We had a really enjoyable stay at the cottage in Inverness. The property is beautiful, warm, and very comfortable, and the surrounding grounds are lovely. The location is also a big plus — with an Asda just a few minutes away and other shops within walking distance, everything you need is close by.
That said, there are a few areas where the cottage could be improved. The upstairs has clearly been updated, but it would be great to see the downstairs brought up to the same standard, as this would really elevate the overall feel of the property. A few additional amenities would also make a big difference for longer stays. A dishwasher would have been very helpful, and some basic kitchen items like a jug and pizza cutter were missing. It would also have been useful to have some cleaning equipment available, especially as we stayed for 7 days and would have liked to tidy up after ourselves. Small touches like providing salt and sugar would also save guests from having to buy these for short stays.
As we were travelling with children, TVs in the bedrooms would have been appreciated — though that’s more of a personal preference than a necessity.
Overall, we genuinely loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. The cottage itself is cosy and welcoming, and we were very happy there. The only downside was the communication from the host, which could definitely be improved, as responses were limited and sometimes not provided at all. It would also help to have clearer information about things like electricity usage and use of the washing machine to avoid any confusion.
Despite a few minor drawbacks, we had a fantastic time and would happily return with a few improvements in place.
