This Cave experience is unique. I loved the concept of it all, beautifully designed and what a great swimming pool
The bedroom is delightful with an en-suite bathroom.

Such an interesting space. Really quirky really amazing. So special, we love the cat! Having a beautiful Spa bath as part of the suite was a real treat. I own private space for drinks in the evening outside your room in the garden was lovely. Some lovely local wines to buy were on offer.
The owner told us that the pool was 28° C. It wasn’t. Other than that, it was Perfect.
Sadly, they don’t do evening meals, so you have to plan accordingly .

Unique cave experience. Nice quiet location but very close to the town centre attractions and restaurants. Cave swimming pool was great. Free parking opposite.
Nothing really.

This is not a regular hotel. It's an experience. And a fantastic experience at that. The idea of sleeping in a very old cave with little ventilation, no natural light and high humidity might not sound appealing to all but we definitely enjoyed it. Personally I would not stay for more than one night but the property is well worth a visit.
The room while not too bright is nicely decorated and pleasant to be in. The only complaint about the room is the wall between the room and the toilet which is not complete. Wall only goes until like 2 meteres and then there's a massive gap all the way to the high ceiling. You really need the toilet to be completely separate from the rest of the room which this was not. My wife and I have been married for several years but we still like our privacy and a sound/smell barrier is definitely needed if you know what I mean.
Most of the staff were lovely. The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and we felt welcome throughout the stay.
The breakfast was excellent we just wished we had our own table rather than sharing with others. Not a dealbreaker but we like our privacy.
Now our favourite thing about this property was the pool that never closes. So unlike virtually all hotels in the world, you can have a swim at any time of the day and night. Which we did, at midnight. While having a bottle of wine. It was incredible :)
We arrived about an hour before the designated checkin time and just wanted to use the bathroom urgently after a few hours of driving but the man who was there at the time (different person to the main reception gentleman) was very rude to us and basically kicked us out and told us to come back after the check in time. Bizarre. That man should not be talking to guests. Very angry person.

The experience of staying in a cave was unique and interesting. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. The pool was really cool to sit by, although we did not swim. We slept very well in the beds and were surprised at how late it was when we got up because the room was pitch dark. It was a fun experience to visit this hotel.
There was a chlorine smell from the pool in the front area. I found it a little hard to breathe in the room, and the manager offered to put in a dehumidifier. This solved my problem completely and I slept well. It was a fun experience to stay there, all in all.

Room was a delight. The bed was magical. A lovely breakfast was brought to our room on a trolley and left outside the door at an agreed time. Spa bath was such a treat.
Towels and slippers could have been provided in the pool area as there was no changing facilities. This would prevent dripping water on the tiles in the corridor and potential slipping. We used our bath towels from our room which we took to the pool area but it meant they were wet with chlorine water for our next bath.

The special experience of sleeping in the caves + pool inside the caves.
Humidity is extremely high inside the cave, but a dehumidifier is put a our disposal.
In the smaller bedrooms there are no windows.

Good location
Breakfast plentiful
Staff were quite indifferent to us - not especially welcoming.
Overhead was not functioning and kept spraying everywhere.
Being a cave, the room felt damp . Should have kept suitcase shut- top layers in suitcase clothing felt damp in the morning .

Location was good.
We had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. We had to leave after 1 night. The beds were very damp, our friend couldn’t sleep in her room because of the damp, and our clothes were damp the next morning. I could go into detail about the thermos breakfast coffee and warm yoghurt. And the attitude when we reported the damp issues the next morning, e.g. the reply re the dehumidifier not having been on since we arrived, gave us no satisfaction. We felt there was no attempt made to address our valid concerns. This is the first time I’ve ever left a property I booked - we were so sad and unhappy with the whole experience which we had been looking forward to so much for months. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend booking this property.

It was fine but everything was a bit run down but the host was very friendly and the pool though above ground was refreshing
The garden could have been better kept , it looked like they needed a lot of maintenance

We lovedstaying in the private troglodyte cave - beautiful and clean, well appointed (awesome projector screen TV on to the cave wall!), comfy bed and great bathroom. Everything we needed for a romantic getaway - parking available close to the hotel, on the street just out front (great when driving from Paris, which I would recommend). The town of Amboise is a short walk (10 mins) away - and right next door is the most amazing winery (Caves Ambacia) which is perfect for dinner and afternoon drinks. The host at the hotel was incredibly gracious and made a delightful breakfast each morning! I can nit recommend highly enough, if you are a couple exploring the loire valley - this is the perfect place to stay! We stayed 2 nights - wish we had more!
It was all fantastic - no dislikes

Novel concept( appreciated being able to see the interior of a cave system and the work it took to turn it into a hotel.
Extremely helpful hosts, nice breakfast.
Had an interior windowless room- it was quite cold and humid with particles natural to a cave- all surfaces were moist (bedding, floors)
Recommend a room with outside air connection (window-French doors)

Experience to stay and sleep inside a cave. Nice pool located in the cave. Breakfast served next to this pool creates a different atmosphere.
Outside area is badly maintained and not inviting to enjoy. Location of property is not convenient, with parking on the street and hauling luggage to your room.

We enjoyed our new and unique cave hotel experience. The location was convenient to many chateaus and walkable to town; breakfast was standard/satisfactory; the pool looked lovely, although we didn't use it; the room comfort was good (no windows and cave darkness is great for sleeping, and we expected the humidity). The common areas were comfortable and nicely decorated.
Divider walls between rooms within the cave did not seem very soundproof--but of course this is due to the unique building within a cave.

Cracking little find on Booking.com. Little bit of a walk into town for a meal on the night but very safe area. Need to stay to experience the full affect on the facilities. Highly recommend.

pool was cold needed a bit more heating also maybe a cooked element to breakfast

Staying in a troglodyte room was quite an interesting & enjoyable experience. The location is good for walking into town, along the riverside, to restaurants. Breakfast was a pleasant but basic continental with each person getting there own stainless steel flask. The owner was very helpful & friendly.
Soundproofing & humidity could be improved.

Love the Hibiscus Suite! Living in a cave dwelling is very cool. The suite is very spacious, really enjoyed the hot tub and having our own arched doorway to the courtyard was great. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and substantial. The owner and his son went above and beyond in booking taxis for us when our phones did not get service in Amboise. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in every way. Thank you!

The best nights' sleep of my whole holiday. Dark and silent and so cool when the days were humid and over 30°.
Try this for a coupke of nights for a really different experience.
We were made very welcome and we loved the calm when the town is so bustling.
The inside pool is lovely too.
Located close enough to town to walk and with plenty of free parking on the street
Possibly somewhere to dry swimming gear as the cool in the cave didn't allow mine to dry. We could have turned up the heater though.

The overall setup is charming and quirky, exactly like the pictures suggest.
The staff were great. Very friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast was lovely.
The room was just too damp. We appreciated we were staying in a cave but could tell when air conditioning/circulation was on as the rooms became bearable.
We also would have preferred the bathroom area (toilet in particular) to have been isolated from bed area.

Interesting and unique experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
