A lovely hotel, with tasteful decor. A lovely area for sitting in at the bar, and a very nice dining area. The staff are very approachable , friendly and helpful.
The room size, we were booked into a cozy room, it was a bit on the cool side, although the bathroom was warm!

Staff at the front desk were nice..
Even the chamber maid was nice.
Beautiful hotel and well appointed.
The staff at the breakfast rude.
After I finished breakfast chased me for the money.
They had my room number could have charged my room.
Had to go back to my room for my cards to pay. for a very over priced breakfast(24) with burnt eggs, ,dry bacon and a wrinkly sausage.

The staff were exceptional and made the stay special. The room was comfortable and clean and although a little on the chilly side when we arrived very quickly warmed with the exceptional air conditioning. The team in the restaurant were exceptional and the food amazing.

This was a fantastic property, well situated within easy reach of the city , modern decor and facilities but also very comfortable,
the spa facilities are amazing I had a pedicure and my sister a glow facial beautiful temple spa products used very relaxing and felt well looked after and truly pampered
Toby on reception was amazing, before we arrived and extremely welcoming when we arrived, Toby is very accomplished and understood the needs of his clients with great attention to detail and ensured our stay ran smoothly
the bistro service was impeccable especially Lydia W who looked after us so well at breakfast it was a pleasure to see her the 3 mornings of our stay, nothing was too much trouble and she is a lovely person to chat with as well, extremely personable and an asset to the bistro team at Hotel du Vin for sure
I would highly recommend a stay at this property
Excellent service

Staff were brilliant, room was stylish and very quiet.
Car parking was by reservation which was not stated on the booking site so had to leave the car nearby in a n offside carpark at an additional 15 pounds.

Room clean and comfortable
No parking - it would have been useful to know this in advance

Lovely property, and nice to have the use of the heated pool. Breakfast was very nice and the room was lovely.
Unfortunately as I work in facilities, I tend to see the problems in hotels. Cleaning chemicals left out on the side as the rooms were being cleaned, trip hazard in the restaurant, poor finishes in the room, mouldy grout in the bath. I feel this is all attention to detail that should be picked up for the price of the stay.

Comfortable bed, good room size.
Great bar and reception staff.
Small towels, slightly dated bathroom and toilet. Not enough parking for guests and notification about that wasn’t made clear in advance.

Fantastic transformation of a former eye infirmary- needs to be seen to be believed! Great location for exploring the historic city of Exeter. Brilliant onsite spa and unique swimming pool, seated hydra pool inside leads to outdoor shallow pool (quite small so try to use when its quiet).
Some staff are lovely, some are a bit stuck up which is the same with other guests at this type of hotel. Some receptionists need to be taught the importance of acknowledging guests even if they are on the reception phone - basic customer service shouldnt be an issue at high end places like this.
The parking charge of 20 squid is very high considering what you already pay to stay & the hotel needs to invest in buying more parking spaces nearby (or offering a discount at local car parks).

We loved the feel of the hotel itself, calm & cosy
The pool not being warm enough for the time of year, it could really do with being heated up a few more degrees

Great location very comfortable room
The shower thermostat had a kind of its own and small amount of mould to the mastic sealant but minor issues, swimming pool was freezing

Room 008 had high ceilings, was nicely arranged, the bathroom was large and the lighting was good.
The air conditioning did not respond. We were cold! If the other aspects of the stay had not been so good I'd have made a formal complaint. In retrospect, I wish we had.

I had stayed in that exact room several times before - I never request it, just allocated it - and knew what to expect. Everything was to standard, hospitality tray good and bathroom in good condition.
I ate out for dinner, but had breakfast in the hotel which was EXCEPTIONAL both in terms of environment, choice of food, standard of service and speed of service.
Nothing to highlight that I didn't like - everything was great and I really like this hotel.
The one comment would be that the nearest car park is owned by the council and is absolutely EXTORTIONATE, the hotel parking is minimal.

Proximity to town centre, parking very close by, interesting building
Not enough areas to sit in the evening, partly due to two big Christmas parties, but still limited even without those.

I had a lovely stay at Hotel du Vin in Exeter. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the room was comfortable and stylish, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout my visit. Its central location made exploring the city easy, and overall it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience that I’d happily recommend.

My room was beautifully presented, well equipped, and very comfortable. It was very cold when I arrived, and the lighting over the control panel is very dim so, I did not successfully turn on the heating, until a friend shone a torch on the instructions later. Having only managed to warm the room late in the evening, it became uncomfortably hot during the night - even though I had turned the heating down.
I think the lighting in the entrance to the room is a little too dim. For a single night stay, a single room was fine. However, space would have been a little too restrictive for a longer stay, especially if I was working from the room.
The evening meal was delicious and good information and choices were available regarding special diets. The staff were excellent. I might have had breakfast, but felt that the cost was too steep for anyone who would normally choose just a coffee and a couple of slices of toast. I declined breakfast and settled for coffee only.
It is difficult to comment on comment on 'how safe the area is'. From the nearest carpark, we had to pass two graveyards. There was something a bit creepy about them, although I appreciate that is a highly subjective personal observation and not something that can be changed! I would probably want to park in the hotel carpark, rather than nearby, if I was arriving on my own late on a winter's evening.
The heating as described above
The lighting above the heating control panel was too dim to read the heating instructions and identify the symbols clearly. It required a torch, as described above.
For someone wanting a light breakfast, the price was not good value.

Excellent location. Beautifully appointed rooms.
Unfortunately, on the night of my stay , I felt that the hotel did not have enough staff on duty to cope with the number of check-ins and Christmas parties that were in progress. I had a problem with both flickering lighting in my room and the heating wasn’t working. I was first told that there were no other rooms available as the hotel was at full occupancy but on my second request, I was moved to another room which was excellent. The member of staff at provided excellent service but he was somewhat overwhelmed. The lady from housekeeping who helped me move to another room and then brought me a separate plug-in heater to warm up my room quickly, was wonderfully helpful and proactive.

Clean room, large bathroom with quality products, central location and friendly staff
Very small room and small breakfast for the price paid. The pop up plug was broken so the bath would fill with water when using the shower

The hotel was beautiful.
The bedroom was very quirky.
The reception staff on departure were lovely, and the restaurant staff in the evening were great.
There are only a handful of parking spaces outside the hotel, which I hadn't realised, and having driven a long way, it was disappointing; however, there is a paid car park around the corner.
The reception staff seemed too busy when I arrived to deal with me properly, so, all in all, the welcome to the hotel didn't live up to the hotel's overall standard.

A lovely break away for myself and partner, staff very friendly and attentive, the Deluxe room was spacious and very comfortable. A 5 minute walk to city centre and Xmas market. Champagne cocktails at happy hour, very nice. Breakfast delicious, Eggs Benedict for her, Traditional for me. Plenty of other things available, again staff very very attentive and friendly. All in all, a lovely time.
