If you transplanted this motel to Sydney or the Queensland coast, you would pay a fortune to stay there. What a find. I had a big motel room with separate double bedroom and a single bed in the living area. There was a decent kitchen, and it had been attractively renovated. The views are fantastic. And it’s walking distance to the only eating place in Whangaroa, the Sport Fishing Club (excellent).

Location was quite and peaceful with a view of the amazing river side. Went for a morning walk with my parents and loved the flora and fauna around it.

The view onto the bay
The place has seen its best days. Everything is a little worn out and dirty.
The inside as well as the outside. When I opened the drawer with the kitchen utensils some where dirty…
It’s the kind of place you leave your flip flops on and wash the cutlery and plate before you use them. The bed linens were clean but some stains were present that apparently do not go out anymore.
I am somewhat sorry to write this review as the owner is probably doing her best but the place feels like they gave up on it-the for sale sign does not help the feeling of being given up on.
The road is just underneath the lodge and was frequently used the night we were there.
WiFi was very shaky in our room (seaview).
We were happy to move on.
