Location was good. Good space in rooms.

Being moved at the last minutes due to an unallocated booking from booking.com (according to the owner). We had specifically booked a grand floor unit with a grass external area. 1/2 hr before arriving the owner sent a message saying he was moving us to an upstairs unit with no outdoor area (except a very small balcony) abd entrance from the back of the unit. When I used him why we were changed he claimed booking.com 's approach to taking bookings as unallocated caused the problem. I do not accept that a specific room booking should be changed and if it has to I should be given time (days) to consider alternatives. Very let down.

It was spacious with everything one would want in accommodation of this type. The view from our upstairs unit was amazing. The owner/manager was friendly and helpful. It was a brief walk to the cafes and restaurants.

Loved the view across the bay. There was a viewing scope too in the lounge cc to watch the waders with. The bathroom was spacious with a washing machine. Well positioned to have a short stroll into the town.

Cosy stay with great location

We stayed 2 nights and loved it. The location was a short (10 min) leisurely stroll into town, beautiful outlook straight onto the water and next to some nice little shops and an art gallery. The bright red umbrella’s made it easy to find. The owner was so friendly and made himself available to answer any questions. Facilities were dated but for the price it was not an issue. It had everything you need to be self contained, the bed was comfy and we had some rain so it was great having a warm, dry and cosy place to come back to. Very clean. Plenty of parking

Really comfortable, great views and perfect location.

This was a spacious and comfortable holiday apartment with amazing views. It had all the facilities we needed and the kitchen was well equipped. It was great to have a washing machine and an oven. A quick walk into to town via a new boardwalk. The town was very pretty with great historic buildings. Highly recommend.

Clean and tidy with great views!

The apartment was lovely and clean and had great views. Bed was very comfy too! We didn't get to meet the owner as we checked in a bit later but he was readily available if we needed him.

There was a really strong foisty smell in the room and in the kitchen cupboards. I think it may be because its old and closed up? but it was really off-putting. Perhaps it needs airing more frequently or dome air freshner? It was a shame as the place was really well kept and clean. Also, and this is personal preference but proper duvet cover wasn't used, it was just a sheet under the duvet. I know a lot of people don't like this so wanted to note it for others to be aware.

Al Louise in Mangonui

Chris is a friendly & informative host. I had requested a ground floor unit. Chris had put us on the 2nd floor, but after driving up around the back, we walked straight into the unit. The view was absolutely amazing. The unit was spacious, extremely clean & well equipped. The bed was very comfortable & the pillows were better than our own! We had a lovely meal just along the road & enjoyed a drink at the historic hotel. It's a great place to stay to further explore Northland. Allan & I can highly recommend this motel to other travelers. .

Wonderful stay in a lovely little flat.

We liked the fact that it was so close to the little village. The fact that the bedroom is at the back and you can't hear the traffic is another plus. The bathroom was so spacious and there was even a telescope, which trilled my husband. We left our laptop in the drawer and lucky for us, they checked the rooms soon after we left and phoned us. We were not too far to turn around and fetch it.

Great location to walk into the village. Very tidy and well equipped for a stay with facilities and kitchen. Wonderful harbour views from the patio. Would visit again.

Everything was really good. Our unit was next to the water pump which was a little noisy when going but otherwise a great place to stay and enjoy what the area has to offer.

Well equipped 1 bedroom unit ground floor with excellent views over estuary. Nice place outside to sit and enjoy views in the sunshine. Equipped with all you needed including well set up kitchen and washing machine in bathroom with clothes line out back door. Easy 7 min walk to restaurants cafes etc in little township.

Exceptional

Very clean and comfortable accommodation overlooking the harbour. The unit I was in had the advantage of ground level entry from the back and an upstairs outlook - good for anyone not wanting to deal with stairs. Sunny aspect in the lounge in the morning and bedroom in the afternoon. An unexpected bonus was the telescope in the lounge to survey the harbour. Walking distance to the cafes, amenities in the little town centre via a boardwalk across the road. Highly recommend. Looking forward to a return visit.

Apartment 4, upstairs, is very well set out, with gorgeous views of the Bay and an easy coastal walk to the nearby local eateries. But there's a well equipped kitchen if you prefer to cook and eat at home... even a small private outside balcony with table and chairs. Hosts Sharon and Chris were very helpful - especially their local knowledge and recommendations regarding road conditions during a recent "big wet".

We didn't use the kettle. The bed was initially very soft... which quickly morphed into saggy and uncomfortable. A new mattress would improve things immensely.
