2 night stay cut short, due to no hot water

Ideal for Chester town centre

We got there early & we were told we couldn't book in yet, which wasn't a problem so we just put our car registration on there system so we could get the free parking for our 2 night break. We said we would be back later to get the room key When we got back we were waiting at the reception, then I get a call from the hotel, I replied saying we were at reception waiting for our room key. We were then told they had no hot water but we could stay the night for free which we excepted as I'd had a drink and was not happy driving home. We had to rearranged are Miller and Carter meal we had booked for the next night. The next day we had our breakfast which we enjoyed, but we went home after that, we did enjoy our stay which was cut short but felt a bit disappointed that it affected our stay. These things happen but it doesn't help when you have been looking to stay for a few nights. The staff done there best and they were very professional with what they had to deal with.

Short stay in Chester

Lovely room, on site free parking, fantastic pub with great food and interesting local beers. The staff were fabulous, really friendly and polite. The riverside location is very scenic, perfect for a walk around Chester centre and the walls.

Location, Room and Bar/Restaurant excellent. The breakfast was of made of good quality produce.

A Lovely Stay

Everything - the location on the river Dee is lovely - the food, staff and accommodation faultless. Great parking - a lovely 10 minute walk along the river into Chester. We will be back soon.

We liked the location of the hotel, was near enough in the centre to Chester, was easy to walk into the centre! Lovely views of the river. The size of the rooms were a good size as well.

The Boathouse is in a great location and Chester is fantastic.

Location by the river, great car parking...being able to park day of arrival to when we decided to leave the next day included in the cost was brilliant and in a secure area...keep that going! And choices for breakfast was very good.

Didn't like being woken up at 6.20am Saturday morning by a very noisy truck or bins not sure what it was but there was a lot of very loud banging about just outside our room!! Not good when you want a lie in! And then 5 minutes later the next doors child started crying out and we could them after that....you can't help that but just a shame the walls are very thin! Also why were there only 2 channels on the tv...just channel 4 and 5 that was it! Surely you should have free view at least!

Breakfast was good but the beans weren't hot ,xmas menu was excellent value for money, staff were very friendly

Bathrobes could have been a bit bigger ,mold in corner of shower and under rim of sink ,dust webs on ceiling over bed ,coffee pods not replenished enough. In restaurant not enough choice for lighter bites ,even though we asked for parking it was a first come first serve basis which resulted in us not using the car to visit places as we weren't sure there would be a space on our return

Close location to the city centre via a walk along the river or through the park. Free parking, but make sure you log your car reg in the restaurant. Room was warm (upper floor) and I don't even think the heating was on in the room. Breakfast was good and a choice of cooked or continental Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Limited choice for gluten free but there are some options. Breakfast was slow the 2nd morning, but I think everyone had come in at the one time even though they do ask you a rough time that you will be coming in when you check in. Staff did apologise more than once about the slow service

Good, but some improvements would be good.

Nice room, looked the part, complimentary water, biscuits & hot drinks. Towels, flannels & toiletries - all good. Parking on site included - good. Very helpful staff. Reading lights at the bed were handy. Plenty of useful hooks for towels & clothes. Good location. Potential for a really nice relaxing stay…..

Room was a bit tired, and could really do with a deep clean. Light switches were all sticky, the extractor fan in bathroom didn’t work, tap on sink was very noisy, shower dripped, shower was very hot & it was difficult to get a decent safe temperature, and toilet seat squeaked loudly!! Not ideal for a relaxing night / nights sleep. Mouldy patches around shower base - not nice to drop your towel / clothes on. Just a few tweaks would really make all the difference to this property. Very relaxing stay. Would recommend for stays in Chester.

Comfy and quiet accommodation. Good quality beds, bedding, towels and toiletries. Tea& coffee making facilities. Lovely location and quiet as almost traffic free. Good breakfast choice & nicely cooked. So nice to breakfast overlooking the river. The evening meal we had was excellent.

The room & bathroom could do with more coat hooks. A second beside table too would help.

A bed mattress and pillows are always very personal taste, but too soft for our liking I’m afraid. Also, the steep stairs to the rooms were difficult, especially for my 80 year old mother.

Good hotel for a short break.

Room stylish and modern, bathroom actually had somewhere to put a toilet bag ( which I find a rarity ). Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice. Hotel only a 10 minute walk to Chester City centre, though it is a climb, whether you go via the road or the park.

Great location on the River Dee, wonderful room and meals - a fantastic staff!

Great location, walking distance to the Chester walls and the Chester Cathedral, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed all our breakfasts at The Boathouse and we had a great dinner there as well. The dining room offers a beautiful view of the River Dee and our room also had a very nice view of the river as well. The staff were terrific and on-site parking was no issue. Our room was comfortable and well appointed.
