Great experience - some space for improvement, but I do recommend and would book again!

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and towels changed every day, bed was made as well. My room was spacious, although old-furniture, it was alright for a few nights. Hotel seems to have a special charm and is beautiful. Excellent location - Hotel is in the heart of City and close to Airport.

The noise was not great, I could hear from other rooms. The Hotel is quite old and could do with an upgrade in some areas. It was a bit pricey considering these issues. It was also very cold (in Jan) extra blankets are provided and there is a heater, but it was not enough for me, personally, I think a modern aircon would be ideal as it got -3 degrees and below. But in all fairness I had a good experience in Bologna and the Hotel, I would book this Hotel again if it is available at lower costs (perhaps start of Jan is high-season).

Located in the old centre in a quiet street, old building with a spirit of old hotels, good breakfast with plenty of choice and excellent coffee.

Squeaky floor (understandable for a building this old) and some stuff obviously very worn out (some maintenance would be useful), shower panels cover only 2/3 of the gap.

Okay. Would rather a more comfortable bed . Hard to sleep and room was very cold

The location in the city is ideal!! Its located so centrally and an easy walk from everything! The facilities were clean and it had a beautoful old school feel to the building. The staff was very nice and helpful though.

Breakfast was boring and not very tasty. Coffee wasnt great. Beds were as hard as a rock. Room was cold and the temperature didnt seem to adjust when we tried.

I only liked how well located it was and, to say something else, some of the views you could have of the city. But not much more.

The worst thing of all was that during the 3 days I stayed there, I couldn’t take a shower with hot water. I came in November and it’s cold, and the first thing I want to do after spending the day outside is to take a good shower — but I couldn’t even do that. On top of that, the excuse they gave me was that the boiler is downstairs and since my room is the last one, the hot water doesn’t reach it properly. That seems like a very poor excuse to me, and they didn’t even try to find a different solution. I had to pay the same as everyone else without even getting a basic service like being able to shower properly — I find that unacceptable. The rest of the issues are more superficial, like for example the hotel being very old and in need of a bit of a facelift (my room literally looked like a cross between Twin Peaks and a soviet bunker). The breakfast is also quite mediocre. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Great location, but only a shadow of its former glory

The location was great right next to the main sites. The own garage was a huge plus. Also the breakfast was good.

Excellent in every way.

Good baggage drop. Suitcase rack; carpeted floor; mirror and coat hangers all in room. It was such a pleasure to have all the amenities in one's room, unlike many of the places I have stayed at recently, especially at such a reasonable price for a major city so close to the main piazzas.

I couldn't fault the room or the hotel in any way. It was a delight to stay here.

Great central location near restaurants and bars. Welcoming friendly helpful staff staff helpful . Nice fresh towels. Good breakfast Comfy bed and linen. The hotel is in an grand imposing building., Decor inside is dated but clean.

I was on the third floor and the cinema is below. so it was noisy until the film finished then it was very quiet. Little noise from other rooms or client in the corridor.

Hotel palace review Despite so many complaining comments, I am running to leave a genuine and happy review here from me as the stay at this hotel was more than delightful :,) I travel to Bologna every year and I do try to book a place on a budget and Hotel Palace was one of those budget choices also - with so many complains in the comments. Although many would not consider the place because of the comments here, I will try my best to change the point of view with my opinion. First of all - reception is so nice, people are so warm and always so sweet to talk to you. I instantly felt welcomed and overheard them talking to others - they do consistently work like that with all their customers :,) Second thing - the room is so nice! Mine was a small room on the third floor and it had a cute window with a view of Bologna’s oldtown roof tops. And that is so sweet! I spent my mornings and my evenings sitting by the window and welcoming the sun also - watch it set down. It was beautiful to say the least! Loved that! The room despite being a smaller one, did not lack space and was soo light always from sunlight coming from the window. Working by the table was really sweet during the days too - I wasn’t feeling sad when I had to work on a sunny day because I could be there with windows wide open. Third thing - I saw complains about the building/rooms/facilities being old? And of course - it’s an oldschool hotel although I’d say it just adds the charm to the picture. I never saw and never will see a problem of hotels being old - as long as it was comfortable, clean and served the purpose of staying a night or few, it is brilliant. And so this Hotel was just that. About cleanliness - also found complains about that. My room was cleaned every single day - new towels prepared, new little soaps ect. It was a fresh every single day and I always thought it’s more than I’d expect from a hotel.

RUBBISH! Avoid at all costs - You won't sleep!

Excellent location but nothing else

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! There is a cinema next door and the loud sound reverberates throughout the rooms with the last session ending after midnight. Management was arrogant, would not offer a room change, would not respond to my email of complaint, would not offer a refund of the remaining three nights accommodation booked; just handed me earplugs and shrugged. I got very little peaceful sleep. Bed was hard and the UK programming promised on TV didn't work. Complete rubbish!! I am no princess having travelled to 55 countries and stayed in MANY different hotels. This has been the WORST experience ever.

The location of the hotel is right near the city center which was great.

The rooms here small and very very cold in December. The bathroom was the biggest problem. It’s small, unheated, there is no radiator in there. The appliances were old and dirty, the shower was horrible, the shower cap was leaking the entire time we stayed and was gross. Also the shower curtain was moldy and black on the lower part. The furniture in the room is old and not working properly,, the outlets were few and very old. Also, the bedside table had glass on top which was broken of course and i cut myself in it.

Location and proximity to everything was fantastic. Room in general was clean. The staff were mostly helpful. Lift was a good size and they offered luggage storage.

The overall cleanliness of the shared spaces, for example, the carpets in the hallways were so filthy and stained. The room itself was clean but very dated. Beds were hard and pillows uncomfortable. The shower was tiny and water flooded the bathroom floor.

The location is great and they offer private parking (18€ a night). Staff was in general quite friendly.

Seems like they had no renovations since the 1980s. Stains everywhere in the carpet, old squeaky bed, a very dated bathroom and in general just a really weird smell in the whole hotel... Also there wasn't any airconditioning so we were boiling in our room.

Well-situated to center of town and Piazza Maggiore. Very friendly staff, good breakfast (recommend including in reservation). Rooms basic, but comfortable.

Room wasn't air-conditioned, but large window opened, so air flow was nice. Would have preferred double bed to twin (or two twins put together), but bed was still comfortable.

Staff were fine and location is very good.

Value for money was very bad. The room was tiny and hadn't been renovated since the 1980s. Pity because if the room had been cheaper: 100 Euro instead of 200 Euro I would be writing a positive review.
