The only thing that let it down was the bed the mattresses was to singles together they was very flat and you could feel every lump and bump in them we never had a good night sleep at all as every time you moved the bed springs dug in you and the popping of the springs would wake you up so we had to sleep on the sofa that was in the room also the toilet when you flush it the noise from that keeps you awake as it’s persistent noise for about half an hour from the little box behind it on the floor so we wouldn’t flush it till the next morning

We have visited WSM multiple times, & always stay at the Old Colonial. Its comfortable, & all the staff are so accommodating & friendly. The parking is also a big bonus, as the Old Colonial has their own bays in a busy car park

The staff were attentive and helpful. As the holiday season is over, food stops serving at 7.30. The manager made it clear about local alternatives and gave us choices. The beach front location is superb 👌

Lovely place

Lovely room for the price. Very spacious and had all the things you needed in the room. The location was brilliant, right on the beach and a small walk from town and the pier.

The bed was a little uncomfortable, the springs were loud and clearly very well used as there wasn't a lot of bounce. Having said that it didn't make the night's sleep too bad, just a little disrupted!

The manager and landlord made no effort to sort our issues The bar code we used for food was not for the pub we stayed our food order went to a different pub the staff made no effort to help us resolve this matter and on top of that said they had stopped serving food at 8.15pm after I went to the bar to enquire where our food was and was told oh yes sometimes the food goes to a different marathon pub and shrugged their shoulders. Room 9 stunk of shake and vac it was putrid and made me feel sick. You could smell it from the corridor before you went in. I asked the landlord to come up and smell it because it was such a strong smell I couldn’t sleep in there. The landlord said he could smell it but said his cleaners were not allowed to use any chemicals or strong smelling liquids. He had no other rooms and could not move us. We slept badly with the windows wide open in the middle of storm Amy gale force winds. I got on my hands and knees as did my partner and it was clear the carpet had been treated. I believe something had been spilt in there or the previous occupants had been sick on the carpet which is why they had to clean it and cover it up with a strong floral smell, The landlord clearly lied. The manager the following morning said they did use air freshener which contradicts what the landlord said. On going down for breakfast having had no dinner the manager spent 10 minutes arguing the toss over whether she could give us breakfast as there was no record of our booking it had mysteriously disappeared off her I pad.

Bed comfortable and room a lovely size. Lovely greeting from manager and had lunch which was good.

Could have been cleaner. Totally understand with an older building that can have hard to reach places but bathroom tiles and doors dirty. Coffee and milk were topped up but not the mugs.

Great value stopover for my family, perfect for a night at the beach

Comfortable beds, including proper beds for kids which is unusual in a family room. Friendly staff and easy check in and check out. Room was huge and great location for visiting the pier and the seafront.

Slightly dated in terms of tatty grout, skirting boards etc. Noise from rooms above- floor boards creaky and could hear every footstep.

Was a great location right near the beach. Comfortable bed and fairly clean room but the carpet was sticky and had stains on it. Breakfast was very good and good value for money. Staff were all friendly and professional especially Richard who was always cheerful and helpful.

Great location, good room and friendly staff

This was a last minute booking for 2 nights.When we arrived we were met by a very pleasant and helpful member of the team. Explained the parking, which was free, and explained the times of breakfast and dining information. Gave clear instructions on where our room was located and offered further help if required. A good start to our weekend. The hotel is opposite the beach, a great location, and there is a good sitting area outside which is roomy, clean and tidy where you can eat and drink. Our room was lovely. It was a great size and very clean and comfortable. There was a kettle with a large quantity of tea,coffee, and milk available and complimentary bottles of water. It was a very quiet room and although it was located at the side of a car park and over a restaurant/pub we had no disturbance at all. I would highly recommend staying here.

All the staff on duty who assisted were very supportive and pleasant. Nice view of WSM beach.

The room key was tricky to work and involved a visit to the bar for assistance. The room was very tired and required a deep clean, especially carpets and sticky floor in bathroom. The bed mattress had noisy springs that could be felt making an uncomfortable nights sleep. The floorboards creaked. Only one towel on arrival for three guests, had to go back to the bar for assistance as no-one on reception. Couldn’t use shower as required a bathmat, which we couldnt get before 8:00 am as no reception or bar open. We prepaid for breakfast only to advised this didn’t include drinks such as tea. The tables in the restaurant were sticky and menus stained with sauce prints. We were not advised that building refurbishment would be going on, excessive hammering going on

The bed was comfortable.

On arrival, we were left waiting at the bar for 30 mins to check in as a member of the bar staff doing check ins was on the phone! Chalk board at reception, check in at the bar. Of course Marstons can't pay for reception staff! The room was dirty!! The bed base had bleach marks all over it. The taps covered in limescale. Thick dust on the light fittings and dirty marks, stains and cracks all over the walls. Didn't sleep for our entire stay because of the noise coming from above. Floorboards are all broken in the rooms and you can hear every crack and creak of the floorboards above, and every door that opens and bangs. We advised the staff every day and they weren't interested. We'd arranged to meet the family there for dinner on the first night. They had no kitchen staff. I was told the staff couldn't afford a babysitter! Marstons you should be ashamed of yourselves, charging people good money to stay at this HOTEL of HORRORS. We were told this morning that it is up for sale, but they can't sell it. No money has been spent on this place for years!! It needs shutting down and a huge revamp. The rooms need soundproofing, and all floor boards need securing. I'm glad to be home to get a sleep! Do yourself a favour, pay that bit extra for a decent place. AVOID at all costs!! * Booking.com this hotel needs removing!

The staff were very welcoming ,polite and lovely people,the room was adequate clean and sea view ,my only gripe is the room could do with a mini fridge or fridge ,and the only place to fill the kettle was the bathroom ,it would of been great to have cold storage for drinks and water ,but overall it was a lovely room comfortable clean bed (checked with blue light lol 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻just saying) we will definately go back for another stay again ⭐⭐⭐thank you to the staff for a nice warm welcoming and stay ,

The location was perfect on the sea front and free limited number of parking spaces

Expensive. We paid £100 for 1 night. Family room. Beds were not comfortable, we booked a sea view room but did not get that. The soap dispenser was empty, the toilet had poo in it and we had to put the shower on for a good 10 mins before the water got warm and then it got too hot but couldn't get the temperature down after that and the water was just trickling out so it was hard to wash the shower gel off. Also if you can't do stairs then don't book as there is no lift.
