the bar is very nice and the staff were polite.
the hotel part of the building is tired and in need of maintenance, the mattress was very old and not comfortable. The door to the hotel section was a fob lock but was accessible to anyone as it did not close properly and as it in the bar area it did not feel very secure. The lift was not working and nor was it last time i stayed a few months ago. I think the owners need to invest in the upkeep of their property and business as it was a really nice place a few years ago.

Lift broken, tv didn’t work, mattress could do with a change as could the pillows and the duvet.

Great location, just 15 minutes walk to the Utilita Arena, and 10 mins from jewellery quarter. And about 20 mins walk to Broad Street area.
Hotel was perfect, set in the quaint St Pauls Square opposite the church. Rooms were light, spotless and airy with comfy bed and lovely bathroom.
Staff were super helpful and friendly. Oh,.. breakfast was delicious too! Thank you to everyone who made our stay perfect.
Nothing.

Great location for jewellery quarter
There was a wedding on when we stayed & we weren’t informed about it beforehand. When we turned up we were told that there was no use of the bar and we had to enter via the side door (which was always locked - so we had to jump up and knock on the window and wait in December for someone to come & open it). The music went on late (sounded great, but I am pregnant and was looking forward to a good nights sleep without the dog!), and the room was freezing - we couldn’t put the heating up any more than 24 on the thermostat and it was sooo cold, it just never heated. If we were 10 years younger & not expecting a baby, I probably could have accepted the situation, but unfortunately if we’d have known about the wedding, lack of use of the facilities & the music going on til 12ish, we’d have just booked elsewhere. Disappointed!

This is one of our favourite hotels in Birmingham. The staff are lovely and the facilities are lovely.
Now don’t get me wrong, we were put in room A2. Do NOT book this room, my advice is to contact the hotel first and ensure you are not in this room.
Reason being that the single pane widows are quite drafty but the extractor fan outside the window runs ALL night and makes sleeping difficult.

Breakfast excellent. A good sized room for a City hotel. View interesting.
The lift was Out of order
The sliding door, bathroom - cupboard had a disconcerting habit of sliding open when occupant in bathroom area.

Location and variety of easy access to bars and restaurants
The bed was most uncomfortable plus poor quality pillows in both rooms booked making a sure of a restless night’s sleep. Adding to the fact that the rooms were located extremely close to air conditioning and cooking extractors situated right out side of windows.
Not a restful time !! Lift not working !!

The staff were great. Especially in the restaurant/bar and reception areas. Location was excellent.
The rooms are very basic and tired. Lift weren’t working, so a lot of steps for my 79 year old mum.

the bar area + location. staff were friendly
the bed was small uncomfortable with awful pillows. The fire alarm went off twice this morning waking us.
5.0 / 10.0
The room was pleasant and nicely designed/decorated with a lovely window facing the square. The bathroom was super clean with lovely towels/robes and a good shower.
The room temperature was quite cool due to the window not being double glazed, sound proofed or insulated. Furthermore, the room was very noisy, we stayed on a Saturday night and the noise from the bar/loud music, people partying went on well past 12:00. This wasn't expected and dampened the enjoyment of our stay.

Cannot fault anything about our stay
Only negative thing I can say is you could do with more than 2 coat hangers

Lovely hotel and location
Pillows were horrible hard and bulky
You need to cater for guests who like a flatter softer pillow
Can’t fill the kettle up from bathroom tap easily

The staff were very friendly, especially the doorman and waiting staff at breakfast. Reception staff less so. Location good and picturesque view onto the square
The acoustics are awful. The thud of the music from the bar below was constant and didn’t stop until well after midnight, very poor sound insulation between floors. Similarly, there were lorries outside at 6am on Sunday morning and so noisy because of no secondary glazing on the windows. The room itself was quite small and very sparse, felt like the designers had just “chucked” so furniture in it! Tv very high on wall too.

Clean room
Friendly staff
Nice touch for mini bar but the fridge didn't work, so everythingwas room temperature! Stayed Friday night but it doesn't mention that the bar will have very loud music until it closes at 1am. Not great when you're on the 1st floor above it all!!

Lovely place to stay
Good area
We only stayed the one night
Room was a good size
We were told there was complementary drinks in the room, but for two there was one glass one small bottle of Prosecco and an orange juice. Not really the right amount for two people staying.
We also had a little trouble with the parking with the lady that booked us in but the lady on reception in the morning sorted it all out for us.
Parking seems quite steep.

Well placed for the city centre and the Utilita Arena, cosy room very clean, restaurant food was fantastic and the bar was well stocked.
The cost of parking £21.50 a bit pricey, the building has single glazing and was noisy at the front of the building with people leaving the pub.

Clean and attractive building. Good location
The ground floor bar / restaurant had very loud music and outside smoking area if you are out on the first floor - I strongly reccomend asking to be moved.

Quite loud in the night from the bar downstairs

Nothing much
I was told via booking.com that the car parking would be arranged with no extra charge. A day later I was told via booking.com that the car parking was not guaranteed and would cost an extra £20. odd. Birmingham was a filthy city full of rubbish and road closures. The hotel lift was not working. The room was very small the window high up on the wall with a very sad view. Noise all night from an air con unit right outside. My drink at the bar that night was certainly not a gin and tonic but something which I returned, as it tasted very bad indeed. It was replaced free of charge. We did not risk breakfast. Overpriced and deceptive on parking.

The lift was broken.

The hotel itself was very presentable. The bar area and food were amazing and definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere was very chilled, and there was a Dj on the Friday who played some really good music
I have visited the hotel quite a few times a lift is out of order. There are four flights of stairs to climb, and it's a lot if you have health and luggage as well. This needs to be addressed as this would rule out a lot of visitors' access to the rooms .
I also feel that the staff need a bit of training in customer service as they all looked like they didn't really want to be there it would have made a big difference to the service if the didn't appear so "flat"
