Beautiful, private Cabañas

Beautiful setting, only 3 Cabañas , very private. Nice shady patio with chairs and hammock. Small but nice pool for cooling off. Right across from the trail to punta cometa .

No AC but didn’t need it-open air with fans. One temp water, fine for the hot days. Steep hill from town.

Relaxing days in a tropical setting.

Cabañas Amaia is located on a hill above Mazunte. The grounds of the cabañas are beautifully landscaped, with lots of lush green, flowers and shade. We loved to cool off in the small pool. The cabañas are very spacious and have a private feel to them. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Calm and Peaceful

I liked Julien and Adriana very much although I didn't see them much. Julien was attentive to needs and was always available via WhatsApp and helped arrange some things for me. Imelda who is there all morning is very kind and helpful and served up a nice cup of coffee. I liked the design of the cabins and secluded peaceful feeling of the place and its close to Punta Cometa for the sunset and two beaches as well as to town.

I would love to have the option for breakfast and food available, but it is small and I knew when I booked it that I would need to eat all my meals out. It needs a couple tables for drinks and coffee at the pool, but that's such a little and easily fixable thing.

Beautiful cabins in an excellent location to explore Mazunte.

The cabins are incredible! Beautifully built and there are so many amazing details. They are also really private so you feel like you have the place to yourself. We loved an evening dip in the pool too. Great location! Julien gave us lots of great tips to make the most of our time there and it was the perfect base to explore other towns nearby.

Secluded and private, lovely stay

Super lovely place to stay. The cabin was impeccable and made with quality materials and eye for detail. It’s much nicer in reality than on the websites photos. Bed very comfortable, loved the little terrace and hammock outside. There is a locker for your valuables. The dipping pool was nice to cool off at the end of the day. The cabins are very secluded, it feels like you are the only guest there. Free drinking water and also tea and coffee in the mornings. The location is good: a little way up a side road from the main road, so it’s still close to bars and restaurants but far enough away to be very quiet. I’d say it’s maybe about five minutes walking to the main road. It is also opposite the trail head to the Punta Cometa, so it is easy to visit early in the morning for sunrise. The host was very friendly and helpful.

Little Paradies, it is green and quiet.

It’s really quiet and you have the pool almost to yourself. The rooms are super clean and we hammock outside our house. November and early December are the best months to go.

Thank you Julien for a wonderful stay at your cabañas. We looked at lots of other hotels but chose Amaia because of all the great reviews, and we were not disappointed! Such a beautiful property. It's far enough away from Mazunte proper to have lots of peace and quiet, but close enough to enjoy everything that there is to do in the town. The property was immaculately clean, and the pool and outdoor shower was a lovely thing to come back to after a day on the beach. Julien is a brilliant host, who has a lot of care for the property and the surrounding area. It's the perfect place to stay in Mazunte. Do yourself a favour and book it!

We had a perfect stay here at Cabañas Amaia, probably the most comfortable stay we have had on our whole trip. The pool was lovely on the stormy day when the swell was too large for swimming, the morning coffee was so welcomed and the bed was very comfortable! Plus Julien and Adriana were super lovely hosts and very welcoming :-)

Well kept escape close to the beach, quiet and private compound. Host Julian was very accommodating, made our stay very easy.

No Wi-Fi, which is tricky in an area with no cell signal. The shower was nothing more than a trickle, shame considering everything else was great.

A beautiful bungalow ensconced in tropical gardens, lush with bird of paradise in bloom. A hammock and comfy chairs on the deck, inviting you to wile away an afternoon, or a day, absorbing the wonder of it all. An almost private swimming pool steps away. It felt like it our own private retreat. And Julian, the creator, always available to help or chat in Spanish, English or French. A special person who is a pleasure to meet.

A wonderful perfectly located place to stay for a trip to Mazunte.

Our stay was wonderful, we felt right at home. The cabanas have everything you need, and feel very private. The common pool was a perfect way too cool off from the heat.

There was NOTHING we noticed that NEEDED to be changed. Everything is well detailed and the construction is great. Overall an amaizing place to stay, we will be back again.

Just details but to get there you had to go up the mountain, it was very hot and as we were walking it seemed like we would never arrive, also they could add an air conditioning to the room and the shower could be better there was very little water. But again overall a super good stay and experience, definitely recommend

Amazing spot in Mazunte

Lovely, clean, spacious cabanas just a few minutes walk from the main street and beach in Mazunte. And a super comfortable bed! Julien was an amazing host with lots of helpful information about things to do in the area. The entrance is right across from the trail to Punta Cometa where we saw an amazing sunrise. It was so nice having the little pool to cool off in as the waves can be really big at the beach!

This place is simply sublime. EVERYTHING is 'just so'...clearly for the owners it is a labour or love, and it shows. If you are reading this review and considering this place, just BOOK IT...you will be very glad you did. I have travelled all over the world, and this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed!

A few hooks for hanging clothing or bathing suits anywhere inside or outside the cabin would have been great. There is no A/C, but a nice fan on a stand is provided, which absolutely does the job. That's it (seriously!)

Julien was the nicest, most welcoming, and accommodating hosts, and has created an absolutely lovely space here at his Cabañas Amaia. He greets you every morning with a freshly made cup of coffee, and is full of amazing recommendations of what to do in the area, and is more than happy to share and help out with your plans :) Beautifully designed and decorated cabanas, comfortable, clean, with lots of plants and the perfect little pool to cool off in. Great location too, just up the hill and a 5 minute walk from the main rinconcito street with lots of restaurants and shops, which is close enough for convenience, but far enough to be extra peaceful and wonderful. Plus, the trail to La Punta Cometa is just across the street from the cabanas, so you can easily go explore this gorgeous spot. Will definitely stay here on our next visit, absolutely loved it here!

Exceptional stay. Worth every peso :D

Julian is a great host. He did his best to welcome us. The facilities are beautiful, very comfortable, clean and look quite new. The pool is also clean, with a nice view and great temperature. The design of the place was very well though, the room and the bed are huge and because of the way it has been looked after, the stay is very pleasant.

There are LOT of mosquitos, which obviously isn't their fault, but maybe they could do something about it, like having some kind of repellent for the room.

Beautiful big bed in a lovely cabana. The owner was lovely and you could tell also cared a lot about the protection and preservation of the beautiful town of Mazunte.

Green oasis in Mazunte

We only have great things to say about Cabanas. We spent all together 5 nights there. The place is family owned and the owner Julian is there every day taking care of the place and making sure you are comfortable. He was very generous with his time, local knowledge and tasty coffee. The cabanas themselves (there are only 3) are beautiful and comfortable. Each is surrounded by lush greenery, so they are very private! It was the best place to escape the madness of Mazunte during the Christmas holidays. It's conveniently located between the main beach and Playa Mermejita.
