Oia Mare Villas

We stayed in a private Villa managed by OIA Mare Villa. Excellent location, spectacular views, a jacuzzi overlooking the crystal blue Ocean of OIA, right in the heart of town.

Our stay at Oia Mares Villas was amazing. The location is perfect — right in the heart of Oia with stunning views of the caldera and sunset, which we could enjoy from the private terrace. We booked the Honeymoon Cave with Hot tub. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The hot tub was always at the ideal temperature. Reception was extremely helpful with reservations and local tips. A special mention to the staff member who carried our luggage all the way from the taxi drop-off and over the stairs — such a big help and much appreciated!

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like, but be aware there are quite a few steps to reach the property — something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. It also would’ve been nice to have the bottled water replaced daily.

One of the two nights we were stayed - the roof top was privatised for a private event which meant we could not use it to see the sunset... which is the primary reason we booked this hotel. Plus mgt did not inform us in advance so we cold make other plans - it was on arrival at sunset.. that the actual couple let us know...

Views were simply amazing from the location especially in a private setting away from all the crowds – can stay here watching beautiful Santorini sunset everyday! Room was clean and spacious. The heated jacuzzi was so relaxing again with great views. Breakfast was ample and communication was also efficient throughout the stay. Private transfers with the porter’s help on luggage were definitely essential too.

For the price charged I would expect at least that some basic supplies can be better stocked (iron boards, towels, tissue/toilet papers, etc). Not the hotel’s fault but the steps getting in and out everyday could get increasingly challenging depending on the length of the stay.

The suite was well presented and the daily room service was very good. The breakfast by the pool each day offered a big variety of freshly cooked food and fresh fruit and cereals and was always kept tidy and topped up. All of the staff that we interacted with were friendly and courteous. The view from our room was 2nd to none with uninterrupted views of the Caldera. We weren't expecting quite so many steps from the road down to the suite but we managed We're both in our mid 60's). I don't think this would be a good location for the elderly or physically challenged however. Our boat was considerably delayed due to bad weather but our designated transfer driver and porter stayed back until after midnight to make sure we arrived safely to our suite. If you are a cat lover you'll LOVE this pace as there are a lot of stray cats and kittens to amuse you and give cuddles to.

I cannot think of anything that I didn't like about where we stayed. There was an aroma of cat urine sometimes in some places but as there are many stray cats around it's hardly surprising and not the fault of the establishment or any reflection of their management. The cats by the way are also very friendly and although they are strays they are fed by the locals on a daily basis. They do like to visit at breakfast though in the hopes that they might get lucky with some cold meat, yoghurt or egg yolk!

We booked a “honeymoon suite” at this hotel to celebrate our marriage last week. But unfortunately the experience did not match our expectations. The photos online showed a variety of rooms, many of which looked beautiful, but the one we were given was far less impressive. Our room was set deep into the cave with almost no view, which was very disappointing for a honeymoon. We even requested a specific hot tub back in April, which should give plenty of time to accommodate. When I raised my concerns with the front desk, I was told to email reservations instead. Their reply was essentially that they were within their rights to assign us any room in the “room type,” regardless of what was pictured. Only at the end did they agree to move us the next day, and while the new room was nicer, this highlighted how much of a gamble these suites are. There is a huge difference between them, so beware—it really is luck of the draw. You can’t comfortably watch the sunset from most rooms. Instead, they suggest the rooftop terrace, but it’s crowded, with limited seating and filled with other guests. Switching rooms also revealed some surprising inconsistencies: The first room had a hotter hot tub, a coffee machine, and Netflix on the TV. The second room’s tub was lukewarm (we were told it could not be made warmer), there was no coffee machine, and the TV only had a few channels. For a 4-star resort, I also expected more basic amenities. A water refill station would be simple to provide. Instead, you can buy bottles from the hotel at €2 each, while they cost €0.50 just outside the property. Towels and robes were also very worn, with loose threads and stiff fabric from overuse. Our checkout experience was also unprofessional: 1. At 10:30pm, there was an unexpected knock on the door to drop off breakfast for the next morning—quite disruptive when we were already in bed preparing for an early start. 2.
