Location was very good. Hot shower was amazing. Television and refrigerator in excellent condition.

We were staying in the lower ground apartment. The windows were locked for security reasons hence the apartment was dark not like as bright and well-lit as portrait in the photos. Sadly we encountered cockroaches and ants every night during our 5 nights stay. The furniture in apartment was worn out and needs to be replaced. The 2nd toilet seat was broken and also needs to be replaced.

Great Location, in the heart of Santa Teresa

The host, was an excellent host. He gave us some recommendations of what places to visit around the area. Many bars, local restaurants, street art and more things that you would love. I would leave some photos showing the things that are near this wonderful place. He was also so very helpful when it came to the date of check out.

Wifi didn't work, we did had trouble trying to connect to it. But other than that everything was excellent

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

- Floor, kitchen, bedding, towels appeared clean. - Mattresses were okay. - Shower has hot water. - Aircon worked but not very well.

DO NOT STAY HERE! You might have an okay experience if you're here a few days and catch a lucky period with the local community. The management do not care at all about you and you have no power to do anything about it. Read Below. Location: we got drawn to this place as you can see sugar loaf mountain... But once you've seen it, you don't need to see it again, and you can see it from anywhere in Rio. This place is up a huge hill, it's close to a few things but once you have done them you're basically well away from anything else. It is not safe at night here also, you absolutely need to get taxis home before dark. Bathroom: Mould all over the grout, walls and ceiling, when showering drain fly larvae come out of the unsealed tile edges. Windows are loose, when ever there is wind they rattle. Main light in bedroom didn't work. Curtains/net curtains are tatty and half hanging off. Dirty walls and skirtings. Power socket not secure. Sofa is ripped in creased areas, not comfy to sit on. Front door lock screws were not doing their job, we did not feel safe considering the area and previous reviews stating unsafe conditions. The biggest problem was NOISE (Aircon units, gunshots, explosions, parties, slamming doors etc) and how the management team/owner dealt with it all. (Videos on Google review). After two days we made a complaint to Fred about the insane noise the aircons of the apartment upstairs made (previous reviews state the same). They vibrate the entire ceiling and wall, they also make a hell of a sound, we didn't sleep for two nights before making the report. Fred initially was polite, spoke to upstairs about running the aircons all night (it was not hot or cold, there was no immediate need for them to be on). The noise continued, we again asked to be moved or refunded as we couldn't sleep. We were waiting longer and longer for replies from Fred.

Room with a view

I love the location the View is Spectacular. The area is safe easy to public transportation. Oh the Yellow Train. The safety of the building and surroundings lots of Restaurants and Bars

Amazing view

The apartment has a lot of light and an amazing view.

There are some things that need to be fixed or replaced. The toilet seat was attached with plastic straps, and the coffee machine was not working properly as well. The internet was also choppy and sometimes the signal would disappear for a while.

ABSOLUTE HORROR. UNCLEAN, UNFRIENDLY, UNSAFE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

135 degree views of the Sugarloaf and Rio, but that’s it. If you are visiting, you are not staying inside the whole day anyway, there really is no point to book a place just for its views.

Everything else. First of all the management is extremely unfriendly and this is just a money grab for them. Extra charge for every little thing that should have been included in the price anyway that is also not upfront, absolutely no sense of hospitality or integrity whatsoever. It’s like flying with low cost airline and then having to pay extra for a seat, baggage, food etc except this property does not tell you all these charges AFTER you have booked and cannot cancel. Check in and check out are extremely intrusive, you have to show up at a certain exact time and there are so many cleaning requirements you need to follow like you are an actual long term tenant. And then they charge you an extra cleaning fee anyway! This experience solidified for me that no place however seemingly fancy is ever worth being subject to the harassment of these greedy landlords (not hosts!) especially when you are travelling. Secondly the place looks like a pirated version of the photos when you actually get in there. The place is old, no where near the high specs impression you get from the photos. Furniture are used/ unkept, utensils dirty, surfaces dusty and the most disgusting part is the bathroom. There is so much mould, grout and water stain everywhere. The toilet seat is so poorly fitted with zip ties (!!!) that you end up sitting on the actual bowl even when you have the seat down. Considering the bowl was never cleaned it is really disturbing and I ended up spending my holiday cleaning for this apartment. The water tap is so lose it looks like it can break down at any time - something that I am sure the property manager will jump at the first chance at charging you extra. The bed is also unclean - all the bedding and towels’ cotton have shedded because they are very poor quality, very thin and looks like they have been used for 15 years. You can’t really clean them anymore but could only mask the scent with some perfume.

