Haus Barkhausen

The house is at a very good location. The kitchen and bathroom was satisfactory. The view from the apartment was also really nice, both nature and some part of Monschau old city. The fresh towels and clean bed linens were nice. The apartment looked and felt very clean overall.

There are a few things but the first is the bed situation in the bedroom. We received a message by the owner explaining the crooked floors after reservation. Even though the crooked floors and the sloped areas were dizzying at first, we didn't mind too much since it was at a good location, the view was very nice and we generally like the quirky qualities of old houses. However, it wasn't mentioned that the beds get seperated while sleeping with your spouse due to the leveling of these crooked floors. There are serious slopes in some parts of the rooms. As a result, the sleeping experience was way too annoying and not very relaxing & restful unfortunately. It is a shame that it could have been solved easily with a leveling agent under the beds. Also, there was a considerably large gap between the parquets in the bedroom, I was afraid if a mouse would pop up from there, tbh. Lastly, the owner should consider updating his info regarding the parking which was recommended. The price went up by 100%.

Easy stay in a historical building in a historical city. Easy check in and suitable for single night stays.

Historical house, and spacious appartment. Everything was very clean, facilities were great, it even has a seperate kitchen and a washer / dryer which could come in handy during the colder / wetter months. A short walk to old town centre, easy access to restaurants / shops.

location was superb. short walk to city center/ shops/ restaurants. everything provided by owner and communication / instructions were clear and on time

beds were too soft (you sank onto the bed which was not comfortable). couch had an old smell and needs an upgrade
