The reception was warm, and even though we had one of the more modern rooms, it still had charm to it. The breakfast was fantastic, and the location cannot be beat if you're looking for a stay in Glastonbury.

There’s no denying it, The George & Pilgrim is bursting with character and history. We stayed the night in one of their premium four poster bedrooms at the front of the inn. Very comfortable room, but shower needs attention. Service was appalling, borderline becoming a joke. After a gruelling journey we were kept waiting 35 mins at reception trying to check-in. In the end I queued at the bar (understaffed and bar blind) to check in, then told to wait at the reception..
Breakfast was a joke, coffee jug empty and the thrumpy woman who was organising it seemed angry and would walk away whilst talking to you very quickly. It all seemed a bit too much for them and made us feel like we were just an inconvenience to them. Dried up bacon (one rasher) an egg, four triangular hash browns, no sausage, a yellowing sour tomato, beans that had been on service before and to top it all .. crappy supermarket bread. I mean we paid a premium price for this? I love the building but the way it is run? Nope, just don’t work for me.

The staff are fabulous. Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Location is perfect for Glastonbury. Centrally located and there is a car park at the back. We stayed in room 14 which is in a newer part of the building. It feels like an extension. When I say newer, I mean it’s not 500 years old. But it is very dated and needs an overhaul. I should’ve taken pictures but the grouting is missing on the tiles of the bathroom floor, the bath screen where it meets the bath is yellow and horrible, the shower doesn’t work properly, and the doors to all the rooms that we passed along the corridor to our roomwere filthy. The beds themselves were comfortable and felt firm and new. The sheets and towels were crisp white and in good condition. The room itself was quiet and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good.

It’s in the heart of the town. Easy access. Walkable. Great food & friendly & accommodating staff. Note room are on the second & third floors, only a spiral staircase for access.

Super cute place if you want something that gives you a taste of history. The building it beautiful and there is a olde worldy pub on the ground floor. Staff were friendly. However, with the old comes no lifts and dragging suitcases over cobblestones from the payed parking in the back and then up windy staircases. Everything has that damp feeling which also doesn't smell the best. Obvs no air con and the room itself was dated (not in the good way) . VERY central so if you want to be in the very heart of the town then its perfect and you can walk to everything.

Wonderful friendly reception by the staff for accommodations and a very pleasant stay close to all amenities. Loved the character of the building! Will hopefully be back some day!

We loved the antiquity of this hotel. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our evening meal was delicious.
However - there were several downsides:
Overall, the hotel’s decor is very shabby. (We were told that the hotel is due for a refurbishment this year).
Our room (no 10) didn’t much resemble any of the images on the website and had the fire exit running between the bedroom and the bathroom areas! There was no door handle on the bathroom side of the door (whilst in the bathroom we had to close it by pulling on the coat hook on the internal side). The bathroom itself wasn’t screened from the fire exit corridor at all, and the bathroom itself was cramped and very tired. The shaver light had no way of switching on.
The tv remote control was barely held together with selotape as the battery cover was broken, and wasn’t easy to use at all as a result.
When we enquired about changing rooms the staff could only offer us a room that had suffered from water damage following a recent broken window. We declined.
Breakfast was included in our room rate and offered a good choice of mostly hot food - the Eggs Royale and the Bircher muesli were fantastic. The toast offering was very disappointing - pre-packaged sliced white bread was the only option. The menu advertised ‘pastries’ but there were none to be seen.
In summary - staff did their best to make our stay comfortable but the hotel itself let them down.

No warm water for showers in the morning but the hotel is so interesting and beautiful!
3.0 / 10.0
Absolutely beautiful place, the room was stunning we went for the 4 poster bed option and it did not disappoint, although the mattress on the bed was extremely hard we had a decent night's sleep, can get noisy as it's single glazed windows so cars and people outside can be really loud
The main disappointment for his was the breakfast in the morning, got seated to our table and told to help ourselves to hot drinks and juice, tried making a tea, they had cups and tea bags but no hot water, so we had to ask for this where they just went off and got us a tea, which is fine until I wanted another one and I had to ask again. We then ordered breakfast, 2 Fry's up which is simple enough, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 hash browns, eggs and a little pot of beans.... This took 1 hour 10 mins to arrive after we ordered, they apologised and said it was the chefs first day covering on his own... But at the end of the day a chef is a chef whether he is on his own or not and the place was not busy, we had to check out by 11 from the room so we rushed the breakfast, it was supposed to come with toast which was never brought out and without being stuck there for another 30 minutes waiting for them to toast it we rushed up stares packed and got out pretty much exactly on 11am
Eaten there before and it's always been good and quick so just leaving this to a 1 off

The staff were very kind, very sweet.
The place is the oldest hotel in the area. I appreciated this. And it was clean. The cleaning lady kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. I stayed for 6 nights during a retreat.
The food for breakfast was very good, they were sweet and attentive.
The only thing is my room was very loud, as I could hear the bar and restaurant downstairs. So perhaps have a white noise machine and ear plugs. I believe they did provide earplugs and that was appreciated it.
The drinks were good too.
The other thing is that the front desk would open a bit late, so if I did need something I didn't know who to ask.
Overall it was a good stay,

Interesting building full of character.
Easy paid parking out back.
Staff all friendly and helpful.
Food in restaurant was great quality, which was just as well as not much else to choose from in Glastonbury itself on a Sunday eve.

