Giovanni was incredibly flexible and gracious in adapting to our arrival time; we had a 6 hour drive before arrival so could only give a window of time until about an hour before. He gave us instructions on how to drive up to the apartment to avoid ZTL and where to park to unload our bags, and the most affordable parking nearby. He met us and walked us through the apartment, keys and nearby activities and restaurants. You can't ask for a more charming or gracious host! The apartment is HUGE! Well appointed with charming character furnishings. Quiet and there is a lift in the building for luggage, though the apartment is only one floor up so except for arrival and departure, we used the stairs. Everything was clean and comfortable, and there was great water pressure. Early reviews mention the tub being broken, but it was repaired and everything working fine as of our trip. Early reviews also mention the energy saving light that is the light inside the main entrance of the building. While it is a little eerie the first time you arrive at night, it turns on with motion just after you step inside so just use your cellphone light if you are concerned. There is a lovely cafe right across the street, a charming bar a couple doors down and it is walking distance from the train, parking and all there is to see and do in old Bologna. We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this apartment for the right guests.

There are 2 bedrooms, but the second bedroom does not have an air conditioner. And like many beautiful old homes in Italy, the air conditioners are wall units which make it hard to really cool spaces with large windows and high ceilings like this one. We were comfortable in the main bedroom, but the second bedroom would have been uncomfortable to sleep in. So if you are traveling in June / July / August, be aware. There is a fan and it does cool off at night so maybe opening the window would have been better. We loved the apartment and host so much it's hard to share the next point. It is not a complaint, and has nothing to do with the apartment or the host, but pertains to the surrounding area so that guests can make the right choice for them. As others mention, this apartment is in the university district and as such there is A LOT of graffiti in the area. I was aware of this and live in one of the largest cities in the US, and I was still taken a little off guard initially. At night the streets nearby are largely empty; as a mid 50s couple, we never felt unsafe but depending on what you are used to, this may put some visitors on edge. We didn't see crime, but if I were a single woman, I wouldn't want to return to the apartment alone at night. The building is safe, but given how deserted the streets are and closeness to a popular nightclub (a couple blocks away) I wouldn't feel comfortable walking there alone at night. We were there in mid/late June so perhaps classes were out of session for the year and there may be more foot traffic other times of the year. However, if you live in a similar area, are traveling in groups or feel comfortable alone at night in almost any setting, it is a great place to stay!

Nice apartment. Great location close to the centre. Two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. The host was lovely and allowed us an early check in which was very helpful !

The air conditioning didn’t work well and the apartment was very hot. One of the bedrooms had only a fan which made the room very hot even with the window open. Broken window by the front door that was covered with plastic wrap.

The apartment was easy to find and easy to access. It is a secure safe building in a great area. Very quiet with no street noise. With good cafes and restaurants nearby. We stayed with two children 7 & 9. It was very spacious and the large bath was great to have.

It was constantly cold. Heaters were mostly off. Anytime we asked to the property owner to heat it up, he was saying that the max he can do 19C degree. He was activating the heaters but then i guess he was deactivating when we left the house because when we got back to home, heaters were always off. At night they were also off i guess because when we woke up in the morning, the house were always freezing and heater were off until we asked to the owner. we had to sleep with our clothes and now we are sick:(
