friendly and even though we tried a bit of Italian - they all speak brilliant English! Cannot fault this stay. We had a junior suite and it was big, well equipped and there was a small bottle of champagne and a note on arrival - lovely touch.
