Friendly staff, but the room needs improvement

Very polite staff with fast responses to any request. The heating worked well, which was a big plus.

The hotel was not very close to the city center. The room had good potential in terms of design, but it felt a bit dirty, especially the floor. The lighting in the room was very low and dark, to the point of being uncomfortable. The sink was also leaking.

Good location but needs some work

Location is great to the train station and other Brussels points of interest. Spirella is a quaint accomodation which is between a hostel and a hotel as you share a common area but you have your own room and bathroom.

It looks like it could be cleaned a bit better. The bathroom had large marks on the wall and there's certainly some work that needs completing on the rooms. The doors shake whenever something large goes past which is noisy as that happens most of the night. Although it was gothic themed it was very dark even with all the lights on. Walls are thin which means you can hear a lot going on around your room.

Confortable and relaxing experience

The property was absolutely beautiful, full of charm and character. Staying there for four days felt like stepping back into a European classical era: elegant, timeless, and very chic! Definitely a place to return to.

Great stay! Would stay again. Cozy vibes, warm showers, clean rooms, and close to the trians.

Location was a quick 10mn walk from the main train station. It is also close by a great neighborhood with shops and restaurants. Directions for checking in were easy to follow.

I do not prefer to use booking.com and would rather use hotels personal websites, but this worked fine this time.

The decor is excellent and the location perfect for my needs

I got accidentally put in the wrong room for a night and had to change rooms the next day. Unfortunately I had a migraine while I had to move all of my things so it was not good timing.

Luxury apartment in the very heart of Brussels. The interior is tastefully designed, with everything brand new after a recent renovation. If you’re looking for stunning Instagram photos — this is the place. On the ground floor, there’s a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee machine, fridge, toaster, stove, and all necessary utensils. There are two 24-hour convenience stores nearby. Cafés are just a 3-minute walk away, as well as the main attractions and the famous flea market.

Great value and a refreshingly different type of accomodation.

Loved the period decor and unusual fit-out. Bed was very comfortable, shower was good, room was spacious. Close to the intercity train station (Brussels Midi) plus metro and bus very close. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Area full of students and migrants gave a nice vibe and energy. Very good value for the price.

Others have complained about the stairs. That’s unfair because the photos on booking.com are accurate. To be clear - the ground floor is the entry, kitchen and sitting room only, so if you book here you will have to go up stairs. Up one level for rooms 1 and 2, up another level for room 3, and as the levels have cathedral height ceilings, it’s a bit of a climb. The staircase is a tight spiral wrought iron one. Not suitable for large bags or for those with balance/mobility problems. Otherwise it just means exercising some caution coming up and down. Our only criticism is that they could be better lit.

Unique and thrilling experience I will remember.

It's just a great project with furnishings all sourced from the local flea markets. If you just want comfort and not unique atmosphere and history, book a standard hotel - it's not for you. I absolutely loved it. La Marolled is ace, full stop.

Only turn the front door key to the right or you'll be buggering around for ages:) Sort it Hugo, and good luck moving it forwards!

Very stylish and nice. We loved all. Very good location for exploring Brussels on foot. Atypical house and tastefully decorated. Many write about the staircase, but frankly it is perfectly usable. We had no difficulty using it. I warmly recommend it.

Recently renovated stylish house. We loved

Super place , we loved We really liked the house, stylish decor, everything has been recently renovated, so the bed is very comfortable. Good location, antique district with flea market every morning. We enjoyed walking around the Sablon and Grand Place, visiting old Brussels.

A big Disappointment

Self check in en check out was simple and easy.

As soon as we stepped in we felt a complete disappointment. There was no mention of a shared kitchen in the description. The stairs were impossible to climb and we face too much difficulty with our baggage and childerens. Family rooms were also joke. Rooms are on 2nd floor. And a shared kitchen on the ground floor. Too much problem in simply warming the milk bottle or the baby food.Rooms are not as shown in the pictures. In room 3 the back of the bed was empty. When we sleep our heads collide directly to the wall. In room 4 the lamps were broken, stains on the chairs. Very old house even it was impossible to walk without making a cracking noise. The heating system was making terrible sound, not to mention the ambulances because there is a hospital nearby. A big no and worst experience ever!!

Cute, but unpractical room - cleanliness could be improved

* Location: Very cute house in a lovely neighbourhood (however, do not go through the part at night) * Decor: Amazing architectur, lovely decorations

* Check-in: It was not clear to me that I would only get the code, AFTER sending my passport image (that information was mixed up with lots of other comparably non-important information) * Accessibility: The stairs are very small, and not feasible for large suitcases / unsporty people * Unpractical: The room had lovely furniture and decoration - but not practical at all: no coathanger, no place to put the suitcase etc. * Cleanliness: For flat/room 3, the bathroom is outside the room - it was unclear if it was shared or not as a used towel was on the floor / footpring in the shower stall / towel stack was large, but some were folded so sloppy that it was not clear of clean (or not - in total: this was the biggest minus point for me - but can be hopefully fixed easily

Hugo, one of the owners, is a nice guy.

They rent out the kitchen on Sundays to another group who play some board games so it's impossible to eat at the one and only table. Olga(the other owner) told us to find another solution in a very rude manner. The lobby looks like you're entering a warehouse. The bathroom in the room needs massive renovation. It's very dirty, the walls are cracked in the corners and it's very ugly. In the pictures attached you see the dirt on the shower head. Water pressure for the toilet and shower was extremely poor. There was almost no pressure for hot water. The toilet downstairs did not have an exhaust. The furniture in the room is old and the paint is falling off of most of them. The curtains are very dusty. The spiral staircase in the lobby was extremely narrow and it's hard to carry luggage upstairs. It's even harder if you're tall. They don't communicate well before hand via the booking.com app. We had to chase them to get a response regarding our luggage drop off We thought we got something special at the price we got it at, but it turned out to be extremely false. We were willing to pay more for something better but this seemed amazing in the pictures. We feel cheated. Booking.com should shut them down!!!

The bed was quite comfy!

The shower was a disaster! Either too hot or too cold. And the shower spray is not gentle, just shoots at you. And the shower head from above is just decoration.

Perfect rooms, worst staircase

L’atelier de Hugo is extremely close to the train station and walking distance from Brussel-Midi. It’s also around 15 minutes on foot from the city center. The rooms were big, clean, beautiful, the host is kind, answered all my questions fast and did all he could to help us and make the stay enjoyable.

The spiral staircase. It’s EXTREMELY narrow, high and it made it very difficult and uncomfortable to go up 2 floors with a small hand luggage.

Unique stay

Location was very good, close to subway. The owner was very friendly. We could leave our luggage the next day until our departure.

Design of the interior is unique, however room requires total renovation, which the owner says is planning anyway. There was a bad smell coming from the toilet. Shower was very old and didn't seem very clean. Be aware that stairs are quite uncomfortable to use, especially with luggage

Pleasant

The accommodation offers an excellent location. It is located in the city center right next to the metro station or the bus station. Communication with the staff was very fast and reliable.

Unfortunately, the accommodation looks different than in the photos. The welcome hall is a defacto junkyard and unfortunately everything smells musty. The view from the room is directly on the ruins of the house next door. The insulation of the room is terrible and the noise in the other rooms is very audible.
