George & Pilgrims Hotel

When booking this place you have to bear in mind the age of the building and restrictions in place. You need a bit of stamina - there are spiralling staircases for 2 floors. We were in room 14, second floor, the furtherest walk, i think they mist know my bmi! The place itself has lots of character, charm and it was a pleasure to spend a night there to experience that alone. The room was small, there was a radio and a nice message from housekeeping to greet us. The bed was a double with just enough room to make it to each side. Everything worked as it should, lights tv etc. The shower was ok, kept going hot and cold, but its old. I cant say it was clean, the basics were covered clean bedding towels etc. The paint work - doors and handles haven't been deep cleaned in a while, but on the plus side there is refurbishment looming in January 2027.. Generally overall, the place needs a deep clean and a refresh. Location wise, perfect, the carpark close to the pub is council so you do have to pay. Shops all within walking distance as well as Glastonbury Abbey. Breakfast- now that was a treat... just imagine faulty towers.. People had eaten at the table before us - i assume as it was not clean, and the single waitress just placed cutlery for us on the table. Dont go for coffee until it has gone through the machine - she will tell you multiple times. Service is slow, well was on our morning. Dont ask for poached eggs, as the breakfast chef on that morning doesn't do poached eggs very well, her words not mine, but I can agree! No offer of a replacement - see faulty towers - she did seem to be having a right odd morning with huffs and puffs and pure honesty - which we found quite entertaining and fitted in with the place. She was very pleasant and was just probably having a bad day and looking forward to 12 noon.. Overall the stay was good, would I go back.. umm no, i am fussy - but it was the cheapest stay of our week traveling the South West. The building is lovely.

A 15c hotel in the middle of Glastonbury with easy access to The Tor, Clarks Village, Wells and countryside walks. If I come back to Glastonbury will happily stay in the same hotel

Although clean and staff were lovely my room no 10was dated badly in need of repairs- sash windows were broken and slammed shut with a mind of their own- shower was a torrent that you had to dodge in and out of - bath was disgusting with ingrained dirt - carpets so worn they were shiny black in places - breakfast was disappointing- pastries from lids - bread from essentials range - full English tasteless- so disappointing!! Stay somewhere else!
