Apartment and Room Soul of Dalmatia

Tanja was amazing as a host -- giving us tips and recommendations, and super nice. She was thoughtful and helpful with our luggage too. The apartment was compact but adequate. The location was superb. It was quiet for being right in the Old Town and on a busy street -- there is some street noise. It's excellent value for money.

It was quite compact for two adults and a child but totally fine for a short stay. There is some street noise. The apartment was very clean and well-kept. Overall it was an excellent deal.

The location is AMAZING. It is in the old town, but still close to all the boat excursions and shops just outside the old walls. Tanya gave us excellent suggestions on where to go in Zadar and how to spend our time here. The was an orchestra outside the bedroom window on our last night, loved it.

I messaged the accommodation through booking.com a few days before my arrival to let the hosts know of my eta. I also tried calling the number the hosts left on booking.com before my arrival. I didn’t hear from them. When I got to the accommodation, there was a second phone number on the wall. I called that number and Tanya told me I should’ve called 20 mins ago. The only sink in the apartment is right next to the toilet. So if you want to wash your dishes or fruit / vegetables, you have to wash them next to the toilet. I recommend this place for short stays where you go out to eat for every meal. We also had some terribly noisy guests arrive in the middle of the night. They had the lights on outside our apartment and yelled “that’s where the Australian’s are staying” at 2am on the night they arrived

This property is run by a wonderful woman and her daughter. They were very nice people, who were very thoughtful and obliging.

Location.

I want to start by saying that Tanja was amazing; she welcomed us warmly and provided a lot of useful information upon our arrival. She was kind, easy to talk to, and very communicative.

However, I feel I need to highlight that the apartment did not meet the expectations I had based on the high overall rating from other guests. While the location was incredible, there are some trade-offs that must be mentioned: the noise from outside was unbelievable at night, compounded by the 24/7 beeping sound of the traffic lights from a nearby crossing. Furthermore, the apartment was not very clean. There was a lot of dust underneath a table when we moved it to make more space, and we also found dirty socks and an empty wine bottle in a corner of the main bedroom. Finally, the apartment lacked hangers, making it difficult to dry our wet towels or hang up our clothes.
