A minor complaint that check-in was slow. Really needed a second person on Reception. However, check-out in the morning was excellent.

Dark rooms with not enough lighting was the main issue. Rooms are quite dated and feels old. And although room was described as having a kettle, it was not there, although it was provided when I asked for it.

The hotel did not care about lost items

The electronics which we accidentally left behind in the hotel room was kept by hotel. We get back to them in a few hours after checkout to ask but they said that they could not find it. Not even single apologies. So be careful with your personal belongings not to leave behind when checkout.

A week's enjoyable stay

Central location. Good size room with plenty of hanging space and draws as we were there for a week. Breakfasts excellent plenty of choice.

Bedside lighting could be brighter difficult to read. Pop up sink plug in basin didn't work. Reported but not sorted but managed.

Do not recommend!

It was clean

The stuff was rude. They had zero understanding one of my family member was sick and we need it to stay few more hours after check out time. Instead we had to pay one more night for three people. Although the hotel has its own parking we had to pay 28 euro per day. Again they charged us a full 24 hours extra although we were just two hours extra after the check out time. The beds were very hard. The ’spa’ is old and the chlorine smell was overpowering. In general the whole hotel is outdated. You feel you landed in 70’s. It is not a 4 star hotel anymore.

Highly recommended accommodation for Freiburg

Excellent location opposite the Freiburg HBf station. Restaurants, bars, and shopping just around the corner. Clean and modern comforts.. Freiburg has a lovely mixture of traditional German buildings with modern architecture.

Just like most modern hotel rooms, I find the lighting inadequate. I was surprised to discover that the my room didn't have a safe for my passport and important documents.

Good location

Where to start? - front desk was not helpful, didn‘t even knew about the own parking conditions and prices. Charged us differently for the same service. At least the nice man at the front desk from check out saw the flaw and corrected that mistake. Thanks for that! - we had 3 rooms, 2 of them had no tissues (just one inserted, so that it looked full). - one room had no soap. We told the front desk, nothing happend. Also not the next day after room service - toilet was not clean upon arrival in one room - no toilet paper in one room.

Swimming pool was nice, but a little small.

In the restaurant portions are big, but the menu is quite pricey; kids menu 19 EU. Burger 26 etc. Also the food was rather bland.

We loved the location, the hotel was clean, breakfast was excellent and the pool / sauna was a great facility. Really happy with the stay overall.

We didn't have enough pillows and the kids had been given just one small duvet to share...we asked for another one and we're told we got lucky to get the 'last' one...surely Novotel can invest in enough pillows and blankets.

Perfect stay for a holiday in Freiburg

This was the first hotel we’ve stayed in for a long time that actually had a seriously comfortable bed and pillows! This is what means the most to us when travelling because having a good night’s sleep is so important to enjoy our vacation to the fullest. Location is perfect - right next to the main station, close to trams and so many options to eat nearby. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the chocolate cake I ordered from room service was incredible. It was also nice to be able to open our windows in the hotel room for fresh air.

Good location, good facility, poor room service

Nice size room

Service of room pathetic. Don't replace shower-gel/shampoo when finished. Do nor replenish coffee, tea, milk or water when service rooms. Had to report to management and even then only 1/2 of items replaced/replenished.
