Beautiful home and hosts for a short stay to visit Amboise and the Chateaus of the Loire.

Thibaut was extremely friendly and very informative about the local area. The B&B is just a 10 minute walk into the heart of the Ancient centre of Amboise. The B&B itself has had a colourful past, from the WWII and is just a few inutes from Château of Clos Lucé, the one time home of Leonardo De Vinci (who is buried in the nearby Château d'Amboise).

The bed had a firm support down the middle. I truly minor niggle.

The location was perfect. Liked the grand approach to the apartment. The host was very friendly and welcoming. Shared a lot of information which was helpful for our sight seeing. His pride for his city and country was inspiring. The pet dog, snook, was great. We warmed up to him really quickly.

The rooms were very tiny, smaller than what appears in the photos, access to the rooms was a steep staircase outside the house, which made it difficult to climb with luggage and for the elderly person with us. The breakfast missed any form of protein. The kitchen was closed on 1 of nights where we needed access to some plates and cutlery

Estate is as if you were in the French countryside eventhough you are in town. Rooms are up an outside staircase. There is a small common room for the guests upstairs. Our room was what we expected for the price and very comfortable. There is an air conditioner. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. The host is charming and full of advice and stories of history. We loved the common table we shared with the other guests. The Breakfast had so many options to choose from…. Fresh bread and croissants!

A lovely stay in Amboise and surroundings, made all the better by a generous and friendly host

The welcome we had from our host was exceptional as was his knowledge of the area and its history. He was happy to pass on this knowledge which certainly helped us plan our stay and excursions to get the best effect. The breakfast was stunning with fresh breads and pastries, cheeses, teas and excellent coffee - a great spread and accompanied by good conversation and tips from the host and happy to provide attention to the very friendly dog "snook" The large gardens and space were appreciated as well as the pool, which provided a refreshing break after a day out We were traveling with bikes, so it was easy to get in and out of town very quickly

The room was on the small size, but worked for us.

Wonderful hosts in charming Loire Valley town

It was so relaxing, quiet and comfortable. The hosts, Thibaut and his dog Snook were both charming and welcomed us into their home. We enjoyed lively conversation with other guests over the delicious breakfast that was provided every morning. Highly recommended.

Excellent host, wonderful location, endless number of places to visit from it!

First of all - the wonderful host! We've got geo, history, wine, French food and other lessons together with the very comfortable stay! We stayed only 2 nights at the end of April, we walked everywhere we wanted in Amboise by foot from the place. Breakfast, the history of the place itself, the surrounding area - all very inviting.

2 nights stay isn't enough, 3 nights would be much better. If anything, the stairs to the rooms on the second floor wouldn't work for all people, but worked for us all right.

Great location to centre of Amboise, opposite Clos De Luce museum and many other local attractions to explore. Thibaut, our host, was friendly and welcoming and ensured our stay was a great one. Perfect long-weekend destination and/or stop-off for those on route from the UK to South of France (or vice versa!)

Beautiful, convenient and a joy to come back to every day.

The land that this property sits on and the building is beautiful. The host is warm, friendly and passionate about the home and Loire Valley and generous with his knowledge and suggestions of places to see. Breakfast is of high quality ingredients and generous. The pool is clean and a perfect temperature. We swam everyday. We walked into town. It is a lovely location. I would not hesitate in recommending this accommodation.

If I were to be picky I would say that there is not much space left after 2 pieces of luggage. But honestly it is otherwise perfect and a lovely oasis.

Beautiful B&B with a great host

Thibaut was a great host. He is very proud of his B&B and takes good care of his guests. Thibaut gave us great information about places to visit and eat. We even got a history lesson on some the Loire castles or fun facts about the Clos Lucé that we could not find elsewhere. We were even treated to a variety of homemade jams at breakfast!

cool place, Thibeau is a fun host with great suggestions (restaurant recommendations in particular were SPOT on). The home is in an excellent location and an easy quick walk into central Amboise for shopping, food etc. Welcome wine with the other guests, breakfast and Snook the dog were definitely highlights!

bed comfort and overall cleanliness of the room were just ok but it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the stay :)

Really was perfect for our stay

Our hosts, Thibaut and his dog Snook, were very helpful (not so much Snook who just wanted to play) and made us feel at home. The location is very good with easy access to the old town and river front.

Best stay ever!

It was the best stay I ever had in my life! I even felt a bit down after leaving. Le clos de la commanderie has all the amenities that you could want and more (comfy room,great breakfast, swimming pool, board games, books and a wondeful garden with even an enigma to resolve!). But what made our stay exceptional was our host, Thibaut. I have never seen someone so enthousiatic and passionate about history and music. We got to listen to many curious stories that really made our visits at the castles better. He made us fell like at home and gave us excellent recommandations about everything (restaurants, cycling paths...). Can't recommend enough!

Nothing bad to say, it was perfect. My only regret was to change hotel along the Loire according to the castles we were visiting and not stay at the clos de la commanderie for our full trip as everything is so close from each other with the train.

Freindly host who gave lots of information and advice on where to visit and the best restaurants. A wide choice of cereals, breads,home made conserves and pastries. The host enabled all the quests at the breakfast table to share their experiences and created a warm freindly experience. A short walk to the centre of town.

We loved our stay here. It is in a perfect location for visiting Le Val de la Loire. We were able to walk into Amboise in about 20 minutes and to Le Château du Clos Lucé in 10 minutes. It was fascinating listening to Thilbault talking about the history of his lovely house. Breakfast was superb.