Amazing hotel in the centre of Glastonbury. Minutes from other pubs, cafés and eateries. Though the hotel provides a great bar and restaurant. Very, very dog friendly. My dog was spoilt by the staff and was allowed in all areas. Highly recommended.

Noisy quiz night. Noisy 6.30am clanging of metal beer kegs and our final night people with two yapping and barking dogs moved in next door. 11pm and 7am noisy dogs. The staff were very nice throughout our 3 day stay. TV remote is a bit dodgy (no back cover on it) No chair to sit on in the room. The shower was great. Breakfast not as good as it used to be. Drinks at the bar much dearer than other establishments in the area. Car parking expensive.

The people were very nice, food was good, the issue isbthat the room was not cleaned. They propably have not hoover the carpet in over a year, unfer the bed was really dirty. Accumulated dust and things from other guests. It is a shame to see a beatiful property poorly taken care of.

As it happens often with rooms in pubs, they look veeeeery tired, almost old. Nothing fancy about them.

We loved the history and character of this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the one thing that let it down was the uncomfortable beds. We stayed in the Nuns room, the beds and the pillows were so hard we didnt have a great night's sleep. A really great place, but we were glad we were only sleeping there for 1 night.

2nd time we've stayed, both times in the old part of the hotel. wonky floors, everything creaks, ancient furniture - it's awesome. and always friendly service.
Oh and a nice breakfast too

This hotel is full of character and history but is need of some TLC. Stayed in a family room which was a good size but in need of refurbishment. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was musty and in need of redecoration.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and town, so out of this world. Glastonbury Tor was a bit strenuous walk but definitely worth it due to the views at the top.

"Reception area" smelled like the restrooms next to it. Came back down the dangerous winding staircase 3 times trying to figure out where our room was. Tiny, dilapidated old room facing a noisy back area. Room was suffocating hot. Bathroom ceiling looked like it was going to fall in. I know this is a very old building, but as a hotel it should be comfortable.

A very distinctive hotel.

Great hotel, absolutely dripping in atmosphere.
Manage your expectations this hotel is hundreds
of years old, the floors will creak, the stairs are uneven and the windows aren't double glazed,.all of which are massive plusses in my opinion.
Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice.
The restaurant is small and fills up quickly so ensure you book a table, and this was one of the minuses for me, usually when I check in to a hotel and they have a popular restaurant, I'm normally asked "will you be dining with us tonight?"
We didn't get that and came down to a 45 minute wait for a table, so our first night we eat elsewhere.
Every thing else was great, it really is a unique place to stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this!
The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper.
There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred.
Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks.
Overall location couldn’t be beaten, staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

An Eighteenth century Inn. A fun place to stay with a standard English pub menu.

It was such a fun experience staying in this historic Inn! The decor maintained the historical feel, and it was a fun place to stay while visiting Glastonbury. We were able to walk everywhere (including to the top of the Tor - which seemed dauting but was not that bad!)
For vegetarians - we had a great plant based burger for dinner at the restaurant, and the English Breakfast included in the morning was a very hearty way to start the day. There is also a spectacular Vegan Cafe just down the street as well.

I have always wanted to stay in this historic hotel built in 1497. Bucket list ticked.

The hotel room wasn't really fit to accommodate guests . We brought this up with the manager quite frankly didn't seem that interested in our complaint . He just said it was an old property, with no apology or even an attempt to move us to another room
The fact that water was seen running down the wall with the plaster falling off and towels on the floor to mop it up, A hole in the window, damp coming in everywhere, extractor fan not working making it feel very damp, Stai Stains on the carpet and the chair, a a mattress which seems it had no springs in it was not suitable.
This is all unacceptable for the amount of money that we paid

Fabulous historic hotel with tremendous charm in the heart of quirky Glastonbury. We had a large room with a beautiful four poster bed. The bathroom was modern (except for the separate hot & cold water taps on the sink). I was not comfortable with the intrusive information requests and privacy waivers required to use the hotel Wi-Fi so did not use it.

The property ouses age and tradition. The staff are friendly obliging and polite. The food and drink was good. overall, good value for money.
