Perfect hotel in a perfect location with good parking and the best bed ever.

The hotel is full of character and a lovely little gem. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and I can honestly say, this was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in.

Perfectly nice hotel BUT the constant emails very annoying

Great location and overall very nice BUT.....

I wouldn't stay again purely because they send emails constantly asking for details , giving info etc, 16 emails for a 1 night stay , really?

Great location quirky hotel. Nice big bath. Plenty hot water. Pleased to have two electric heaters as no radiators. All clean and tidy. Comfortable bed. Soft fluffy towels. Quiet. Breakfast very good. Good variation and well presented.

No biscuits with tea and coffee making stuff. No bottled water. Towel rail cold in evening bathroom very cold..Towel rail on in the morning but bathroom and floor very cold as tiled . Couldn't get much shower gel from dispenser only a very small amount.

Cosy, welcoming and good value for money. Great facilities, the option to use the pub and restaurant was nice. Great location perfect for shopping in the town centre. Overall satisfied and would stay again!

The breakfast was standard and cooked well. A better choice of hot drinks would be good. The location was great for us - everything in walking distance. There are 2 reasons why I have rated this experience lower than I should have liked: 1. Nobody explained to us that it was a pay-as-you-go arrangement. Had they done so, an embarrassing (for me) situation would have been avoided. The other reason was far more irksome and concerned the hotel’s owners - Marston’s. I received a number of aggressively demanding communications from them regarding check-in and check-out. In addition, there was a problem with the check-in link, so I asked the hotel if it was ok to check in on arrival - which it was. I checked out in person as well. I simply ignored all the emails from Marstons in the end. Regarding this issue, the hotel was pleasant and helpful. Overall the stay was decent and I would be happy to stay there again.

It was good to have a clean, friendly place to stay so near to the centre of the city.

The welcome on arrival. The decor and facilities in the bed and bathroom The bedding and pillows very comfortable.. Good food in the evening when a grandson joined us for supper. Good value for money and we would come again if indicated.

Parking was expensive and we paid the lower rate thru the inn. Getting locked in our room when the door wouldn't open was of some concern.l

A very shoddy experience

Car parking, Glad we had booked only the 1 night.

Staff were very inattentive and not welcoming. Upgraded our room, and still not what we expected. Hot water tap in sink was loose unusable. Bedside light bulb broken. Window couldn't be closed leaving a draught. Bath not suitable for shower for older person, sides to deep. No hand holds in shower. Toilet flush wouldn't stop as it should. Bathroom door was very hard to close as didn't fit properly. Toast machine didn't work, staff couldn't care. Breakfast mediocre, fried eggs came later, not with breakfast, again lack of care of staff . All in all glad to leave this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay but a couple of things need addressing! It’s not a cheap place to stay.

Location was great. Very central. Breakfast was good Reception staff were great especially the young lady that was on duty when we arrived.

Dinner was disappointing. I asked for rare steak & it wasn’t at all! Also, no sauce with it. I had to ask & only 2 choices. No mustard in the hotel at all. ( I like a bit of mustard with steak) The evening staff didn’t seem interested at all. Got the impression they weren’t really enjoying their job. In my opinion they need extra training. Bar staff in the pub were great. So overall it was just in the dining room.