Breathtaking views. Disappointing property & host.

The view is the biggest asset of this property. No one can complaint about it as the Sugar Loaf is really there all the time looking at you. We could even see it from bed. That was amazing.

The experience was disappointing from so many angles. First, it's important to note that we stayed 15 nights at the apartment so this feedback is not based on a single-night stay. Here's the list of the aspects that would make me think twice about rebooking this property: 1. The AC: water leakage (condensation) caused inconvenience during our stay. Host's delayed response led to a week-long issue unresolved, impacting our experience negatively. 2. The cleanliness: upon arrival, observed uncleanliness including hair, stains, and odors, addressed upon request but persisted with subsequent issues like dirt, cockroaches, and flies, affecting comfort and hygiene. 3. Painting & Renovations needed: the reality the apartment showed signs of excessive usage and lack of maintenance when it comes to painting and change of some appliances. 4. Door safety: it was incredible to find that the main door or the apartment had a very loose handle and a very small key. The apartment also did not have any safe which made us fear for the safety of our belongings. 5. The staff: there's no onsite front desk, just the cleaning team who is at the property daily from 09am to 6pm. Apart from one of the workers (called Rian) the rest of the team had an unhelpful approach to our frustration and requests. 4. The host: property communication via "anonymous" WhatsApp group lacks accountability, leading to delayed or ignored responses to inquiries and complaints, compounded by a dismissive and condescending communication style.

The building had no water for 3 days and we were promised every day that the water truck would come to fill the tank. I also had to change apartment because the AC was not working.

there were some stuff in the fridge after previous guestes, only one key for 4 people, you couldn’t close the window properly so at night we could hear all sounds from the outside

Amazing view in a great space

Incredible view, well equipped apartment. Comfortable bed, air con worked well and was much needed! Was helpful that we were able to check in early (although at an extra cost). The area felt pretty safe during the day time and there are some lovely bars/restaurants nearby (Bonde Boca and Bar Armazém São Thiago) being a couple of them!

Just worth being aware that transport around Santa Teresa can be pretty tricky with Ubers etc. We ended up waiting for a while on some occasions and (we were told) Ubers don’t always like to come up as the roads are very steep and narrow.

The apartment was well-maintained and the amenities were as expected

The check-in process didn't go smoothly at all. We had an extra person joining in for which we had emailed the property and sent all identification documents before the day of arrival. Yet, they only checked it on the spot and denied us our original booking. It was a lot of hassle to finally get to our room. The staff was a bit rude and unhelpful.

The place has plenty of space for 2 people and everything seemed cleaned and organized. The kitchen has good equipment as well. The location is good for someone interested in the city center tourist spots or a cheaper price than Copacabana.

The property looks much more modern in pictures than in reality. Paying attention to details you will find some humidity spots in the bathroom. Checkin process is terrible, I reserved the 8-9 PM time (as they dont have front desk) and got in because someone else staying in the property opened the door as they are not very fast responding the WA. When booking this property do consider it is located in a hill and eventually you will have to climb 10-15 mins from the closest subway station. The zone is safe in general but you should have your own precautions at night. They will charge you a cleaning fee as an additional but you have to take out the garbage yourself. Internet works but had problems with streaming content. We payed extra 60 BRL for baggage storage but the staff was making faces when we said we would pick the bags at 8PM, not friendly at all despite the fact we were paying for the service.

Incredible views of Rio and the Sugar Loaf. Amazing terrace to enjoy your morning coffee or a beverage or two in the afternoon. Modern apartment with all required facilities. Micos (Monkey) will pay a visit every so often if you leave banana outside, my family loved it. All staff are very helpful and polite.

The neighborhood is great. Santa Teresa has a colonial small-town feel removed from the bustle of Rio. The apt. is just barely close enough to walk up from the metro - 10 minutes, not too steep, might not want to do at night. You can also take a taxi, uber, or antique tram. There are many little bars and restaurants in Sta Teresa, or you can walk down to Lapa (Rio's party district) or Gloria. The apartment is well laid out for a Rio studio. Appliances are super simple but they work and are easy to operate.

The bathroom desperately needs hooks for hanging things! The private balcony is to the little street in front. The shared balcony with the incredible water views is several floors down. I might spring for the more expensive apartment with a private balcony facing the water if I did this again. Also, there were a couple billing issues that the management was quick to fix, but check your bills.
