The room was fabulous and the location was ideal. The staff were also brilliant and I had a great pint (good recommendation) and dinner in the pub. I’ve stayed a couple of times before (always been great) but this was the first time I arrived in time to go to the pub. Would definitely recommend!

Small room- clever photography to make it look bigger

Lovely room nice touches eye mask and earplugs. Right in centre of town so noise to be expected. Not dire try above pub so no inside noise. Just noise from people outside on street. Comfy bed and pillows. Lovely pub, nice food. Sport on if you wanted to watch footy or rugby. Next door to cathedral where we went to see a show.
Showerpower was non existant. So I could bring myself to have one. I dont think the water flow would have washed my hair. This was the only let down for me. We had room right at the top so a lot of stairs to carry your bags up. Not ideal for anyone with a disability. It was a super location. Walkable from trainstation and to where we're going in the evening.

The bed and bathroom.
I could open my window but my colleague's room was too hot and he couldn't open his windows. Consequently he didn't sleep much at all

The room was spacious and clean, bed was amazing, and to have a great pub next to it!!!
Everything was great

Great location. Nice looking. The building is the proper gem in Exeter. They have they own brewery. Lot of students and visitors over the weekend makes this place special to see and stay.
Found slight problem with a ventilation. Some sewer small in the room. But assuming this is due to the age of the building or possibly from the shower which could be not in use for long time.

The Location and Hamish, the Highland cow!
Most people would be excited to be told on arrival you have been upgraded, as we were; but to reach the upgraded room we had to climb 5 to 6 flights of narrow winding stairs! Then to have a sloping floor towards the bed! No plug to the sink in the bathroom, and marks on a number of walls, it didn’t feel much of an upgrade

Amazing location. Lovely staff.
Room was dirty, hair in bed, shower screen dirty with marks and some sort of liquid on it. Shelves were dusty.

Room was lovely
Drunk noisy people in the street below at 2:30am but totally get that it is situated on a Main Street on a buzzing city so was almost expected. No biggie.

Lovely pub, friendly helpful staff. Rooms were off to side of pub, up a lot of steps..(56 to our top floor room) and old windy staircases which are not grear for elderly guests. Room was clean, and nicely decorated with old sloping floor, only negative point which was not the pubs fault is there is a nightclub near by and the revellers were rather nosiy on the fri & sat nights still the small hours. Would stay there again but mid week rather than weekend.
Noisy teenagers outside

Location- central. Over busy large pub but couldnt hear noise from the room. Spacious room (4). Staff great.
No breakfast so biscuits would be welcome.
Bedside lighting too bright and not individual to either side of the bed.

It's perfect. Right on high street. In a pub. What could be better?
I hit my head on low beam. It's England. I'm 6'4

The bed was really comfortable, it had a central location, the water pressure in the shower was amazing, loved the heated towel bar, good selections of tea and coffee in the room. The decor was lovely.
I was there Friday - Monday, and although they provided earplugs and eye masks, the pub was so loud on Friday and Saturday that I barely slept at all. Additionally the pillows were flat, and the mantel stone kept crumbling and leaving “sand” in the bed. The checkout process I believe was told to me verbally, but I would have benefitted from a written check out process, because I forgot after the 4 nights.

Comfortable with a little more character than other rooms in that price range. Good pub.
Breakfast starts at 8am, which was too late for me.

Could be noisy being in the high street

This establishment simply oozes history and character.
To be fair this is not actually a criticism but being in room 5 was a hike up those steep stairs. The plus side being good exercise!

Comfortable, clean, location, character.
The pub noise was very loud BUT they do advise of the noise on the website and do provide earplugs so I’m not complaining but just more a word of warning (as I totally missed the warning :)

Wonderful venue and location. Interesting architecture.
The noise from the pub which went on late until 1am

Beautiful room with comfortable bed, staff friendly and helpful, great location for shopping and the quayside.
Noisy with drunken people on a night time as it's straight on the high street, however, I always sleep with earplugs, so not an issue for me and the hotel provide ear plugs and eye masks which was a lovely touch.

Great find - very central, rooms above a lovely real ale bar.
Very old building, nice, big room with beautiful shower room.
Loved having a paddle of real ale and ciders to round off our evening.
No breakfast available - but not a huge problem as they gave us plenty of suggestions for where to go.

Bed size and position in the room for two people was poor really dark room didn’t want to spend much time in the room

Location was good
The bathroom door is swollen up, no handle on the inside. So you need to either shower with door open or get someone to push the door from the outside.
No fridge, so could store any cold water. Only sparking water in the room.
No shower gel in the shower, just shampoo?
Shower needs to be cleaned it’s go mould on the mastic.
