Nothing, all good.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was nice and the bed super comfy. Loved the granola and yoghurt. What a nice touch.
My room overlooked the front of the pub and being the first nice evening of the year it was quite noisy- as was the local cat in the wee hours! The cleaning was a bit haphazard and I found a tooth pick on the floor by my bed and dust in a few places. Not the end of the world though.

A cosy stay, in a room that had plenty of olde worlde charm about it. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and friendly, and although we didn't drink in the pub, we did buy a drink from the bar and happily took it up to our room.
In the room itself, the bed was cosy and the heaters were great on a chilly February evening. If we had more time, we would have loved to have eaten in the pub, as their roast dinner on a Sunday was highly recommended. We loved our little breakfast granola and muffins, and the yoghurt - a nice touch.
It's not exactly a dislike, more of a personal preference about the location - we usually prefer to be smack bang in the centre of where we visit, but that said, for £6, we got an Uber into town because it was raining heavily on the Sunday morning, but all the other times, we walked into town. It's about 10 minutes, depending on how quick you walk, and it didn't take us long to navigate through the residential streets.

Quirky venue, super busy at the Christmas time, food looked good and tables were full.
Staff working well together in a busy environment.
Initial confusion with staff re our booking, and another guest's.
We had a room with a radiator that was on the blink, the staff looked at it and shrugged, said it was odd and it usually worked. Being an old building and December we could have done with it being on as we arrived and some effort into getting it working. We sorted it ourselves later that night before bed.
Room decor was whimsy and vintage as you'd imagine but it was dusty and the bed not comfortable.
Just all a bit disappointing.

Clean room.
Extremely steep stairs with no handrail! Toilet roll ran out and there was no spare roll - sounds trivial but I suffer from IBS. Nobody at the pub after 11pm so was unable to ask where spares might be.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and explained everything well. It is only a 15 minute walk from the station (beware the very sparse and low street lighting of Winchester). The bedroom was comfortable and clean. The breakfast fridge was novel and well stocked. The pub is lovely and the food excellent. The beer is great.
The bathroom could do with a refurb.

The welcome and the room comfort.
The bar where we ate was very noisy, understandable as it was Valentine's Day and six nations rugby. One particular person was drunk and noisy, which detracted from the otherwise nice ambience.

Lovely locals pub, very cosy, close to city centre with welcoming staff. Also very reasonably priced.
Nothing really, we knew there wasn’t any cooked breakfast available but had yoghurt, muffins & granola in the room which was appreciated.
We had a problem with the kettle and/or water which we couldn’t really do anything about. There’s an emergency contact but it wasn’t worth calling about!

Very handy for the town centre and railway station just a few minutes walk away. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The pub seemed very busy whilst it was open over Christmas and popular with the locals.
I did have to message the property with a few issues with my room.. as I was staying from the 23rd till the 27th I had limited contact with the staff who weren’t on the premises for some of the time and whilst the pub was shut. I did get moved to another room for the last night I was staying over but the trip was spoiled due to the poor standards in the original room.

A proper old Victorian pub selling excellent ales and extremely tasty food, the staff were superb and couldn’t do enough for you, I think I might stay again one day.
It’s very old and the floors are not level (that’s uncontrollable to the owners due to reconfiguration of the floor plan over 160 years), so take time to familiarise yourself with the hazard tape highlighting unequal levels, took me two minutes to work it out.

Good location and easy parking with permit supplied by pub.
Good sized room with lovely continental breakfast in the room.
A torrential rain weekend and our host, before checking in time, went above and beyond to dry our outerwear so we could revisit the Christmas market in the late afternoon.

My friend and I met in Winchester for the christmas market and booked the King Alfred pub for an overnight stay. Walking distance from the station. Staff were so welcoming on arrival that we decided to have lunch there whilst waiting to check in. Varied choice from menu and food was delicious. Really lovely atmosphere in the bar. Music playing in the back ground was at the right level. Young Lady showed us to our room which was clean and plenty of room. Informed us that breakfast was in the fridge in our room. After the market spent a great evening in the bar. Change of staff however standards remained as high, friendly and helpful. Had a good nights sleep in comfy beds. Breakfast was really nice. Granola, yogurt, satsuma and muffin. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Will definitly be returning. Well done King Alfred pub.

The pub was lovely and cosy and had great food, there were friendly and helpful staff, the free parking and proximity to the city centre were good.
Our room was a bit tired and very cold - the small electric heater can only be turned on once you’re in the room and takes a long while to warm up and the bathroom towel rail was lukewarm. It was noisy in the mornings. Our room didn’t seem quite ready-things missing, dirty carpet etc.

Bed and thin walls, you can hear the TV and people talking in their rooms and in the hall.

Lovely pub with a selection of real ales on draught. Our room was large and had everything needed. The breakfast granola and muffins were a lovely touch and so fresh. We received a warm welcome and were able to check in early. Overall, very good value for money.
Not much soundproofing between rooms and no double-glazing (doubtless due to the age of the place and planning rules).
