Peacful and relaxing

Tucked in behind the Waikato River, away from the hustle and bustle of Cambridge township, I was pleasantly surprised by Villa Shakespeare. Small and dosages of retreat, retreat, retreat. A wonderful space and creative space for writers and fine artists to relax and allow the imagination to bloom. A secret, a magical place for the weary.

Grand old villa with five independent bedroom options and configurations.

We booked three lovely, well appointed rooms in historic old Villa. On a busy road, but up a long drive, so quiet. Plenty of breakfast options. Clean and comfortable with nice touches. April was very friendly and approachable.

Might pay to check some expiry dates on fridge contents, but plenty of breakfast options, so no real issue.

Gorgeous stay.

It was a gorgeous stay. My son and I lov3d how clean and tidy everything was. It was peaceful and just gorgeous for us. We felt like we were at a retreat.

We didn't get to spend all our time there as we were in Camvridge for waka ama but it was so good to come back to a clean and peaceful safe place to stay.

Beautiful quiet peaceful place to stay. Lovely little breakfast room with seats and a table outside to enjoy the garden. Very clean, comfortable and our host was helpful and pleasant. Definitely keen to stay again.

Cambridge is a town we always enjoy. Our Christmas dinner at Clements Hotel was world class.

You have a lovely room for breakfast with very good facilities. Unfortunately on the first morning there was no milk, also the margarine was nearly finished as was the jams - the only disappointment of the stay.

Perfect spot for a short stay in Cambridge

Very quiet and very conveniently located to the town centre. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were clean and everything you needed - good shower pressure. There was even a wee cabin on the property that could be used to prepare light meals and breakfast.

Lovely room in Cambridge

The Villa Shakespeare is a lovely property. The room was a good size and very comfortable. We especially appreciated the room being left open for us as our plane arrived very late in Auckland. The owners were very easy to contact and we appreciated their assistance in making our check in much easier late at night. Though we literally were only passing through, Cambridge is a lovely little town. Great breakfast at Absolute Coffee House.

The bathroom set up didn't really work for us. There was really nowhere to put our toiletries and the water glass holder on either side of the sink just got in the way. That small space could have been better utilized with a shelf or something to put a few things on for a one night stay. It was dark when we arrived so it was a little difficult to find the property. Our GPS was trying to take us to the street behind. In the daylight I imagine it would have been much easier to see the sign.

This property was at the right place for what we were doing in the three days we were there. It was sunny and we enjoyed the outdoor setting and kitchen cottage with the breakfast things that were kindly provided. The host was helpful and kind.

We would have liked to stay longer and really enjoy the facilities and ambience.

The breakfast was really good. The location was excellent for us. We could walk to the home of our relatives.

The bathroom was terribly small and the wash basin was minute. I found it extremely awkward. I know you probably can't do anything about this as it is a heritage house.

Excellent location for walking into Leamington for great pub, food, supermarket. Also did the river walk from here. Beautiful building & gardens. Clean tidy room. Breakfast cabin was a nice touch.
