Amazing stay

Everything was amazing, all clean and tidy, the kitchen was fully equipped, room with adjustable heating, very silent and the bed were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, we appreciated their kindness and free coffee included. The common room is cozy and the position is both great to explore and to have fun in the university part of the city. We would come back again 100%

Basic, but really lovely

Fantastic location- very central , beautiful place. Great vibe. Amazing staff- friendly and welcoming. Really nice atmosphere in the communal are. Spotlessly clean while environmentally conscious - a big plus. Kettle and microwave in the communal area. 24 hours access. Safe.

Very basic - to be expected from a private room in a hostel, but at such high price I was hoping for more than two tiny beds , a tiny desk and a chair. No wardrobe, very little space, and VERY thin walls (with people next door chattig till late and it was as if they were in the same room). Everything else was also basic - but at the same time , very clean so no complaints there

The kitchen is small and always full, beds have no curtains, there are no lockers in rooms, the toilets and showers are in the middle of the hallway, they are joint for both men and women. It was very loud both from outside and inside

Good value for money

Stuff was really nice it is a good place for meeting people since you have the common area (kitchen and dining room). The location is perfect because you are within a 5-10 minute walk from everything

It is just a little tricky getting to your room (depending which one you are in) and I would have hoped for more bathrooms but aside from that I would higly recommend

it’s not a luxurious place, but the people definitely add character and value.

1. Location. Very close to tourist attractions, the Dome, Library, restaurants, Cafe, canals. 2. Clean 3. Security system. You can enter the hostel by using a daily updated code. 4. Reception people. Dick was an absolute sweetheart, when I told him I couldn’t sleep at the second floor bunk due to my feat of heights(which was not his problem at all) he solved my issue with a smile. I wanted to tip him, however didn’t manage to catch him on the following day, there is a new receptionist every day :(. Anyways, huge applause to this man. Another receptionist, made a good recommendation for a canal trip company on a boat with roof on windy and rainy day. 5. Beautiful garden 6. Free towel 7. They serve coffee, tea, couy bar area. 8. Speedy WiFi 9. They have many tables for studying, as there are many guests students (however they all behave and respect the quiet of the place). 10. The room (female 4 bed dorm) had a separate sink, table, large window with wooden curtains, that made the room black out. 11. They had soap on every sink+towels

1. Noise at night. There is a student club right next door. I was a bit unlucky and my windows were facing that direction. At 23.00-~01.00 can get pretty noisy, so better have earplugs with you. I had wax earplugs and they have saved my nights 2. Beds are a bit unstable, so if someone is climbing on the second floor, or turns at night you are gonna feel it. 3. I didn’t see a hairdryer. Maybe had to ask for it, but I brought my own, so that wasn’t an issue.

The location was great, the room was cozy and nice, showers were clean and the staff were very nice. Beds were very comfortable

Great base for exploring Utrecht with useful facilities.

Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen with stovetop, toaster oven, and cooking equipment, very friendly and helpful staff, clean linen and towels, very clean facilities, great location and base for exploring Utrecht, reasonably priced.

Doors are very noisy and I was frequently woken at night by closing and creaking doors although this is more the fault of inconsiderate (mainly male) guests at the hostel. Shower is a 10 second button press which gets tedious. Lockers are a bit inconvenient and you need a 10 euro cash deposit so be prepared.

I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to come across Stroeis Hostel, what an experience.

It was v alternative for me as a senior citizen but it was one of the best places I gave ever stayed in. The building us v old and is full if character. My room was semi-attic but had the most solid steel bed ever, guaranteed to give a great night's sleep.

Nice friendly place - but not too considerate of female safety.

The welcome was really friendly, it has a nice communal area and lovely garden.

As a single woman travelling on her own, I was a bit disappointed to be placed in a room with just 6 other men. Someone moved into our room at midnight and turned on the light disturbing everyone in the room very late, but this wasn't their fault. I'm mostly a bit confused (and gutted) as to why they'd place a single woman alone in a dorm with just men, when there were other dorms available, with other women staying in them. Something for the hostel to definitely consider in the future. The price was also way too expensive for the quality of the hostel, but I guess that's just the Netherlands.

Top three hostels I’ve stayed in and I’ve stayed in quite a few. Not super fancy but everything was clean and comfortable. Great location and the hostel itself was very pretty and relaxing in a cool old building. Loved the patio and the common area and we really enjoyed relaxing outside and watching the animals in the garden pond. Staff were also super nice and welcoming and gave some fun recommendations for Utrecht. You can also get a good cup of coffee in the morning.

Very noisy street during the weekends makes sleeping very rough, even with ear plugs. Having curtains for privacy on the bottom bunks and tightly closed windows would have helped.

The staff was very friendly. Location is great. There is a kitchen which could be a great plus if staying a few nights. They also let you leave a bag of you arrive before check in time

Rooms are crowded with no place to put a bag. No way of locking room door and lockers are only if you leave after they open check in. Since I had to leave at 7 - no locker for me. Very noisy: doors bang, you can hear the next room's loud guests and anyone who walks in and out of the bathroom. Windows are not tight fitted and you can hear loud (drunk) tourists going by on the streets until late hours. No hot water in the showers!!! And in order to take a shower you have to keep pressing a button by force. So you get a cold shower just pressing and waiting and praying for some hot water to arrive. Alas.

Hostel accommodation, good outdoor space to enjoy drinks, food. Inside community space for reading, meeting other guests. Offered a cup of tea on arrival.

A friendly, chill atmosphere for hanging out, studying, and meeting people from around the world.

Breakfast wasn't normally provided, but you could buy tea, coffee, and beer in the hostel. A couple of times, there were unexpected leftovers, so we had breakfast. The common area was fantastic with the outdoor garden and the tables for studying and hanging out. It was a very friendly atmosphere between the staff and the guests, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best hostel in Utrecht. I loved it.

The only thing I didn't like was the need to constantly keep pressing a button so the showers didn't turn off on you. I understand needing these though, in case someone came in drunk and just left the shower on, running up the bill.

Loved my stay here

I stayed there for a week due to an internship, and really enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly but not intrusive, the building is really cute (not some soulless modern hostel) and very clean. There are lockers and a kitchen, which allows to feel comfortable and secure. The hostel is really well placed in the city (right at the center, quite close to the station, in a quiet street in a lively neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants and cute shops). I loved the small garden and was happily suprised by the presence of an adorable cat.
