Good location, close to everything, beach right across the road. John was super friendly and helpful. Room was nice and spacious.

No view from the room (looked out to car park) and patio area in front of the room lost the sun in the afternoon. There was a shared sundeck area but the seating wasn’t great.

Perfect location and great staff

the Motel is an old fashioned 70's type one story with side by side rooms, which you park out the front. However it is clean and functional and they have done some modernisation. Location is perfect - beach is over the road and the shops 5 mins walk. The staff were so friendly - the best we had on our entire 3 week trip. Gave us beach towels and so considerate. We had a one room, which had 3 single beds and the master bed in the main area. It worked with a small kitchen that was functional enough to cook a basic meal. Highly recommend

Location and quality of unit makes this a “must-stay” motel.

John is a wonderful host. He is accommodating and friendly. The facilities were excellent. My room, the one-bedroom suite, was at the back of the property, meaning some distance from the road, so it was very quiet; the view of the ocean was an added bonus. “Down town”, including great bars and restaurants are all within a 5 minute walk. A la Moana also has a BBQ area for guests’ use. The ferry terminal (for ferry over to Russell) is just a 4-minute walk away. The Treaty of Waitangi site is 5 minutes by car, or a pleasant 20-minute walk from the ferry pier.

Perfect location to use as a base for day trips and to explore. Close to restaurants, bars, shopping, chemist and ferry to Russell. Lovely outlook across to the beach.

We had six days of absolute bliss at our unit the upstairs outdoor balcony was a real sun trap

Bedroom and lounge were spacious and with a view of the bay John the owner operator was very approachable and avoided looking straight into our windows while going about his daily work Although next to a main road and a busy bar Nxt Door Our room was always quiet and peaceful

If I wanted to be picky I found there was limited space in the bathroom And we were very cautious about the step up into the shower

Really needed break

Walking distance to a miriad of restaurants and bars is wonderful.Went to Typsy Oyster for dinner. Food and music were excellent and is right next door to motel so no driving involved Wonderful beds and pillows

Chairs were too low to be able to eat and to be comfortable. Perhaps cushions being added to raise seated height for comfort and ability to eat would help

Right next to everything, shops, restaurants and the ferry. Super nice host helped get us tickets for 10% off on “The hole in the Rock”excursion. The place was a little dated but very comfy with soft beds. The price was good so it was a good value. I stayed end of April so the prices were better than summertime. I would stay there again.
