Beautiful hotel in the heart of Varenna! The location is excellent with cafes, restaurants and incredible lake views right on your door step! The staff are exceptionally accommodating and very hospitable. They went above and beyond to help us with transportation and make our stay super comfortable. The Visteria restaurant is a must-do experience- the food was some of the best we’ve eaten in Italy and the service is unparalleled. The breakfast is also well worth every penny. Not only is there a large variety of hot/cold food, they served an array of fresh fruit, the creamiest scrambled eggs, made fresh coffee/teas and it all tasted so divine! Our room was pristine clean with lots of little touches/amenities (eg. kettle with an array of tea and coffee, little biscuits gifted to us for free, champagne on the house etc.). We loved our stay and would highly recommend you experience Hotel Royal Victoria! It was luxurious!

I had a very disappointing experience with a waiter at the hotels grill restaurant. He was very rude and declined to serve us dessert because we had eaten our dinner elsewhere. The manager at reception intervened and successfully resolved the issue. Because of how rude the waiter was to us, she provided us with dessert on the house. Overall we loved our stay and this definitely should not influence your opinion to stay here - just be mindful.

Amazing views and location....

The hotel is in an excellent location with beautiful views and pool that made our stay memorable. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and the complimentary water, treats, and champagne waiting in our room made us feel genuinely welcomed upon arrival. Breakfast was included and was a nice treat. The room service team was consistently attentive and efficient throughout our stay, and the overall property itself is beautiful and well maintained.

Unfortunately, our room was located on the first floor near the staircase leading to the restaurant, bar, and pool areas. Music from these areas could be clearly heard from the room, even while lying in bed. During our first two nights, the music woke us up around 5am, which was not the relaxing experience we expected during our honeymoon. We raised the issue with the hotel and requested a room change. While the staff instead offered a complimentary aperitivo and assured us the music issue would be addressed, the noise continued, with music still audible late into the night and beginning again around 7am. A room change would have been a much better solution. To add to the frustration, the complimentary aperitivo that was offered as compensation was mistakenly charged to our bill at checkout, requiring additional follow-up to have it removed. Overall, there were some wonderful aspects to our stay, but the noise issues and handling of the situation left us with a mixed impression.
