Usually very good, not so much this time

It's close to the bus and train stations which is great. The facility to offload baggage before check in.

Usually my stay here is great but this time I suffered incredible itching in my bunk during the night. I put it down to bed bugs and maybe bed linen not changed sufficiently. The toilet and shower area were not as clean as usual.

Black Isle Hostel, good location and value for money

I like the location of the Hostel, staff friendly when I arrived early

the bunk beds linens looks like not fresh, they are smelly and they don't clean very well between and underneath the bunk beds. On my last visit I foun1 sock and empty bottle of water between the wall an the bunk bed Also always when I stayed at the Hostels other guests left dirty the kitchen and the wooden bench at the entrance on ground floor guests order food and left rubbished. The hostels needs to take action and I can suggest if your CCTV point in direction to the bench, catch the culprit and make him or her clean

Snow situation stay!

The location is great, good price, warm and cosy.

The men's toilet was a bit disgusting when I arrived, but I understand that it might have been an inconsiderate guest who made that mess! The next day it was cleaned.

Location and great value for money.

The hostel is very well located and offers great value for money. Clean room, clean bathrooms. Approved.

They could put shelves inside the shower stalls, as there isn't even enough space to put soap or shampoo. It's also very dark inside the shower stalls, as the bathroom light barely enters the shower cubicles. These are just observations that could make the hostel excellent.

Bed and easy axcess to town.

It was right on the main road. So lots of noise at night. Lots of moving around in the hostel. I was not told that you could use the kitchen. No chair in the room

The behaviour of the sfaff and location.

I supposed to check in morning 00.20 am. They emailed me that they will keep a number where I can contact and able to check in the hostel through their staff. I did not get any number. I tried their available numbers in here and google, no one responded. I have to stay outside of the accommodation in weather minus three. It was one of the horrible experience. later the staff said sorry next morning and give me a good city view room with free towel. Appreciated

Staff - friendly & helpful even at the bar attached to the hostel. Thank you! Location - Excellent. Opposite to bus & rail station. Walking distance to everything, including canal & marina. Room - Clean, with plug point & light by bed. Facilities - Shared kitchen has everything you would need but limited. WiFi is excellent. WC is shared, clean, numerous, hot showers. Common area is clean & spacious.

Nothing, but heads-up. No lift access to rooms or communal spaces. Staff presence is limited during low reason but accessible by phone.

It’s a great location — near the bus and rail stations, and right in the city centre!

There are no curtains around the bed for privacy.

Great location,

It was in a super location. Friendly helpful staff and liked the décor & atmosphere of the place. Very clean toilets & showers & plenty so no waiting. Lots of plugs. Comfortable bed

Perfect

The place was centrally located close to the bus station, train stations, grocery stores and some good restaurants. The staff are quite warm and cordial and the facilities are all more than enough for one's requirements.

Great location, well equipped kitchen, big common room, huge cage lockers, comfortable beds.

USB charger next to bed didn't work. Shower cabins were dark. Reception closed around lunch time.

Confortable beds, place well clean

No isolation at all (we woke in the middle of the night with people talking in the street). You had to go to the hall to use the hairdryer. Bathroom had no space to put your things Shower heads system is horrible: you had to press a button to have some seconds of running water, and couldn't regulate temperature. Showers had no hook to place the towel, or a stand to place the champoo or soap

I have stayed here before and loo rolls were always full. Not on this stay! But the rest was spotles

No breakfast. Mainly very clean.

Where were the loo rolls in the ladies wc facilities. None in the plastic roll container! How come the ladies wc was spotless, yet forgot to fill the loo roll holders?

Value for money

The hostel is in the middle of the city and access to rail and bus services are excellent there is plenty of of shops around for food supplies and bars and restaurants are also available

Unfortunately this stay seemed different from my previous experience with this hostel it seems a little bit noisy and the area where not as clean as the usual standard from previous stays maybe this is a on off glitch and will be solved in the next visit

I liked that it was within walking distance of everything. Lots of restaurants and shops as well as some historical stuff. The car park was only a short walk away and the prices were reasonable. The security was very good. The young man at the reception did come to the car park to help me with my very heavy luggage. I loved the duvets on the bed! They were warm and super cozy.

I didn't like that as a smoker and solo female traveler I had to stand out on the street to smoke at night. There was a strip club next so it made me feel very unsafe at times. Also, the entrance to the hostel is quite filthy with litter and smoke debris. I realize it's on a busy street but a sweep up once a day wouldn't go amiss. Although the I got help with my luggage the staff were less than pleasant. There needs to be some sort of shelves to place your items on in the shower cubicles. Everything gets wet. Maybe a small stool as well. I realize this is a hostel but honestly I've stayed at campgrounds with better shower rooms. There was no information given as to if there was a lounge available and if so were it was or any other amenities that were available.

Great Hostel!

Frasier was very friendly and accommodating. Lee appreciated a straight honest approach and helped out when I experienced some difficulty. They both adjusted their approach to suit my somewhat atypical approach to life LOL.
