NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg

Close to central station and the main square. Good breakfast, reasonable price. My unexpected too early check in was also accommodated. Extremely nice personnel, no and waiting times. Bed and all facilities in the room were excellent too.

- Transparent doors to the toilet: I don't understand the concept :) - (free) wifi was a bit slow at times, but it worked.

Central location. The venues I needed to get to were typically 10 minutes walk away. The aircon worked well, which was essential in the heatwave. They give you the option of skipping room cleaning each night in return for a drinks voucher.

The breakfast selection wasn't to my taste. In the room there's an odd door to the bathroom which when opened blocks the entrance to the room. Every time you go from the bed area to the bathroom you have to squeeze round this odd door. A sliding door would be much more appropriate in a cramped space. There was a small shop in the lobby which is useful in an emergency, but a small bottle of water was around EUR 5, around 3 times the price in the supermarket

The location of the hotel was why it was chosen. Typically I do not choose chains, because there are elements lacking and that proved to be the case here.

The staff was stuffy and not helpful, it was like talking to a robot. the room although very clean had many rough edges. There was cracked and chipped tile in the bathroom. Many of the wooden floor panels had been chipped. More care should be taken if you are going to charge these rates.
