Location is really good, 5 mins to the pub, Bowness shops are just at the bottom of the hill, you can walk or drive up to Windermere, and walk to Biskey Howe, and a nice network of walks. Well equipped cottage, so don't bring loads of stuff with you, you probably won't need it. Lovely garden, saw loads of birds. Really relaxing and lovely and warm with the log fire .
Be careful when you get there, there's 2 Craig walks and if you aren't concentrating, you end up on a single track road, which brings you to the back of the cottage which is wrong, and you get a bit panicky trying to get out of it.

This lovely cottage had everything we needed. It’s in a perfect location right in the heart of Bowness but so quiet as it’s tucked away from the main roads.
We loved our stay but with it being a self catering cottage i think it maybe needs small recycling containers instead of everything going in one bin or at least instructions on where to put your waste.

A quaint cottage In a great location. Only a short walk to the town centre and all the amenities.A suprise bottle of prosecco was a nice thought.
The cottage was in a quiet peaceful location & was spotlessly clean & warm.
We had no hot water the first night as the pressure had dropped & the thermostat was set too low. This was remedied in the morning by the owners friend.(neighbour)Although the bath had to be filled slowly.
The biggest complaint was the big dip in the mattress which appeared worn & resulted in me being unable to sleep. Because the other bed was a 3/4 bed I couldnt sleep in that so I had a bad back & stiff neck the following day.
I noticed that this issue had been highlighted in the review posted in August 2022 .
The review suggested putting pillows under the dip which I tried & it helped. This ongoing issue prevented me rating the cottage as good .
In case the owner hadnt seen the review I left the pillows in situ & also left a note on the kitchen table about the bed so no other holiday makers suffer from the bed.

cottage was great location and we had parking. very cute inside and lovely touch to have prosecco waiting!
garden fence could have been a bit better enclosed for dog as felt could not let him roam alone in garden - but not huge issue

The hosts were both very friendly and extremely helpful at all times throughout the stay. We were advised of the key box code a day before our visit. Once we arrived I made the mistake of parking in the wrong space (oops!) but the hosts let me know and I changed this quickly. The cottage really is a beautiful little throwback in time and has authentic furniture which takes you back in time, the Grandfather clock in the kitchen adds real nostalgia to times gone way by now and we loved it. Overall we loved our stay here, the cottage was so cosy and comfortable with an excellent little garden and 2 minutes from the main street. Biskey Howe viewpoint was stunning in the morning and great for walking the dog. Lake Windermere was beautiful and the pubs are pretty much all dog friendly. We are very grateful to the hosts for allowing us to stay in this lovely little cottage.
Although there was a fire I struggled to locate the logs initially and when I was made aware of the change of parking space that's when I learned the logs for the fire were kept beside the space. Unfortunately a lot of the medium sized logs didn't fit in the burner and I couldn't find either an axe or saw to cut them to an appropriate size (I didn't ask the hosts if these were there I simply went out and purchased kindling bags from the nearby high street stores). The first night the heating went off shortly after we went to bed and both myself and my wife were absolutely freezing and spent an uncomfortable night, waking up a number of times. We made the hosts aware and they informed us heating was on a timer and they rectified it that day and thereafter the house was warm and comfortable at all times. The iron provided leaked quite badly and had some burning to the plate from previous use,but it wasn't that much of an issue and we managed with it. One more thing I would recommend (and I'm nitpicking here) I like a good full English breakfast and the pan provided was not the best for fry ups as it smoked heavily and I had to open the barn door each morning to allow the smoke to escape. This led to the food being slightly blackened as well even cooked slower over a low heat. (I really am nitpicking I know but I like my breakfast).

I was worried about previous reviews regarding collecting the keys but it was very simple.
I had a contact number for the owner once the property was booked and the week I was travelling I contacted the owner and got the key code for key box outside the front door.
The cottage was perfect.
Typical Lakeland cottage, totally the correct name “Rustic cottage”
I loved the quirkiness, the grandfather clock, the garden was great, the fireplace.
A bottle of fizz on arrival is a lovely touch and we met a neighbour a few doors down who was very helpful with parking.
The location is 10/10. You are so central but when you come home on a night and sit in the enclosed garden, it is so peaceful. You could of been in the middle of nowhere.
It’s small and the second bedroom was small for my two children especially with no wardrobes BUT that would not stop me staying here again. When we go to the lakes, we explore and are out most of the day anyway.
The only thing I would complain about was the double bed in the main bedroom.
My husband slept on the left hand side on the first night and was in a massive dip. He woke up with a stiff neck and bad back the next day.
I changed sides with him and had to put a pillow under the mattress as I was on a massive dip and nearly falling out of the bed.
The mattress/ bed frame must be broken. It was pretty bad.

Truly a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location only a few minutes walk into the centre of Bowness. Great off road parking, fantastic facilities in the cottage, the garden was a beautiful, comfortable beds, wood burning fire, lovely and clean.
The dog treats left for our family dog was a real appreciated by our Labrador, as well as our wine, thank you so much.
Had a wonderful vacation in a perfect and beautiful property in the best place in the world.
Will definitely be returning in the future.

The cottage is in a great location just a short walk down a small hill to the town centre. Loads of places to eat & drink & most places are dog friendly. Cottage was warm, comfortable & cosy with a lovely enclosed garden, ideal for our small dog to explore! Very Rustic as in the name A lovely bottle of Prosecco & dog treats when we arrived! We have already booked for a return stay!!

Loved the enclosed garden for our dog - although h]e did manage to find his way into next door's garden through the far right hand corner
I don't think the radiator in the kitchen was working and also couldnt manage to work the TV in the main bedroom

Had no contact from owners or any one as regards how to enter the property , as in key code . Luckily we had kept a code from 3 years ago which we tried and fortunately it worked
No instruction where to park , again we remembered
No boiler to heat the house , cool at night
No instructions how to use log burner
On the whole poor communication
