Great weekend away
Lovely property although a bit dated and old in places. It needs a good revamp and lick of paint.

We did self catering
A bit on the cold side in the house. Did have a small electric heater which didn't put out to much heat and a main fire place in front room which we did get started but still not much heat. They did have blankets to wrap up in, which was lovely

Run down / not maintained & potentially dangerous boiler
Great location with parking for two cars (slanted). Spacious.
We arrived on a Friday around 6pm and there were boxes of painting & decorating equipment all over the kitchen / dining table & dirty footprints all over the floor. The shower was so blocked it leaked everywhere. We called the emergency line for the above and in fairness they did come to the property quickly and try sort the issues (and arranged for cleaners / plumber to come the next day. Glasses in the cupboard were dirty & we had been given less than half a roll of toilet paper in each of the two bathrooms (for a booking of 6 people), these are not huge issues, but they do highlight a further lack of care / cleanliness in the property.
Unfortunately the issues didn’t stop there - at 2am on Saturday morning, I was woken up by the loudest banging / scratching / popping noises… I thought we were being broken into. As I became more awake I realised it was echoing through the pipe coming down the single bedroom wall. I got out of bed to try work out what was going on & could hear it 10 x louder as I got on the hallway and went upstairs to the third floor. In the main bathroom there is a cupboard and it was coming from there - it was the boiler making this noise. It genuinely sounded like it was going to explode. I turned the thermostat right down (not ideal when it’s 0 degrees outside, but it stopped the boiler noises), but I could not get back to sleep so spent the rest of our weekend away exhausted. I messaged the on call phone number and never even got an acknowledgment of this issue & the following day the boiler was still making these loud crashing / banging noises. We decided to deal with the noise through the day & have the heating on (and didn’t use that bathroom whilst it was on in case of a serious boiler malfunction) & turn the heating off overnight, again not ideal during such a cold winter.

A good spot to explore the lakes, and enjoy the convenience of being in a town.
Location was spot on - ideal for exploring the area, perfect for walking into town for food and drinks. The house had good sized bedrooms, and was generally comfy. Given the location, it didnt seem bad value.
It wasnt 'luxury' property as described - decor needs refreshed, peeling wallpaper and damp stains in the upstairs bedroom, broken blinds, and a few other issues. Also needs a deep clean. Bike store doesnt have a key for the back gate, so bikes need brought in through the house.

The rooms are very spacious. Beds are comfortable. Location is good.
The heating stopped at about ten and we were not told about where we could find the timer. We were left worrying about being cold during the holiday until we found the timer.
