The view onto the bay

The place has seen its best days. Everything is a little worn out and dirty. The inside as well as the outside. When I opened the drawer with the kitchen utensils some where dirty… It’s the kind of place you leave your flip flops on and wash the cutlery and plate before you use them. The bed linens were clean but some stains were present that apparently do not go out anymore. I am somewhat sorry to write this review as the owner is probably doing her best but the place feels like they gave up on it-the for sale sign does not help the feeling of being given up on. The road is just underneath the lodge and was frequently used the night we were there. WiFi was very shaky in our room (seaview). We were happy to move on.

Beautiful location over seeing the beautiful nature of its natural surroundings. The ocean views the peace and quiet, friendly owners clean tidy and warm. Didn’t need a oven, what was provided was good enough. Good sleeping conditions .Owners , even txt hr, before arriving letting me know my family we’re taken care of. My second stay since Waitangi Day, I’ll recommend great service and accommodation ☺️just enjoy your stay while you can ☺️

Be honest a few more towels could have been given on a four day stay. Not a worry had backup towels.

Location / outlook is beautiful - so peaceful and quiet. Awesome expansive views of the water. The staff were lovely. We went for dinner at the local fishing club and it was EXCEPTIONAL - such great food, great portions and great prices.

Felt like in a fishbowl at night as the curtain on the main living area, which all other guests on the adjourning units must walk past was just a sunshade, not actual curtains so there was no privacy at all in most of the unit. This was the only thing we didnt like and perhaps it was just our unit that it was a problem for.

Ants and cockroaches. And the single beds were more for children not young adults. Kitchen not really suitable for cooking for 4 adults. Towels and blankets were clean and crisp.

Amazing hidden gem with superb harbour view, surrounded by paradise beaches

This place is an incredible hidden gem, located just high enough to give great views over the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour from the extensive deck and barbecue area. I just loved sitting for hours under a sun umbrella in the BBQ area surrounded by beautifully landscaped native garden, just sipping coffee and reading and looking over the water. Absolute bliss. The room's interior was a solid no-frills set-up perfect for a self-catering holiday - comfortable, with everything you'd need to cook meals etc. There were so many beautiful beaches nearby and also the town of Mangonui was very cute. Lots of reminders of Maori and colonial history all around which made it such a fascinating place.

The parking was a bit of a squeak, but that probably says more about my lack of backing skills. No washing machine. I can appreciate it's not possible in a place reliant on rainwater tanks. Anyway it's not like we're much better off back home in Wellington, seeing as how the city has water restrictions over summer thanks to losing almost half our water supply due to leaking pipes.

A little old apartment like, the bathroom didn’t have exhaust and the shower section was small and stayed damp as there were no window or exhaust. Got a bit stuffy in there. Other than that the apartment is good and value for money

That I had to ask a passerby to phone the owners so that I could check in to my room, because the whole place was deserted all the long after oon when I arrived after a long drive. I wish they had pinned a note to me on the Office door so that I could have gained access to my room and bathroom when I arrived after a long car journey.
