Did the simple stuff right

It was a well run simple hostle. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was solid. Definite value for money, only a short walk into town. Was pretty much exactly what we were looking for

I am not a regular hostel user but I have had some experience along the years. This was defiently the worst. They stuffed in 6 beds in a room that was not even 12 m2. It seemed a bit inhumane and unbelievably stingy (I forgot I was in Switzerland). Luckily we were only 5 guests. You could barley walk in the room to go to the toilet. Toilet missed hooks to hang your stuff. Toilet seat was loose. No air conditioning in hot summer nights of Locarno. Luckily I stayed only for one night. The only positive was breakfast.

i had to check in late due to a late night train, but the staffs were super helpful in ensuring that i manage to check in by myself. got a shared dorm all by myself and i thought the staffs were very considerate because i was pretty worried that i would wake the roommate during late night if i had one.

Everything is clean

Easy breakfast. Very clean toilets and showers.

There was only 2 power outlet which were not even close to the beds. This was very inconvenient. It needs to be written explicitly to have coins with you to be able to lock the locker. There is no AC (air conditioning). Staying in summer is not recommended.

Everything was great: the room, the staff, the breakfast. We were very happy with the service we got.

The building is kind of badly sound-proofed so we recommend using earplugs to sleep well.

Great place.

Christian at the front desk was so kind, resourceful, and conversational. Breakfast was great. The fact that my bed was made when I arrived! So nice to not have to do that.

Very loud kids made the stay unpleasant.

Good location - alright rooms - horrible staff

We stayed at the Youth Hostel for 2 nights with a group of 14 students aged 21 and up, plus supervisors and profs as part of a 3 week trip through Europe. Besides the location - which is close to the city center - there is unfortunately not much good that I can say about our stay. A few neutral points before I get to the challenges we experienced: Rooms are small, have a bit of a hospital feel to them, but beds are comfortable. The rooms are not sound insulated. Bring earplugs! Single room bathrooms are tiny like in an RV but everything works. Breakfast buffet is good, small but ok selection. Coffee is good too and comes from 2 machines where at times a lineup can form.

What could have been an ok stay was turned into a disappointment by the staff at the reception, who were rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. On arrival at around 6:30pm they figured that they had forgotten to organize the dinner which we had booked for 7pm. With a large group (18 people) on a budget, obviously that is a problem. Until today I haven't heard a word of apology for their screw-up. Second they told us that we could not have breakfast before 08:30am because there would be too many other people having breakfast before. With excursions planned for the day and guest speakers lined up, that caused all kinds of headaches for us. The staff did not help, or try to accommodate our needs. This is something we should've been told in advance! After 2 weeks of travelling we had specifically booked an accommodation with laundry in Locarno. But there is no coin laundry as one might expect from the description on the website. You can get a large net, fill it with your laundry and - in theory - get it washed and dried for CHF15. However, the staff told us that they have too much of their own laundry to wash, as a big group had just left, so they would not be able to wash our loads. They decided to inform us about this after they held on to the bag for half a day, with the result that it was basically impossible for us to get things washed elsewhere. Total gongshow.

Hot and uncomfortable

The location was perfect for assisting to the Locarno Film Festival. Breakfast was nice. And the staff was very polite.

Rooms were structured in a really strange manner and had little air circulation. If you opened the windows the sun will be all over the room. For such a expensive shared room, it was hot and uncomfortable.
