An oasis of quiet tranquility

Set in a tranquil woodland vale the silence was deafening. David and Leonora were hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic place and we will return in the future.

An absolute gem.

Everything. Hosts David & Leo are absolutel stars. We were arriving late, and they were so patient with us. We felt from the moment we got out of the car that we were with friends. The accommodation is spotless, with separate access, private bathroom and lovely bedroom there is plenty of space. The beautiful garden is a joy to wake up to. Breakfast was truly delicious, and David is so knowledgeable about foraging. He's a delight to talk to. Leo is fully of joy and cheer, she went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous. Fresh flowers in the bedroom and bathroom was a lovely touch.

A gem of a b&b with the most delightful hosts

Our hosts, David and Leonora were the most amiable, lovely hosts we have ever had. Set deep and tucked away in a beautiful glen reached via a dirt track road (don’t worry it’s better than it looks) it’s the most peaceful setting. Greeted warmly with tea/coffee and home made carrot cake (Delicious!) on arrival, we felt more as friends meeting than guests. The room is cosy, warm and comfortable. The bed is very nice. With our own dining room for breakfast next door. David and Leonora could not do enough for us, recommending the local pub(a couple of miles away in Stockland village) very warm ambience and great food. We slept very well and breakfast cooked by David was very delicious. Yoghurt, stewed fruits, homemade jams and a hearty cooked breakfast including eggs from the free range chickens roaming around the house set us up perfectly for the long drive home. We heartily recommend Higher Quantock B & B, and thank David and Leo for, in all honesty and our opinion, the best B&B we have stayed in. We will DEFINITELY be back!

I wanted to return here after three years ( haven’t been on holiday in that time ) and it didn’t disappoint in any way!

It is in lovely, peaceful setting, with trees, shrubs and flowers, so there were plenty of birds and even butterflies ( late for this time of the year in indifferent weather ) The comfortable accommodation is in a private part of the main house, with its own entrance.

Relax and Unwind in Devon

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like family. David and Leo were attentive to all our needs and requirements. The annex where we stayed was clean and very comfortable with lots of big windows to take in the beautiful surroundings. It's definitely off the beaten track, but therein lies it's charm. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The breakfasts were wonderful. Kept us going all day! Fresh eggs from the four chickens that roam freely and a warm greeting from the lovely black Labradors.

A lovely stop over in beautiful surroundings

David and Leonora made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The annex gave us plenty of space and the breakfast was incredible. Home made produce was a lovely touch. Lovely to see the free roaming chickens outside the window. Beautiful natural gardens full of wild flowers and vegetable patches, surrounded by woodlands made for a relaxing stay.

Our only dislike was the road to the B&B which is a track road through the woods and as such is very rough in places. Not a complaint but certainly something to be aware of especially if your vehicle is low to the ground.

Memorable stay!

Lovely secluded rural retreat for an overnight stay with very friendly and hospitable hosts, David and Leonora who go out of their way to look after you and make you welcome . Recommendation of local pub for dinner (and booking of table😊)and a wonderful breakfast all made for a memorable stay. Thank you x

Beautiful, relaxing stay with the friendliest hosts

Excellent vegetarian breakfast. The hosts Leo and David were so kind. They even made me a delicious meal though I did not expect them to. I had such a relaxing stay and was made to feel truly welcome. Thank you. The setting is gorgeous and tranquil, and they encouraged me to walk round their 4 acre haven garden, complete with chickens. David is very knowledgeable about plants and will happily chat to you about them if you are interested... or anything! A lovely couple in a lovely spot away from it all. Recommended.
