Bellrock Lodge

Absolutely lovely stay. The room had everything you could need and a beautiful view. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

The hotel is very close to town but is up a pretty steep hill. It was easy to walk into town but anyone with mobility challenges might need to drive instead.

Position of Bellrock was so convenient location location location, wonderful view from your room over looking the bay with a veranda to enjoy a cold wine or morning coffee

Just a little thing but would be so beneficial that if a fly screen to keep bugs out on those hot summer nights and let the breeze flow through

Friendly and obliging host - Catherine was welcoming and helpful. Great kitchen facilities including a dishwasher. Excellent bathroom. Enjoyed the balcony. Fabulous views. Perfect location - short walk to centre.

Enjoyed the view and the cleanliness of the property and the room. Location was close to the main street and pubs and resturants but far enough away to be nice and quiet and peaceful.

This place has it all. Exceptional standards of everything supplied in the room and quality of all the necessities from the bed to the appliances it has everything you would want or need all at a high standard. Clean, fresh, light and cosy and with a stunning view to compliment it all. A real pleasure to stay. We will definitely be back!

The rooms were clean and spacious with everything we needed. Plus we had an amazing view from our balcony. Our hosts Catherine and Stuart were wonderful! And of course their four legged friend Piper was too, got to take her for a walk hehe

We liked Bellrock Lodge and this little village so much, we even extended our stay! :) It is worth staying longer in Kororareka Russell and especially at Bellrock Lodge, so let us tell you why: Bellrock Lodge is situated on a little hill (if you walk, there are a few steep meters) and because of that, you will have the most amazing views from your terrace over the coast. On clear days you will even see as far as Waitangi. The apartment and the terrace are quite spacious, even the bathroom offers more than usual space in rental properties. It is very nice equipped. The garden is beautiful so you also see beautiful garden greenery from the terrace. The hosts Catherine and Stuart are very kind and responded fast via WhatsApp. Their sweet dog Piper was also a great host and excited to offer play time with her favorite football and such :D Catherine and Stuart were always very hospitable, so for instance, if you get in a morning rain like us, getting new towels is easy peasy, just a message/call away ;-) The Lodge offers great amendities: laundry, dryer, DVD Library (great selection, we loved it), CD and Book Library aswell... To top it off, the Whirlpool and BBQ area are great, with superb views also. We loved to enjoy the Spa, especially on rainy days. In addition to that, we highly appreciated how thoughtful everything is equipped, there are umbrellas in the driveway, wineglasses from plastic for the Spa, different chairs (even comfy reading/TV chairs), more than 2 different towel sizes and many more things like that.. We have travelled a lot and Bellrock Lodge is one of our favorites. You nearly forget, that you are at a self-service accomendation because everything is so thoughtfully done. It is worth staying longer, you can experience a lot in the area, walk to the beaches from Bellrock if you want to, get groceries and have great restaurants/cafés in town.

What is not to like? We didn't miss anything and had a perfect stay, but you should be aware that there is a few (maybe 20?) steep meters to get to the Lodge. The walls are a bit thin, we didn't mind though and it was still quiet and tranquil enough for us. (We live in a calm 5000 ppl village, so in a calm environment)

It was only for one night and for a short amount of time spent in the room. I would go again without a second thought if anywhere else if Russell was my destination and I highly recommend it for others. Actually already have told someone who has a group going up in a few months for a wedding. As soon as I walked in..and friend..we were delighted. The view was fantastic and the unit was very handy to the Duke where we were spending the evening. Thanks for Catherine.

Oh..well just the microwave light was very bright and as beds are in the kitchenette lounge(which is great-very homely) was abit annoying yet some would say a little light to get up with. For me, I hung a towel over the handle which dimmed it heaps.

Lovely location and beautiful view from balcony. Very steep hill to get to property, but that's why the view was great! Rooms were clean and very nicely laid out. Highly recommend.

The location was fantastic and views were amazing from our room. Bellrock was a close walk to go to the town centre to have meals and for walks along the waterfront.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bellrock. It has a stunning view over Russell with so many personal and thoughtful touches throughout the accomodations.

It was all great

Spotless, spacious & well equipped accommodation a few mins walk to centre. Stunning views from the balcony. We had a great 3 night stay. Laundry room, hot tub were nice extras. Quite a steep driveway for walking back but would not put me off returning or recommending. Hosts were attentive & responsive to any questions & requests.

The longer we stayed here the more we liked it! The location is wonderful - just a very short walk to downtown Russell with shops and restaurants. And what you get in exchange is an incredible view! Bed was the comfiest of our trip - cushy and soft but not saggy at all. Good a/c but nice to have the doors open in the daytime. Lots of good walks and we swam a few times at the beach that was 2 minutes away. Great stay!
